What baffles me the most is that Indrani was in Raigad the day after Sheena was murdered in the same location. The arrogance and sheer vindictiveness of Indrani overpowers everything and makes the viewer believe that she is indeed guilty. Also, interestingly Vidhi supported her father throughout the court journey but the moment Indrani gets the major junk of the property and inheritance, Vidhi automatically starts to address Indrani as her mother and sympathises with her, makes me convinced that this family is definitely bizarre and money-minded.
Also you may notice that she did the same in her childhood as well. When her mother brought her to Mumbai after divorcing her biological father , she started ignoring her biological father because her stepdad Peter was more rich. So she is also no different from her mother and is equally opportunistic and money hungry.
It was an open and shut case for six straight years, suddenly the accused agrees to be the government's witness against Chidambaram, whilst in jail, and suddenly she was out on bail like a rockstar. I don't think you get the documentary. This series IS about a narcissistic personality, Indrani, mired in a narcissistic, voyeuristic world. The reason Sheena is an obscure, almost absent presence in this story, is because that is the point. All the living characters in the documentary come across as either damaged, or hollow. For me, Sheena's absence from this narrative is the best thing about this documentary...in a sense deifying her and making her out to be too good for this world.
Perhaps the timing of its release is problematic since this is an ongoing case? With Indrani as a prime suspect, how does the documentary make her look like? Should makers risk releasing a series like this, which could be perceived at best a showcase of narcissism or worst, their glorification?
The documentary makes Indrani look guilty, period. If there are people who care for Indrani, I doubt there are any, they are the ones who should object. I agree that there are huge ethical problems to this documentary coming out now...but not from the point of being sympathetic to Indrani, but the opposite@@bhavatirao9350
To me, in that final question...she does not deny that she killed her daughter but responds with "what a stupid question"... this moment shows her guilt, that final scene gave me chills, and I believe was a way for the film makers to show us the truth, and that's why it's at the very end
Mumbai Police is the main guilty party: 1. Why was the 2012 Case hush-up not investigated? 2. Why were Indrani's father-mother not investigated for rape and sexual abuse of a minor? 3. How could someone bungle up the DNA test and why do they not do a 2nd round of DNA test when the evidence is still within the custody of police? I think Indrani is guilty, but I defend her right to defend herself by all legal means available to her. There is no defense for MI Police, either they are highly incompetent or highly corrupt.

The criticality and the statement of Indrani Mukherjea's lawyer clearly claims that Indrani Mukherjea is the murderer, as in the last it was revealed that Sheena was the daughter of Siddharth Das, which was denied by Indrani and she made another story of being raped by her father. I just wonder if a girl/woman can make a story by demeaning her own father then she can do anything she wants to...
I just finished watching it. The mother talks like she has no remorse, no soul, no caring for others whatsoever! She’s a psychopath! She’s was always a bad mother! A murderer? Absolutely! Sister or daughter missing, and you act like everything is ok??? This woman is a lier and should be in prison!!!
Not once did she feel remorse or sad about her kids. She didn't even mention how hurt they may feel. Not once. Also netflix didn't even ask her how she knows sheena is in kashmir, and if so isn't indrani worried for her safety or care about her daughter? And who's body are they investigating? Too many holes
I got chills down my spine when Indrani after for decades portraying her daughter as her sister and then allegedly killing her using her 2nd husband in the act... when she looked straight at the camera and stating with no irony..my family abandoned me..i get no support from them 😮😮😮😮 Indrani is a fine villain and one day she would make a grt movie story... but this series was not it.
You are so correct in your review, the lack of background of the victim was overshadowed by the history of her alleged perpetrator. Sheena was dehumanized in the entire Netflix series, it was uncomfortable to watch how little a human life is worth.
It’s sad why indrani is the main one , it’s sheena who is no where , it’s coz of her indranis life came out , everything came out of sheena , but still Netflix made a point to give indrani the main platform

I think Indrani's lawyer said it all at the end. "People had their own agenda." I feel the fiancée, Indrani, Peter, Mikhail everyone had their own selfish reasons, and no one actually cared for anyone. Sheena maybe was a sacrificial lamb. The only person close to genuine in this documentary was Vidhie.

Disagree. I still think Indrani was the killer/murderer… there r so many points … majorly the driver pointed to the same place where the corpse was found 3 years b4. He was very vocal n gave complete timeline… sure there must be different reason(s) why she was killed but Indrani is the one who throttled her… my view … whatever I hv seen n read… Sheena is NOT ALIVE …
The closest she came to a confession was when she said that she wouldn't be in this situation today if she hadn't met Peter Mukerjea. Cos it was this fateful meeting that set in motion the chain of events that led to Sheena's murder. Being a bold woman, she cud have just acknowledged Sheena as her daughter and let her make her own choices in life.

Your review is 100% accurate. The show is so poorly conceptualized. I found the cinematography very jarring. Your point might be valid that it exploits the sensational nature of the crime, but once the maker has made the choice, shouldn't you be reviewing what he or she's done too? I watched it yesterday and it kept me hooked. Rarely happens these days. It was the most bizarre murder case in India in the last decade and that had to be highlighted too. Why critics disapprove so much when it doesn't suit their agenda. They are not making it to fulfil your wishes.

I thought the docu did a good job of showing many shades of Indrani - she was not successful at showrunning the narrative the way she did during her book launch last year (when she manipulated even the most seasoned of journalists). It was good to see Vaihayasi Pande Daniel featured - she followed the case at close quarters, and I followed her lucid writing for much of the trial. Her astute comments in the docu, basis years of immersing herself in this sorry story, reflect the reasonable doubts we are all expected to cultivate re the 'buried truth'. I don't think Indrani meant to kill Sheena initially. Circumstances made her do it. I also think she has blocked the memory of wat happened. Somewhere in Indrani, there was love for Sheena. She does admit that she cud have been the most accomplished of her kids. It is actually more of a colossal tragedy than a sensational murder case. And I also feel that Indrani cud have been raped by her Dad. It's not something a woman will lie about. Anyway, a DNA test can reveal the truth. What Indrani did was very cruel and self-serving, but when u look at her life, it has all the inevitability of a Greek tragedy.
"It's not something a woman will lie about" that is a statement which is so not true there are plenty of disgusting women who lie about something so horrific for their own benefit
One thing which Indrani doesn't say out loud is Sheena is an unwanted child conceived by her rapist hence she doesn't care whether she lives or dies. We can't expect a mother to care for her child just because she gave birth. Most men don't do and noone questions them.

Your perspective is interesting
Its india if you have enough money you can get away with murder literally. That women showed no concern 4 sheena she was all about herself. Narcissist
Correct! 👌
To me, in that final question...she does not deny that she killed her daughter but responds with "what a stupid question"... this moment shows her guilt, that final scene gave me chills, and I believe was a way for the film makers to show us the truth, and that's why it's at the very end
I thought it was a very well done series, kept me hooked and terrified all the way through..
Mumbai Police is the main guilty party:
Absolutely correct
MI? Mumbai Indians?
Not to miss the fact Netflix may have even paid Indrani for the documentary!
They didn't.
On the contrary, the documentary appears to have been commissioned by the murderer.
And the money she earns from another scam
Use Indrani's documentary to gain discernment. This documentary exposed all her red flags and convinced many of her guilt. There are many narcissistic tendencies that Indrani displayed throughout this documentary. She truly exposed herself and, I think that was the whole point. The victim is important but, documenting how these criminals act and behave is crucial as well, it gives us an idea of how their minds work and what to look out for. Just food for thought.
This documentary mimics the documentary of Michael Peterson, The staircase. The tactic used is to let the suspect/ narcissist talk because, narcissistic people love to talk and, this eventually leads to them making mistakes, showing a dark side to their personality. In the staircase documentary Michael Peterson is caught on a hot mic confessing to the crime and showed his narcissistic side, the same can be said for Indrani, the series exposed her narcissistic tendencies, her lack of empathy, the fact that she had no desire to look for her daughter or seek justice, her arrogance when talking over her own attorney and her many contradictions. It quite literally convinced many of her guilt.
I got chills down my spine when Indrani after for decades portraying her daughter as her sister and then allegedly killing her using her 2nd husband in the act... when she looked straight at the camera and stating with no irony..my family abandoned me..i get no support from them 😮😮😮😮
Indrani is a fine villain and one day she would make a grt movie story... but this series was not it.
You are so correct in your review, the lack of background of the victim was overshadowed by the history of her alleged perpetrator. Sheena was dehumanized in the entire Netflix series, it was uncomfortable to watch how little a human life is worth.
always spot-on....hands down the best reviewer at the moment....thanks for helping us in what to watch and what to skip!!
Indrani was low key scary 🫣
low key? Full blown.
It’s sad why indrani is the main one , it’s sheena who is no where , it’s coz of her indranis life came out , everything came out of sheena , but still Netflix made a point to give indrani the main platform
Agree the total disregard of the victim is disgusting, they talk as if Sheena meant nothing at all, like she was some trash they found in the forest
That was the whole point of the documentary. Police often allow narcissistic suspects to talk, it is a well known investigative tactic, allowing the narc to talk, narcs love to talk, especially about themselves and, because they love to talk; they will eventually contradict themselves. This documentary completely exposed herself, her lack of empathy, her referring to her missing daughter as "a girl that might be alive." Her arrogance and she spoke more about herself and made no attempt to find her daughter, seek justice for her daughter or even show concern. I think anyone of sound mind left the documentary convinced she is guilty. That seems to be the whole point of the documentary. It went over your heads.

I feel bad for Vidhie, because it seems like she is just so lost and doesn't know who to believe!
@taras.m1196 yeah exactly!!
That's where you are wrong The moment Indrani won the hefty divorce suit alimony with most of Peter Mukerjea money Vidhie started taking the side of the Indrani when all the while she supported Peter Mukerjea. So you can see all were narcissistic and self-serving.To shut her son's mouth Indrani got him a SUV.All of them were bought out with money including Siddharth who resorted to murder his own daughter on the instructions of Indrani for money.
@AG-ol1lb I never said Indrani is not the killer, nor did I say that Sheena is still alive!!
She has been exposed and it is a well made documentary! We are in a habit of criticizing everything. Netflix should continue to expose such crimes across the world since no one else is doing it!
I stopped watching the series as soon as Indrani starts talking
Yessss
No actually watch it they didn't tried to take her side she was really a bad woman
Me too. I swear I saw exorcist still with a sense of Humor.
But as soon as her face came in on the last one minute of the first episode. I said ‘fuck this shit’ and turned it off and went to sleep😂
Narcissist written all over her face. Funny everyone in her life is at fault, and she's always the victim.
I like this take. The docuseries sounds like the OJ Simpson case, I don’t remember the wife’s name !!
Great review!! loved it.
boy her eyes in doc !!!! and conversations between her and her attorney!!
Great review. Everyone should stay away from trashy true crime shows like these that doesn’t respect the victim or threatens to skew judgement in an ongoing trial. Netflix will sell human souls if it makes them money.
I watched the series honestly netflix doc was phenomenal they literally damaged her image more . They showd her manipulation, her lies ,her contradictory statements her lack lf affection towrds sheena ..evryone in that family was aftr money nobody cared for sheenas whereabouts ofcz except rahul he was the only person tried desperately to find her
@@PanajYafav-uc6ijI have to disagree with you on this.Rahul too had an agenda. He didn't want his father to bequeath the property to Vidhie as he was the biological son of Peter. He didn't want to work.He tried to use Sheena to get money from Indrani. He instigated Sheena to blackmail Indrani that if she don't give the money to Sheena, then she would expose her secret. That's when Indrani snapped.Indrani is not one to be messed with. That's why Indrani murdered Sheena.
Love your t shirt, Suchin .. reminded me of the warmth this movie brought into our lives
I don't understand how SC can allow a documentary on an ongoing case!
Your review is 100% accurate. The show is so poorly conceptualized. I found the cinematography very jarring. They made Bombay look beautiful (those drone shots etc.), but it was very distracting and did not add any value to the story. The 4 episodes could have been just 2. Someone definitely will be making a lot of money from this so-called docuseries.
If all you want to be is "hooked" and the moral responsibilities of the documentary don't matter to you...then good, great for you. Unfortunately that's now how it works for a lot of us.
@@suchinmehrotra I said that your point is valid. I am not writing a two page review or giving a 5 minute monologue here, so obviously can make only so many points. What I am saying is once you have mentioned that it didn’t do that, review what is there properly. Instead, u are going on and on about how it didn’t fulfil moral responsibilities with more examples. It’s ironical that critics are pretty bad with taking criticism. U guys made the same mistake with Animal. There were a lot of problems like script was not good enough apart from bad politics, etc, but there were a lot of good things like BG score, how it was directed in terms of cinematography, precision of framing, etc. But, agenda is paramount, right?
@@suchinmehrotraif anything the govt must look after underage unwed single mother in such rare cases. That is the only moral takeaway from this bizzare story. Indrani was tortured and felt it was ok to wed someone her father's age. Her first daughter was unhappy being called a sister and hence went into her step bro's pants. If there was secure govt safety net for unfortunates like Indryani then perhaps such cases can be prevented in future. I hope single underage mothers in India can raise kids of their own without needing a father name - just like in West. That is the only moral in question here. Rest all is societal driven bullshit - immaterial and everchanging.
That's what he did. He reviewed the staged screenplay. The forced "acting" Of the suspects, the bad "dialogue delivery" Of a psychopathic murder. He reviewed it all n didn't like it. I saw it and Hated it. It's the reviewer's choice to like or not like something
@@suchinmehrotra Moral responsibilities? Father and sons killing a girl and getting Indrani arrested, transferring all of Indranis jewels, 70 lakhs cash, 7 crores other money, a worli apartment, just after she got arrested, involving in taboo/incest relation - how moral are these things? A window to a Narcissist. Unfortunately many somehow becomes their feed.
What a twisted case of blind ambition, greed, incest! It definitely made for an interesting watch. Indrani is definitely a classic narcissist who uses people to climb the ladder of success and will take down anyone who comes in her way. She definitely played up the victim card in the documentary. It is very evident she’s guilty. I hope Sheena will find justice.
The father raping her is not true It was made up to get sympathy
Absolutely agree
The docu series tried to whitewash Indrani mukherjea's image and make her the victim but actually ended up exposing her even more. I mean one could clearly see what a disgusting and conniving liar she is while one can also see that Mikhail was actually telling the truth.
The challenge here is that its controversial standpoint coupled by these reviewers will only drive curious viewership which will lead to future productions of similar ilk.
Yeah, no publicity is bad publicity.I think the best way to deal with such contents is to stay silent and ignore.
What would you have us do? Not call out problematic storytelling?
& yet, if one has been alive in India for a hot minute, this pales in comparison to just the effing REALITY!

Good to see people like you who are sensitive as human not just money miner
No doubt India is guilty… So many facts pointing towards her :
1) If she was so fiesty and smart, how did she keep quiet over her father molesting her over a period of 3 years in her teen years?
2) Indrani mentioned her mom asked her Dad to leave the house when she got pregnant .
How did her 2 kids end up with grandparents who apparently are living together ?
3) Which MOM no matter how evil will leave her girl child with an alleged rapist ?
4) How can she not stay in touch at all with her first 2 kids?
5) The first son seems just as devious as the mom. He never decided to look for his sister for 3 years ?
4)He was okay with connecting with Indira even after the torture and abuse he went through ?
5) He kept asking her for money even after she did owned them ?
It’s sad that girl had to die over some political and power feud …
The evil in these power money minded human sometimes is beyond what a normal person can even comprehend…
Correction: Indira … Auto correct just changes it to India …
Correction: Disowned

Indrani is not Sheena's sister... she's her mother
Very true appreciate your view it’s very shocking
If it is irresponsible probably towards concealing Indrani's narcissistic personality. If you had watched it, you will know where this platform stands. It even made the viewers even angrier and driven to find justice for Sheena.
Not sure who murdered Sheena but Indrani is nowhere close to clean and a good Human she claims to be... multiple failed Marriages, hiding her Kids relationships is enough to have a strong doubt on her.
Peter Rahul murdered Sheena
I thought the docu did a good job of showing many shades of Indrani - she was not successful at showrunning the narrative the way she did during her book launch last year (when she manipulated even the most seasoned of journalists).
It was good to see Vaihayasi Pande Daniel featured - she followed the case at close quarters, and I followed her lucid writing for much of the trial.
Her astute comments in the docu, basis years of immersing herself in this sorry story, reflect the reasonable doubts we are all expected to cultivate re the 'buried truth'.
Sheena's murderer is still out there, daring us to think for ourselves.

Awesome.the trailer was enough to be a turn off.

*yes it's October
It's a wonderful docu series.
I don't agree with this review😮 at all. I think it's very well made. U have to understand tat there is a commercial aspect to all content which must be considered. Indrani was the only one willing to speak. So mayb it was on the condition thy name it after her. Only speculating though. But she's narcissistic enough to do so. And if anything she's shot herself in the foot by doing this. It makes her look nothing but guilty as hell. I think it should have been named LUCY if u ask me😂😂
I did look forward to watching it but essentially after investing numerous hours I didn't learn even one tiny weeny piece of new information. It seems more eye balling piece of content then anything else. Waste of time

omg so true
Do not miss THE DESI CRIME PODCAST on the same case. There you will find evidence that this Netflix series is not telling you.
Can you give the link?
What i've took from this Netflix rendition of the case is sloppy next to none investigation, corrupted police, a narcissitic b*tch trying to convince everyone she has empathy, unqualified lawyers and lack of empathy for the murdered vicitim.
Which mother in the world would leave their daughter with someone who raped her?
One thing which Indrani doesn't say out loud is Sheena is an unwanted child conceived by her rapist hence she doesn't care whether she lives or dies. We can't expect a mother to care for her child just because she gave birth. Most men don't do and noone questions them.
Then what about her son? She's a liar. She is my aunt's cousin. Her parents also were not perfect, so maybe it had an impact upon her.
I Saw series...who will go to raigad at midnight to watch plots.. case is closed.. well planned and executed .. its a financial angle murder...,not a emotional side murder.. Only Rahul and driver is honest.. baaki sab bakwas bolthe hai..
