Watching your videos has slowly made me realize that I should totally go back to reading fanfics!! .. especially after reading a fanfic one of my friends made for a game called The Binding of Isaac (The fic is called TMTRAINER btw and it's SOOO wonderfully written!! Even if you know jack shit about the game it's a super enjoyable read that's really deep)

However, my mom almost caught me reading a fanfic (another MHA one) a couple of months ago and I was in the middle of... a really spicy fanfic. Fortunately, I don't think she was paying attention to what I was reading (or if she did, she decided it was none of her business).

Coley's voice is so great to listen to while actually writing a fic, it's like listening to your friend ramble about every fandom they're in and the lore behind it while you try to make fanart.
I was actually shocked that you read so many fics this year. But a majority of fics I read tend to be of lengths from 100,000 to even 600,000... so it can take me a bit to get through them. And sometimes they're not even finished so when they get updated I'll reread them.
I was literally just watching fanfic tiktok compilations because I was...well, wanting to see others talk about fanfic. And now I get to watch the person I like hearing talk about that the most. Thanks Coley! :)

I think making your own contribution can be valuable when there's only like 3 fics, even if you're not confident in your ability to write (I'm certainly not). There's so little that any contribution to the pool is *something*, and if you're not doing it, who else will? But that's just my feelings on it yknow
I somehow knew the top ship would be wangxian cuz I remember very clearly when I got into that fandom, I stayed for a good year or two. The sheer amount of GOOD fics is ridiculous, tho I didn’t have such luck with hualian for some reason and would appreciate recs (I’m very open to discussing wangxian fics so don’t be shy ppl!)
It's a good thing because it's really convenient when you couldn't find a fic that searching with specific tags isn't enough, even when you remember the plotline of the fanfic

Not sure why, but I’ve always been the kind of person who feels weird reading fanfic as much as spending an hour or two before I go to bed making them in my brain and showing them to no one. What really weirds me out, however, is, if I were to hypothetically have written everything down for this year and do stats on it, there would be some interesting similarities between mine and Coley’s…
Similarly, and at the same time not quite, I got an idea of a enormous fix-it fic to kinda end them all for one piece of media, and sometimes when reading some fic I imagine the scene if it was in my fic (basically if I was there to call things and people out en masse). It's been months, maybe a year since it started in my head, and I never started nor do I intent to, or can actually write it, got no time and I don't want notifications on my email, but I continue to expand on it again and again.

I’ve run into more issues with Rebecca Schafer, the author of the Market of Monsters series, since the “p” in my last name and the “f” in hers can be very easily misheard. This might find itself being an issue for me in the future since I’m actually working towards writing something to be published. Trust me, being stuck on one piece of media isn’t the worst thing. I did one a year in high school. Now, on the other hand, I’m stuck jumping back and fourth between works in the span of minutes. Throw in stuff on my OW stuff and the beginning of a D&D hobby, and now my brain finds itself juggling 8 fic ideas an hour on average…

I'd love to see you do a video on Twitter fics! For several years I wrote Twitter RP with groups of friends and it was so much fun! I always likened it all to being "interactive fanfiction" where each person chose a character and wrote from their POV while creating stories by interacting with other accounts. (I had WAY too many Twitter accounts for a while before fleeing the site back to Tumblr- luckily I backed up everything and had a bunch already reposted over there, lol!) One group (writing Silmarillion RP) even had a tradition of writing AUs on "Weird Wednesday" where we'd all choose the same AU and morph our characters into the new world for 24 hours before returning to our normal versions the next day. Was some of the best writing times in my life.
I totally get the "I'll watch a thing then BINGE READ FANFIC" cause that's me with Yu-Gi-Oh. ANY time I rewatch that show, I just....I love puzzleshipping fics. It's...SUCH a good ship. So precious. I don't really read too many SHIP fics tho because I really do think the shipping wars of ATLA and Harry Potter just traumatized me lol. Honestly with the omegaverse stuff, it’s so common now it sneaks up on you sometimes. Like I remember the early supernatural days and struggling to find it a bunch in other ships I like. Now I’ll find a description I like, miss reading it in the tags, begin to read, and it’s just there. I just shrug and move on in the story and continue reading. Suuuuper common now.

Not sure why, but I’ve always been the kind of person who feels weird reading fanfic as much as spending an hour or two before I go to bed making them in my brain and showing them to no one. What really weirds me out, however, is, if I were to hypothetically have written everything down for this year and do stats on it, there would be some interesting similarities between mine and Coley’s…
I do this too!! I read a short fic in bed, then write something inevitably based off of it until i fall asleep
Similarly, and at the same time not quite, I got an idea of a enormous fix-it fic to kinda end them all for one piece of media, and sometimes when reading some fic I imagine the scene if it was in my fic (basically if I was there to call things and people out en masse).
It's been months, maybe a year since it started in my head, and I never started nor do I intent to, or can actually write it, got no time and I don't want notifications on my email, but I continue to expand on it again and again.

And you're at least able to Switch pieces of media. I'm stuck on a particular one.
It's my hero academia btw, I just can't stand how dumb everyone is in terms of common sense while the world there is there is so interesting for theories, with all the Quirk theory and the social analysis one can make of it.
And I just want to make the characters gain common sense, but I've got no time for writing a fic it's just agonizing.

I’ve run into more issues with Rebecca Schafer, the author of the Market of Monsters series, since the “p” in my last name and the “f” in hers can be very easily misheard. This might find itself being an issue for me in the future since I’m actually working towards writing something to be published.
Trust me, being stuck on one piece of media isn’t the worst thing. I did one a year in high school. Now, on the other hand, I’m stuck jumping back and fourth between works in the span of minutes. Throw in stuff on my OW stuff and the beginning of a D&D hobby, and now my brain finds itself juggling 8 fic ideas an hour on average…

i once threw a full fit against my brother that took my phone so that he wouldn't see my AO3 history. He beat the shit outta me for not letting him even tho I'm an adult and I knew he would but it was worthy, sacrifices need to be made sometimes for the love of fanfiction.

The only thing I'll admit about my AO3 history is there is a lot of unalive birds, The rest is a dark and scary place for my eyes only.
I would shed blood before telling someone what I read on Ao3 when I go incognito instead of on my account (my account history is relatively clean bcs of this so it’s a good cover)

Interesting that you've read a lot of A.U's and modern. It seems like a heck of a lot of people don't like those two tags. I see a lot of people saying that on Reddit 😅😅 I, for one, absolutely love alternative universes as well as modern au's.

Its okay Coley, I read like 300 something fics this year but read like 3 million+ words because I read The Grand Unified Theory of Shen Qingqiu like 5-6 times which made up the majority of those words :D It's over half a million words and counting and I adore it

I've looked over my own history, and I've been reading a LOT of angst. Also bittersweet endings and hurt/comfort fics were common for me this year. Currently reading one called "We can walk straight through hell with a smile." And it HURTS bur it's so good. It's a PJO/HOO fanfic.

I'd love to see you do a video on Twitter fics! For several years I wrote Twitter RP with groups of friends and it was so much fun! I always likened it all to being "interactive fanfiction" where each person chose a character and wrote from their POV while creating stories by interacting with other accounts. (I had WAY too many Twitter accounts for a while before fleeing the site back to Tumblr- luckily I backed up everything and had a bunch already reposted over there, lol!)
One group (writing Silmarillion RP) even had a tradition of writing AUs on "Weird Wednesday" where we'd all choose the same AU and morph our characters into the new world for 24 hours before returning to our normal versions the next day. Was some of the best writing times in my life.

I totally get the "I'll watch a thing then BINGE READ FANFIC" cause that's me with Yu-Gi-Oh. ANY time I rewatch that show, I just....I love puzzleshipping fics. It's...SUCH a good ship. So precious. I don't really read too many SHIP fics tho because I really do think the shipping wars of ATLA and Harry Potter just traumatized me lol. Honestly with the omegaverse stuff, it’s so common now it sneaks up on you sometimes. Like I remember the early supernatural days and struggling to find it a bunch in other ships I like. Now I’ll find a description I like, miss reading it in the tags, begin to read, and it’s just there. I just shrug and move on in the story and continue reading. Suuuuper common now.

In my opinion is really good, the graphics are awesome, the soundtrack is pretty good and it's really creative.
