I’m a simple man, I see Mr. Chen post a video, I click to watch. Some of the best content out there, keep up the amazing work! Thanks for all the rad content.
Larry has an eye for quality videos and shoots the right projects. Nice to see these builds coming together and getting some input from the owners that it will be driven. They will use it for exhibitions of the various types of driving. Reminds me of when Ken & Scott spoke about how the Hoonicorn purpose was for shoots but the car had to deliver to meet all driving needs. I'm excited to see everyone's new build at SEMA for the love of automotive.
I like how Larry features everything. Not just the cars that HE likes. He doesnt stick to a certain type. Caters to all different styles of enthusiasts and all different approaches to modding cars. You’re doing a great job man.
The only thing is that the execution of said AWD is completely different not being longitudinal engine and transmission and not as low center of gravity.
@@oghomelesskid that's because it is entirely incorrect, to the extent that it is almost surprising that someone could be so uneducated as to even entertain the thought in the first place. There is literally zero similarity between the gt86 chassis and anything subaru has ever done. I believe the chassis is wholly a toyota product, with a subaru motor sitting in it
Ryan Tuerck is also building a Celica GT4 with the GR Corolla drivetrain. Similar concept but different build process. Cant wait for the completed build for SEMA.
I love you Larry. So thorough and consistent with your uploads. And the fact that they're interesting and complete. I thank you and appreciate you good sir. Glad you're with us my good man Absolute.✌️,+♥️
they are but it sadly doesn't, in my opinion, look like a celica. It's pretty much what the current supra looks like. Yes the Celica Supra was the original car and then they ended up splitting into the Celica and Supra with their own models but I just prefered the look of the st185 and 205 over the supra both then and now
The car would have to be a lot taller for an inline engine to fit and still meet are the required regulations. I would love for my BRZ to have a stock turbo, but I would not want an inline engine in it. The ultra low center of gravity and low silhouette of the car is what gives it a lot of its driving character.
@@Stuka87 they obviously would have made design choices to accommodate. glad you enjoy the car but personally don't want a historically problematic subaru engine
@@jaron95 i know right! the well documented oil starvation issues. the amount of RTV they use to seal the oil pan which ends up clogging the pick up. hilarious!
somethings never really click until someone say it out loud but it has never hit me that subaru engines don't mount to the chassis. it sits on the subframe 🤯
So is this GR 86 an example or exercise in whats possible? Such as a being a show car piece or is it going to be used in competition? And if used for competition then why a sports car body.

Is that a subframe jig ? Surely that cannot be the final product ... Whats the weight distribution going to be 63/37 ? This is a SEMA HYPE build right ?
It’s going to drive way different, and not in a good way either. taller raised engine and mounted to frame. The science points to the making of a Frankenstein
I don' t think I'll be impressed with this GT4 built.. looks just like every FRS/brz/GR86 with "GT4" graphics. I"m looking forward to Ryan Tuerks GT4 st205 that shiet is about to be sick!
This is such a backwards Engeneering. Turning a longitudinal engine with good weigh balance into a front wheel drive crap. I anything it should have be done like a WRX.
Subaru and Audi layouts have the entire engine out in front of the wheels to allow the longitudinal transmission to power the front wheels. Wouldn't work in this chassis with its front wheels so far forward.
@@d34thby1337 that is why this conversion is pointless. To do it right would need a splitter after the transmission and send power to a front differential with a drive shaft. Like BMW Mercedes Lexus or Infinity. The R35 GTR way with the transmission in the back even better.
And that's totally possible, but I'm pretty sure the idea behind the build is to do something fun by combining GR parts to create a homage to an old rally car.
@@d34thby1337 or it’s searching for feedback to make the next GR86 on the Corolla platform. To which I say defeats the point already have the GR corolla. Better project could have been a Celica or Celica GTS with the G16 motor tuned to the moon. 🌙

I mean, a BRZ/GT86 has been half-an-Impreza chassis since the start, so this is a natural swap to see play out. Excited to see the progress.

Love this build fellas 💪🏼💪🏼
Love the car, am I the only one who thinks they should’ve made it awd on a BRZ instead?
If only Toyota brought back the modern day Celica.
Its in the works. Mr2 aswell
GR Corolla?

It’s like celica and Hawkeye hatch had a more celica like baby 😍🔥🔥
Regarding door cards, Outbound Motorsports has one in production. Looks great!!

This is part of why Subarus have such a low center of gravity.
most RWD cars have the engine mount to the subframe.
Chances this becomes a production model?
Shouldn't be the car /chasis on a jig if ur trying to revamp the suspension not hoisted on the lift?
I hope that someone will put an impreza drivetrain in a BRZ body
So is this GR 86 an example or exercise in whats possible? Such as a being a show car piece or is it going to be used in competition? And if used for competition then why a sports car body.
The original GTFours were a "sports car" body so I guess this just fits the aesthetic, given the Celicas were never very good looking
Wait, they did transverse mounted engine FWD/AWD trans? Why not use STI components with a North/South engine set up like a Subaru?
Smh😢
"Longitudinal" is the word you're looking for
@toyota please take notes and do this from factory!
