I'm so glad to see that people miss the Celica as much as I do. & if Toyota brings it back, I would buy two immediately. (1st car was a white 1993 Celica GT 5spd coupe.)
Toyota couldn't figure out how to use the 4 cylinder over a 3 (we all know 4 cylinders run with less vibrations than a 3) and they refuse to bring the Corolla or Yaris GR to the states. I don't trust them to make a non We Todd Did decision at this point. Which makes all of this kind of odd because they did put a proper engine (inline 6) and adult transmission in the MKV Supra.
This is coming out really good. Having had some of my BRZ taken apart before, its cool to see everything they changed. They will definitely need a strut tower brace of some sort. With the factory v-bars removed, the car actually has a noticeable about of twist in corners.
Awesome!!!! Man I wish Toyota offered this stock, with that G16E-GTS engine! Without the rally effects! Or just bring back the Celica with this powertrain! I'd buy this so fast!!!! 😢😅
4:46 Can I get a shout out to the battery supplier?! Having the regular exterior lights on along with the rally pod lights on AND then starting effortlessly? 😅
Awesome build looks like an old Celica rally car :) The engineering is just amazing. Larry make a video on Hyundai, the garage that mods Hyuindays N cars like I20N, and I30N : )
Mr. Chen, it would be amazing if you could exercise your Toyota connections to one day do a deep dive on the Toyota Super Taikyu GR86 w/1.4L G16 😁 I will use the video as a guide when I swap my car heh
Looks nice but i don’t get it. The GR Corolla exists so why this? The whole point of the GR86 is to be an all motor RWD easy to drift car. Maybe built a new car on the GR corolla chassis? IDK
That's a whole lot of money to spend on a car you're going to totally rebuild when there are just as good first gens you can get for like a quarter the price 😂
This was my first time watching any of Larry's content and I wasn't overly impressed. Evasive are pros. The car isn't going to hesitate on startup. They've got an ebrake installed. Wow. The windows are Lexan, like race cars usually are. Lightpods already exist for the 86 because people already use them in rally. I dunno, it just gave off a vibe of when teenagers ask you "how much horsepower does it have?" That not what makes a car like this special. Larry's got real experience with technically challenging builds, why is he asking these shallow questions? It's got a transverse powerplant in a chassis usually fitted with a longitudinal powerplant. We want to know the details - what's the custom subframe look like? Is it a modified Corolla subframe made to fit the 86? What unibody modifications were made to accommodate the transverse motor? Could the swap have been done without Motech? These in-depth looks are a great opportunity to capture information that someone else might use to build something similar. Ask questions like you want to take that information home and do it yourself.
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with this. It would've been a lot more work to put a longitudinal AWD drivetrain together, given that the only ones that exist in Toyotas are in pickups, but it would've kept the best thing about the GR86 intact: its tail-happiness.
Changing an under stressed, bigger displacement engine for a smaller, highly stressed one doesn’t make sense for me. It doesn’t even have a better center of gravity.
They made a Celica prototype. Lol.
😂 YES
Just missing the standard circle lights
@Ryantuerck is building a celica st204 and making it awd with gr corolla motor as well
evasive : fine, i'll do it myself
that's on point actually, i like your thinking brotha
Hopefully this is teaser for Celica Gr-Four debut at Tokyo Auto Salon in January and possibly Mr2 as well.
We can dream can’t we 🥲

Ohhhhhh…I see, they built my DREAM CAR. Amazing!!
The Celtica gt4 vibes are great!
the rally lamp pod really did it for me, don't fancy the modern square LED pods
Agreed!
Welcome back, Celica GT-FOUR.
I haven't fully watched the video yet, but Larry's choice in music is insanely good!
Evasive is the only shop I trust. Great build
why do you say that like you have a car that they would want to work on or the money to pay for it?
Some heavy foreshadowing here (i.e. rumored Gen 3 GR86 with the 1.6L and the AWD Celica coupe with the 2L 4cyl)
Wow! Amazing build. Looks like a fun ride.
Thank you larry for documenting this one of a kind build ❤
This looks amazing, thank you for sharing the updates with us
toyota please make this happen! 🤞🏻
the look when you ask him if he checked the ebrake lol
Works for me. Thanks for sharing Larry
Should have come from the factory like that the perfect all rounder for a spirited canyon drive
she’s fire son liken it 🤛🏻🔥💯💪🏻

This is great. Good job evasive

Guess it's a Celica GR 4 now then. Amazing build and great coverage.
yessss Celica GT4 vibes 😍

where I can get that awesome wing?
Love this build

Love seeing another “rally” build
make it out to the next GRCsocal event in the dirt!
What wing is that ?
I'd love to see them push this for full gravel / dirt spec rally
this is dope.
i wonder if the DAT transmission can fit in the gr86
Dream modern GT-Four.
How about that motor and keep it rwd?
I think someone already did that with an ae86
What spoiler is that?
@@jessewillis7309 I think I found it , the s-craft rear wing by myjapandirect
Its AMG way of beefing cars, just A45 every car model we have.
I really like it !
I need those lights on my car
The roll cage design, is that a standard design? I see the double lateral in the middle seems excessive but I don’t know about cages so
how do I get those rally lights
OMG 🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎👌👌👌
Anyone know the company that makes that wing ???
@@dr.johndoe1603 s-craft rear wing by myjapandirect I think that’s it
Nice Build
Badass
the frs/86 should’ve always been built like this. no boxer IMO
Well, that escalated quickly lol
This is what we could have gotten instead of the Corolla GR.
channel you're inner 22B and AE86 little one - Celica GT4 and WRX STI
Should be AWD and 400bhp from factory. Such a gutless car!
Cool!
Amazing car. Larry's comments not adding to the glory though lol
Nice
what is that wing?!?!?!?!?
@@gundamlover72 s-craft rear wing by myjapandirect
10:28 he didn’t like that question, or being questioned !!!
There was a little weird moment there
Or is it just me ???
Love the build but whoever welded that exhaust needs more practice 🥲
Please tell me they're going to add a GT4 style bonnet. Puhleeeese.... ;-)

Its call a project
GR86 better chassis platform. Better looking. More mods available as it's been around longer. Room to modify to hearts content. List goes on and on.
Man this car was designed to be modded. Anyone can do what they want
The air box is the same size as the engine. 😅
👀
Such a sexy car 😫

Ford make an rs200
How Toyota-Subaru should have built the GR86, with AWD (as an option).
They should’ve just added AWD and called it a Celica in the first place
They got a GR Yaris already 4wd. should have been rwd
“I wish Toyota had something like this…” ahhh it’s called a gr corolla.
You may not have noticed, it’s subtle - but the GR Corolla actually has 4 doors (not counting the hatch as a door). The GR86 just has 2.
gg
As a Subaru should be.

So much better then the Subaru engine
so the point is....Toyota can make this if they wanted to.
inline would be cooler
Or, basically buy a BMW M240i xDrive. Essentially starting from a RWD platform, rather than a transverse platform.
😂😂😂
Fwd based awd 😢

So you took a RWD chassis and turned it into a sideways engine FWD biased AWD system? That is football-bat level ghey.
I was going to watch this until I read you put that abomination of an engine in it.
