  • Taking a quick look at both the HAIX high liability boots & HAIX cold wet weather boots.
The high liability boots win for me hands down every time, apart for their looks.
    Thanks for watching!

It's good to see that I'm not the only one who wears Haix boots nearly every day. I buy a new pair every year, as due to my job, I thrash them & wear them out quickly.
One thing I have noticed though, is that the midsole starts to disintegrate before the sole is totally worn down. I'm on my fifth pair now & it's been the same every time.

I got a pair of high liability with the other lace system on. Only the toe caps are covered, might be an older model, I don’t know. I got them off eBay second hand for 80 quid. They are like brand new. Found them not to be as comfy as the altbergs. A 9 quid kiwi gel insole from Wilkinsons sorted them out.

Waheed Latif I find they fit true to size. I wear a size 11 trainer and the size 11 boot fits perfect. I wear the high liability all year round and find that your socks can get a bit sweaty at the toes, so guess the cold weather would be similar, but I haven’t had them on in the warmer months.

after finding german para boots a pig to get in decent used condition i went with the cold wet weather haix. Boot wise I take an 11M, I also have the 11W on at the moment and they have a little bit more play in, but they do come with an extra insole to take up any slack. The high liability range, which were made under contract by the MOD are no longer made, since they have changed manufacturer & design, so when stocks run out you'll have to switch over to civilian models. The replacement MOD boots, now made by AKU & Iturri are pretty ugly & don't look as well made as the Haix & Alt-bergs, budget oblige no doubt.

AKU and Altberg do not provide MoD CWW boots; Altberg provide the standard combat boot (made by Iturri), while AKU make the Pilgrim, which are only really suitable for cutting about or posing on the range. Haix and Karrimor used to provide CWW boots (the Karrimor ones were made by Iturri), but the only ones now in production are the Iturri branded ones, which are excellent. I have used mine on serious multi-day walks on Dartmoor without any issues. I would trust them anywhere.
I also have the previous issue Haix and Karrimor SF CWW boots; both are also very good, although I dislike the very small rand on the Haix ones, which also do not feel quite a solid as the Iturri or Karrimor SF boots. You can pick up a very good condition second hand pair of Iturris for £70-80.
