Edgar, thanks for the videos. You can get to the cruise switch without removing the steering wheel. Just remove just the airbag component without removing the steering wheel itself. Make sure you disconnect the battery. There are 2 round plastic caps on the right and left side of the steering wheel. Pull both caps. Then insert a medium flat head screwdriver in these holes, and line up to push on 1/8" metal spring that retains the airbag assembly onto the steering wheel. Push toward the center of the steering column on the spring and gently pull on the cover at the same time. The cover is released one side at a time. Once it is loose you can get to the 2 screws that hold the cruise switch assembly on. I didn't even pull the airbag assembly all the way off, I just moved it aside far enough to remove the screws and wire harness. I disassembled my switch, and it looked perfect, but I took a pencil eraser, and gently polished all of the gold plated contacts on both the IC board, and also on the rubber switch membrane. Then I reassembled everything and my cruise is working GREAT! Turns on the first time... everytime. Thanks for your video on how to disassemble the switch. BTW... I did attempt to get my steering wheel off, but was unsuccessful. I turned the clamping bolt counter-clockwise forever, until it became so tight (going out) that I was concerned it would break, so I abandoned going that direction. I do wish my steering wheel WOULD have come off, I just don't understand why it didn't. Thanks again!

+Steven Schultz I just poked around in the steering wheel for like a half hour with a screwdriver and didn't feel anything like a spring to compress. You say line up. Line up what ? When you turn the steering wheel everything moves at the same time are you saying to line up the steering wheel or what ?

Can you add the radio controls using this method? I have the cruise buttons, and the blank insert where the radio controls would go. I'm just not sure how much trouble it would be to add them. Not sure if it matters, but I have the single CD/ AM FM/ no tape. Also I have the factory DVD player.

This was very helpful, up until the part where you don't show how to remove the airbag assembly to get to the back of the cruise control switch mounting points. You said that that's how you do it, but you don't actually show how to do it. I was successful in getting my steering wheel off and then putting it back on.

I have looked at ALL your videos to find that “How to deactivate the Airbag/ Removing the Airbag” video. You stated: “That’s another video.” So, where is is? I am about to remove my steering wheel, & I can’t find the instructional video you said you would post.

My 06 freestar cruise was working once in a great while. Now the light on the dash doesn't even come on. What would casue that ???? I also tried to bypass the brake switch by the master cylinder that didn't help the cruise work either.

replace the cruise switch. it commonly goes bad. I replace them weekly. bad design that let's dirt and moisture thru. most common reason the go bad is something spilled on steering wheel live an 84 ounce big gulp. GOOD LUCK!

+Edgar Krampitz I cant get the old one out. I may have to buy a whole new steering column to replace it.

+Edgar Krampitz I did. I poked around in both sides with a flat screwdirver for a half hour and didn't feel or see a thing to press

when the steering wheel is removed, you could show us how to remove the next part. But you did like Scotty Kilmer, he turned off the camera than open all the component and say Here is how to open. i mean he never show how to open the parts like you did. but thanks anyway
