As an addition to the Karen who died in the zoo: That was her real name, and not her personality. This was a disabled woman with whose greatest passion in life were cheetahs. She made a very stupid mistake by going into their enclosure and this was recognised by all relevant parties. It was ruled an accident by the authorities and no criminal investigations followed. Her family does not blame the zoo, and still visits it including the cheetahs that killed her as part of their grieving process. The zoo was not sued. In fact, her family loudly spoke out against the people who suggested the cheetahs should be euthanised for the incident. Tragic, but resolved as it should be.

That Karen didn't just take a dog
She kidnapped a therapy dog named Rip who was 6 months old, then dropped him in another state
Apparently she did this because of a property line dispute
Don't worry, the woman was arrested, and Rip's still alive and was returned to his original owners

Your bisexual theory makes sense to me. I tried to talk about my bisexual thoughts with my youth group leader and he told me to just ignore the gay half and date/marry a man. Jokes on him though, through the general 50/50 shot, I ended up marrying a man, but not after I started transitioning and taking testosterone. The church tried, but I married a man like they wanted and made it gay

That's kind of mindboggling. It reminds me of people saying that they believe that we should work to end gender discrimination, but they're not feminists. Of course it's fine to not claim a label even though it technically fits you, but that's usually not what people mean when they say that. I think the confusion might stem from the idea that you have to relate to (and largely agree with) others with the same identity in order to claim that identity

@liamsteam walsh Yes because neglect is abuse, and if abuse is punishable then you can be punished for neglect

    • @anjelica948
      @anjelica948 ปีที่แล้ว +39

@liamsteam walsh Idk where this took place, but it sounds like the US. And in the US, parents can 100% be charged with neglect, especially if it causes death. I think the police typically charge it as manslaughter (actions that resulted in death, but death was not intended).
The issue with vaccines/denying of medical treatment, is that especially if the parents claim they withheld care due to a religious belief, it becomes very difficult to parse out whether the parents can be charged. And the US also has vague and hard to pin down ideas about the idea of AMA (against medical advice). If a patient is in the hospital but demands to leave, despite the doctors saying that it will put the patient’s life at risk, the patient is still allowed to leave. Because trying to keep the patient there could result in charges of assault or kidnapping on the part of the medical staff. But it gets more confusing when the patient is not able to decide for themselves, such as a child, or someone who does not have mental capacity to understand the consequences of their choices (such as someone who is actively psychotic, has dementia, etc).
In this case, the parents probably were not charged- bc the mother did try to get medical care Eventually, but it was obviously too late. Because there was an attempt made eventually, based on the letter of the law, the prosecution would probably have a very difficult time getting a conviction. Its not illegal in the states to not vaccinate your kids, so even though her actions resulted in her child’s death, based on the letter of the law, she’s not criminally liable.
Now if the family wanted to sue the mother in a civil case, that probably would be easier. But I mean, what would be the point? No amount of money could ever bring the child back.

As a bisexual who grew up in a Christian home, was closeted till my late 30s (and still am with my family), and spent most of my life hating myself for being attracted to men, allow me to say your theory about closeted bisexuals is absolutely correct. It's also why I am so adamant that calling homosexuality a sin is evil. You're causing people to hate themselves over something they have no choice about. I took me a while to understand I'm bi and that the fact that I thought "I could only ever love that one person I am currently loving" was the teenager aspect of my feelings, not the attraction to men or women.

If someone was into it and liked it before, they probably would be again, given the chance. I have a story that's sort of the opposite of "the homophobes protecting their children from the gay" post. In middle school I took a class where they taught us about melted crayon art. I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to make a masterpiece using the technique. The original idea was this girl trying to hold onto an umbrella that's flying away with one hand and then a mirror image of herself that was doing the same with the other, to represent me and my sibling, and a bunch of rainbow crayons melted down over it like rain. The area under the umbrella was supposed to be mostly color free because the umbrella was supposed to "shelter" that area, not from the gay or anything, I barely knew what that was back then, I just thought it would look cool. Well that got all botched, and the canvas ended up one big rainbow melt with me and my sibling in black silhouette painted on top, which turned out to be perfect because me and my sibling both discovered we are very gay

This was to protect the creature from the storm. I did that, but had some of the rainbow rain under the mushroom with my lil rabbit. Teacher loved it. This was art inspired by a children's book about a lot of animals hiding under a mushroom to get out of the rain and the mushroom growing to accommodate them. Loved that teacher. Only kid who added rain with my creature, and now, (to my knowledge) only gay kid from that class.

I think for some people, it’s more nuanced than that. Many military members cheat on their spouses while away. So it seems fair for the lonely spouses at home to also seek some comfort and human touch. Some people could be away for a year. That’s a lot. Some spouses have understandings about this and if they are honest with each other and okay with it, I don’t see the harm. That’s their business. It’s the same reason may long distance relationship is tough and usually doesn’t last long term.
My cousin was a military. She didn’t cheat or demand anything. I don’t think you can generalize. Maybe it’s a southern or midwestern Stepford wife thing more than a military spouse thing. She raised her first son on her own while her husband was away. The kid had to be reintroduced to his dad. He was used to just having a mom. Which is quite normal for a lot of people anyway, but he did have a dad and just forgot.

He told me that he overheard me in the pub once, when I talked to someone and explained about sexuality being a spectrum, and that most people aren't on the side of "completely straight" or "completely gay". For some, it's just that they can also see how people of their own gender are attractive, others can also be attracted to them, but still prefer the opposite gender, and so on. He told me that overhearing me helped him realise and accept that he is bisexual, and that the main reason he wanted to meet up was because my random conversation in a pub had such a huge impact on him. I think that was a great reminder to always speak in a way as if someone could overhear you, and make sure you are saying things yo want to be overheard.

I am ashamed of this to this day. I kept putting off getting a tetanus shot because like all adults, we can choose when to not go to the doctor for a minor thing but our irrational fears (like needles) tend to get in the way of common sense. I live on a ranch, the owners of that said ranch had sheep with some little lambs. But they did not check to see if they got tetanus shots themselves (yes, lambs can get tetanus), and I volunteered to help make the lamb comfortable in the hopes a shot could save it's life in time so long as we kept it hydrated and not lying on its side to prevent breathing problems. The little lamb's jaw was locked and I have to hand feed it water as it weakly tried to drink water. That whole day was the most exhaustive, stressful, and gut wrenching moments of my life. I still remember it shaking as it's legs locked as it was basically paralyzed. I can't begin to imagine a human being going through this. And I got my shot soon after this event. So when I hear about parents refusing to give their children medicine that could prevent horrific suffering, all I can think about is that lamb and how the miracles are only possible if we took all the opportunities to guarantee them.
Also f*** these parents for putting their children through suffering.

@@melancolielupine2023 I mean polyamory is a thing. and polyamorous marriages do exist too, mind you. at least unofficially. We all have the christian marriage in mind, but marriage is a really broadly accepted concept from a LOT of different cultures with different ways to make it work...
And even within the bounds of the legal marriage present nowadays in most country, some couples do involve themselves with other beyond promiscuity in full knowledge of what their partners are doing, with their benediction. It's a rare thing, but not unheard off.
My point being : Marriage, unless strictly Christian, can have the rules you want for it. We all have a different take on it, I guess.
The idea that marrying someone mean you HAVE to stay loyal , while agreed upon by the majority who's monogamous, is not accepted by everyone.
If a trio of people loves each others, why shouldn't they have the right to a ceremony and a ring to show that to the rest of the world? If two people marry, and still have other lovers in their lives, why should it be bad? You said Marriage is based on fidelity, and I wholeheartedly agree : but fidelity to what and who? isn't that for the people who marry to decide? and then, if so, if they consider that having extraconjugal relationships is A-ok, isn't it still within the bounds of said marriage? To me this is way less set in stone that you make it to be.
To each their own, is, in my mind a very important motto to remember.

I was in canyon village and there was no communication to us until we started threatening to burn stuff (not sure if that was the actual reason or what, but people threatened and the next day, a meeting).
The first night we were all super stressed and did the only thing we could with no power, and no signal. We drank. A lot.
We all ended up hanging out in the employee common rooms and partying to cope. Some of us called the next day the great hangover because no one was doing well.

I've had strong attraction to other women before. Never sexual attraction, more at a soul level, like massive romantic crushes, but even deeper than many crushes I've had with men. Weirdly, the women I've been attracted to in that way have always been lesbians. Never acted on it, as I've never been interested in sexual activity with other women, only with men.
Although these days I'm not much interested in sexual activity with men, either!
Marriage to a man, with a lousy, painful, uncomfortable, un-arousing sex life, followed by an end to that relationship (bringing among other emotions a massive sense of relief at the notion of never having to have sex ever again) might have influenced that current lack of interest.
So if I was looking for another relationship now, I'd probably be looking at a mostly or wholly asexual relationship, but deep and commited with strong sense of love and mutual respect and attraction, with any gender! Fall in love with the person's mind, not their body.
Human sexuality and relationships are definitely not straight forward, even within the same person, wants and needs can vary over a lifetime!

Military spouses: If you want the privileges of rank, sign on the dotted line, go through training, serve and *earn* that rank. Don't imagine for a second that you're entitled to the privileges and renown of a rank that you don't have because you didn't earn it.

I suddenly realized that this same thing actually happened to my father. His first wife left him while in the military and ran off with another guy. Dad shared joint custody of my older half sibling for a while and paid child support, even after he married again. Dad was never bitter about it, he was such a trooper.

15:15 You're onto something here. I remember this post of this woman stating that having same sex attractive isn't a sin, but acting upon it is. Hearing you and remembering this makes one wonder just how many people are actually LGBT but falls back into that kind of mindset and ignore it. 💀The joke of her post was that someone in the comments said "hmu when God isn't looking, queen"

Lmaaaao that needy grandparent was basically like "if I'm not allowed to see my grandchildren all the time then I can't relate to my friends who talk about their grandkids, and I'll get so mad I'll pick fights with my friends and get physically hit, because I'm old enough to be a grandparent but not mature enough to handle having a conversation that I can't turn around to be about me, and it incites me to rage when people talk about things they have and I can't commandeer the topic".
That's literally exactly what they're saying. I have a friend like that, like she gets fucking annoyed if I mention any topic that isn't something she can talk about herself. I can't mention a movie she hasn't seen because then she can't interrupt me to talk more about it. If I mention something my brother did, she changes the subject to how she can't relate because she's an only child so let's talk about something her Tata did 25 years ago because that's something that can be about her life, despite being totally irrelevant tonthe conversation. She can't just hear me talk about something, and listen and wait until the subject changes to something where I offer her a place to add some thought.
You don't need to speak every few seconds, if there's nothing you can say because you have no anecdotes to relate to the ones your friends are telling, then just don't say anything, let them tell their anecdotes, and wait until something comes up where you can tell yours. People who get antsy and angry because they can't grab hold of the topic every few seconds to ramble about their life story, wind up having no friends in the end, and it's probably why your kids don't want to be around you or have their kids around you, learning your narcissistic bad habits.

@@thedumbdino5134 I'm not sure if I was agreeing with you or not, to be honest. I was going to say that military spouses and kids should get benefits to compensate for the difficulties of being in a military family, but I'm not sure what level of benefits they already get from base living, and what they should receive from the rest of us in terms of discounts.
I know there's a lot of folks who believe the families shouldn't get anything special, since they're not the ones going to war, but those families definitely face problems of their own and provide services to the country that most of us don't/can't. Like giving a soldier something to live for and come back home to.

For the theory you talked about- you’ve just described internalized homophobia, when a gay person is homophobic they face internalized homophobia.
I was one of these people, I found out at a young age (8) about these feelings and I thought they were bad- (I grew up in the church and my parents are conservatives) so I became homophobic and took it out on people, to this day I am upset with my past beliefs and the way I went about them
