      I really don't agree with the review. I agree there are many aspects of wedding and social relations loading up in each episode and it might feel bombarded. But the directors have really made the aesthetic balance required for each situation. It truly takes a genius! Many of the marital relations are personal and in real life it can feel prolonged but the creators have taken the fast pace but also given each moment it's due respect. Loved every bit of it!!

      There were very very few moments in this season I genuinely liked...for the most part I just felt lectured, lectured and LECTURED OMYYGODDD IT WAS EXASPERATING. I was literally exhausted from all the preaching. Nothing compared to how deliciously fun and exciting the first season first. Just felt like a checklist of agendas and issues addressed in the broadest and bluntest way possible. We're not that dumb that we don't understand the difference between subtle storytelling and being bludgeoned on the head with message after message..really disappointed

    The last time I watched MIH in season 1, I remember being excited and enlightened. There were dark aspects in the last season, but there was also an endearing quality to how it all came together. This time around, just two episodes in, I am sad and tired. And especially as a gay guy, I am having secondhand stress on Karan's behalf
    Edit: very far down the show, I now feel that the season is just sublime, perhaps the best new age drama show that has come out of india. The story is so layered, complex and moving, and there's little I'd like in the show's intricacies to be different. Karan's journey is painful for me to watch because I am so attached to the character, but I am beginning to understand why the writers wrote like this. In a promo sobhita dhulipala said that this season is going to be a little bitter, it is, but so is life. There are so many individual shows in just this one season, each episode had to be 70 min long, and I am not complaining, but thanking the makers!

    Agreeing on the part that it really felt too much. Seemed like a series of constant lectures, missed the raw emotions the quiet moments of S1. But yes, loved to see this new shade of Mr. Jauhri! Mona Singh too, amazing. The few moments of Vikrant Massey in the last episode teared me up :')

    This may be an unpopular opinion but Tara Khanna felt bland in this season compared to the first. The eventual unraveling of her greyness has now turned into overt villainy. Sad to see her reduced to an outright opportunist who for some reason thrives on a purely transactional relationship with her own family. In the moments that the show wanted us viewers to sympathize with her, I simply couldn't because she didn't feel real.

    The first season was never forced or preachy. And the secondary wedding plotlines were not only fun but very involving.
    This time around it was all let's pick this issue and add it to the plotline. It was forced and fabricated. Worse, the guest stars acting was poor.

    I so agree with you. The first season was entertaining and had a story that we fell in love with. Tara and Karan's job of wedding planner and their character arch was the main focus where they encounter harsh reality and views of upper Delhi during the weddings. It kind of blended together with the main charactets inner conflicts at the same time trying to help others to have a closure to their own guilt. It was organic and something we can all relate to. Season 2 felt like Karan and Tara and Made in Heaven are more involved with the people in the wedding dealing with their conflict and rather than fixing themselves. Each new couple came as problems in the society and that was the focus througout the show rather than Made in Heaven's world colliding with couples. There were no revelation or emotional attachment of characters like Karan, Tara or Kabir. They were like sided to serve the main objective of the episode. I remember in the first season when Tara breaks down and accepts her faults to Adil. It shows the growth in the character and the same Tara becomes so as Adil calls her snake in season 2. She feels guilt but goes back to her roots. It doesn't have that commentary or poking to the society like season 1 and more shoving the problem in the face. It was a good show but missing the charm of the first. There were some meta jokes but other than that it was too heavy and no sense of ease or relief.

  • @simranwilasra2196
    @simranwilasra2196 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Wow, these were my exact thoughts on this season! It did lose some of the first season's charm, and I was really missing the absurdist humour from rich people being rich people, so that Bollywood wedding episode was a breath of fresh air. A couple of the episodic weddings did get too preachy, like a checklist of social issues, which is never fun. The first season brought up all those things so organically. Like the commitment ceremony shtick, it was just so tired and done and it felt so disconnected, and kind of cringe.
    But, the personal stories of the Made In Heaven team stayed interesting and entertaining. Watching Tara screw over Adil Khanna was so cathartic, just because he deserves way worse and Jim Sarbh plays a great manipulative dickhead. Karan's personal journey about his messed up relationship with his mother and his self-destructive activities to try to deal with it was heart-wrenching, and I just wanted to reach into the screen and give him a hug. Mona Singh as Bulbul Ji was so much fun, but also had a really interesting story, and the quiet support of Vijay Raaz added so much.
    I wish they did more with Meher, and saw her past her being trans, because she could have been a great new addition, but alas all of her subplots were just her being the local punching bag. Again that's tired, that's done. We queer people are more than our tragedy, and its high time Bollywood gets that.

    I just wanted to see more of Tara's personal life. What is she thinking... I couldn't get enough of her. And the season was too preachy. Season 1 has some major messaging, but it didn't feel like a Moral Science lecture. I watched S2, wished I could unwatch it - so just went back and binged on S1 again to cleanse my mind. Loved Bulbul and Meher ❤ though.

      Absolutely. I think that was the point. Karan still loves Nawab clearly but this time they maintained a boundary. It's interesting how Karan slept with nearly every gay man he had come across but couldn't cross that boundary with Nawab (because he was with someone). He only decided to clean up after meeting Nawab the first time and for most part felt the most real with him. It was very authentic, raw and emotional because Karan truly only opened up to Nawab in this season.

    Trinetra, as her first debut was honestly so much better than the main lead. It’s like expressions of all the main characters were frozen, same expressions for all the situation. Jim sure did well though comparatively. Overall the storytelling was a bit erratic it seemed like they took the audience for granted. There is quite less drama, pretty linear storytelling and some side stories honestly were really not needed like what’s up with Mathur starting drugs, what does it add to? Or Kabir’s parents’ constantly saying NYU New York university NyU like theek hai samajh aa gaya bhai bande ka ho gaya udhar bs karo ab. And the triangle between Kabir’s ex and Shivani is also portrayed so poorly. At times it did feel like Shashank really didn’t have much interest in playing his character. He really seem like kya Woi Woi baar baar kuch masala hi nai hai

    Season 2 was disappointing. The saving grace was definitely Bulbul. I also rooted for the actor who played Dhruv. And frankly the skin lit up everytime Jim Sarbh appeared.
    #crush 😛 The most frustrating watch was the two wonders of the Season 1, both Karan and Tara's character arc seemed a tad bit repetitive. Also none of the marriage stories seemed groundbreaking.

    @Priya-gc8ig ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think the shoddiness comes mainly from the writing. The characters this time around didn't seem as real and fleshed out as the last season. The acting seems caricature-ish. The new additions are there for purely woke reasons. It is preachier than the last season which is a big deal cause last season was preachy af. The lines don't land. The weddings are too much. More effort is spent on the aesthetic and making sure every frame looks like a painting.
    I might not revisit this like I do with season 1. It makes me not look forward to the next season... Which is sad cause it's one of my fav shows.

The episode on physical abuse draws out so much from each character, especially Mona Singh, she was a great addition in this show. This show does not show perfect people, it shows people just like me, you and everyone else, complicated, confused, problematic and still humane.... I loved it... This season is not good as last one. Only Bulbul and Johri plot is good, others was very preachy and shoving their version of truth down your throat.

      It's a bad series, first one was way better, I have always looked for zoyas work, but the execution is stale and boring

    Flop actor Sanjay Kapoor feels like a forced addition to every show/film he's a part of 🙃
