Rickie Lee Jones is one of those artists who oozes so much "got this" confidence that, even in the mere act of adjusting the mic, she knows she already owns the crowd. That kind of swagger (with the pipes and songwriting skill to back it up) is an "either you have it or you don't" gift that cannot be taught.
Rickie Lee's interpretation of this song is just from another planet. She uses her voice like just another musical instrument. And she has such fine musical antennae. Awesome accompaniment by David and the rest of the band, too.
For a singer to come in cold ( without instrumental intro) shows she'd confident and focused. Thank you for putting your name on that song lady. Great accompanyment. Get the feeling she busted in on their gig. Thank you for being so gracious.
I'm 17 yo and did u know? I'm in love in Sanborn's jazz I could listen to this sadly version of autumn leaves all day night long then loop this till I get bored
I like to listen to different versions of a standart. There are many great musicians, but I always come back or end up with David Sanborn. He's the best, simply amazing!!!
beautiful work. She needs a band that is exceptional and willing to go - no - able and ready to move in new directions even as they play traditional ballads. almost did that here... With singers that forge new directions its easy to forget how much work they have done once the directions become part of our language. Nice to see them together.

What a treat . Thanks
That's one song my mom used to sing a lot: "Autumn Leaves." (That's why I know it by heart.😊)
She’s got such a great voice and knows how to sing so well
I've been looking for RIcky Lee Jones singing this song, all over. I found it. Shazamm!
She sings this song with its heart exposed.
Such a rare jewel. What else to say?
If all she did was sing like this, I'd be a fan, but DAMN. She's ALSO a powerhouse songwriter.

Love Dave and Rickie so much, but the entire band is superb, lovin' the piano and bass as well.
It really is a great DVD and the band is top notch!

I'm with you on this. David's playing in the 90's and early 2000's was on point!
Great to see footage of RLJ i have not seen before. Thank you...
I also like very much Ricky Lee Jones fabulous interpretation, so emotional!

Spellbinding performance!
fantastic
thanks for sharing! I was looking for this recording for many many years!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Had to RIP it and share for the masses. A wonderful performance by all.
Love anything with Sanborn on it. Whether it's Rickie Lee Jones Or Screamin Jay Hawkins. This bt far my favorite rendition of this
C'est une chanson ...
Thank you!
David Sanborn.
why I can't find it in the table of elements😁
Is Rickie's version pre Eva Cassidy, because if it is... I think Ms. Jones gave Eva some inspiration...
However, I Will NOT Honor The *Thumbs-Down* Icon Simply Because Of David
Nothing to add:)
Wow spelled backwards!
Un volume sonore trop faible...

Rikki is an acquired taste and isn't everyones cup of tea. I like some of her stuff but wouldn't consider myself a fan. Thanks for stopping by.
She’s brilliant and is your loss. And when you say “this Rickie chick” clearly you haven’t heard her earlier work.
