      It's a product of colonialism. The Spanish loanwords was a result of 300 year rule Spanish colonization. The Americans would later colonized the country after the Philippine-American war. During the US colonial rule, the Americans mandated English as the country's official language. This resulted to the country's education system that requires Filipinos to speak English more than their native tongue which is why their language has now evolved into code-switching. Native languages such as Tagalog are no longer develop in its full potential because of the massive impact of colonization of Spain and its colonial successor USA.

      @Sinag Sarita Carriedo It is not a new law.. That age of consent is existing even before age of criminal liability is changed to 12. Age of consents means that when you reach that age.. Sex with consent does not count as statutory rape. Meaning having sex below that age (Which is 12 in the Philippines) is considered as statutory rape and you will be imprisoned for doing so. THAT is why right now in the senate, they are digging this thing up and I think they want to change it to 18. 12 being the age of consent. 18 being the legal age. I know it is insane but the law has been around for decades and not a lot of people knows about it. In society it's 18 but in the law it's 12. Just wait. I think they are going to pass a law increasing it from 12 to 18 making those pedophiles that have sex with 17 and below to be imprisoned. 12 being the age of consent is also the reason why 12 years old moms can't do anything with the one who impregnated them. I've known real 12 and 13 years old kids who are now mothers. Their partners are free because the law allows it.

Though 12 to me sounds a bit too young i’d probably have sex at that age if i had a partner at that time but i didn’t have anyone. (In my country we’re very educated on sex and it is not considered taboo. Parents would rather us talk about it and ask for protection/go to a gynecologist before it happens than to make us hide it and get pregnant at a young age.)

      We've been colonized by Spain, Japan and America. In the spain colonization era, the Spanish people made our ancestors speak only in Spanish so that's why you can hear some spanish words when we talk. And we were colonized by British people but not a lot of people knew about this because there are almost no record about it. We were colonized by Japan where we also adapted some of their words. And we were colonized by America after defeating Japan. In which after, they thought Filipinos about education. So basically, the reason why our language is kind of unique is due to years and years of colonization.

    "I think it has nothing to do with our religion"
    i have to disagree with this one. The major religions in our country consider sex (especially premarital) as taboo and because of that people in our country are scared to talk to about sex, let alone educate the population regarding safe sex and the like (especially teenagers). Other countries have lower cases of teenage pregnancy because of the sexual education that they receive at a young age in the household, in school, etc.

      pero tama ka rin. taboo ang usapang sex dito kaya mas nacucurious ang mga tao and since hindi tinuturo, they find ways on their own. kaso ayun nga lang, recklessly.

    It’s always so fascinating to listen to interviews from the Philippines. The language is very unique in how much it borrows from English and Spanish. People will speak one sentence in Tagalog, then a sentence completely in English, and then go back to Tagalog. I just love hearing it it’s so cool!

    • @Kurosawa917
      @Kurosawa917 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That happens everywhere in the world. I really dont understand why people are so mind blown about this about the PH. Every country in the world that shares boundaries with another one has this type of linguistic mode; they mix 2 languages. For ex. German- french, italian-french, spanish- portuguese, etc. India mixes with English. Spanish-english between Mexico and the US. French-english. In this video its just Tagalog-English and people go mind-blown. I dont understand.

    It’s interesting seeing the comments find it more interesting about the language (I’m Filipino). When I speak it in public (to other Filipinos or family on the phone) like school or in a store people get so fascinated. Watching the reaction of those who speak Spanish is more amusing because they get it in the first few words then are completely lost.

      nura smy Where did I say everybody has to be gay? Also, if everybody is gay, that’s clearly a bad thing because no one is going to reproduce to continue the species. My point is that homosexuality is essential in our society’s population status. Gay people need to be accepted and recognized within our heteronormative society in order to benefit us like adopting the thousands of orphans in the foster care and adoption system and of course, slowing our exponential growth of overpopulation.
