As a crocheter who is also making her first ever knit sweater, you're so right. knitting is SO MUCH harder but also when you ya get the hang of it it's chill
As a knitter i would recommend sizing down your needles with the ribbing element. this will make it a lot tighter and weirdly matches the size of the stockinet stiches much better :)
It looks amazing! Im a knitter as well and as I look at the stitches on your sweater, I think you might be knitting them twisted. I made this mistake for my first 2 years in knitting as well. To fix it, you just wrap the yarn around the needle counter - clockwise. But anyways, it looks beautiful! Wonderful Job!💕💕
I would buy an interchangeable set they’re so useful! Also as a crochet I would try continental knitting it is much easier to learn knitting that way. That’s how I learned knitting
@@melanielockeI got a bamboo set from Amazon! They have been great and only $40. I didn’t want to buy an expensive set since I’m also a beginner but this set is awesome!
I saw that sweater on Pinterest a few months ago and have been obsessing over it. Honestly I really like how yours turned out, might give it a try myself. ❤
I love when people get into knitting!! If you're serious about sweater knitting: I recommend getting an interchangeable needle set! So much easier to use
A little appreciate you post for you : Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have gotten the opportunity to get to know you and see you grow into the extraordinary woman that you are today and that you will continuing growing to be
I really get it when you said you are into fish currently!! Last year I bought 2 fish ceramics and one glass fish vase.... and I probably will make some crafty things with fish in the summer. Hopefully they turn out as awesome as your sweater
If you see yourself wanting to learn to knit more I'd recommend buying an interchangeable needle set, they're pricy but you don't have to buy individual needles which will add up in the long run
I'm a big fan of the Knitpro sets! They also offer separate cables that are longer than those that come in the sets. Most sets also come with cable connectors so you could make the cables as long as you would like!
@@melanielockedrops makes a afforable set and apparently their cables also work with some knitpro ones (however im not sure abt this but the needle set itself is really nice)
the fishes are so cute!! i'll definitely try to decorate something with this technique as for the ribbing, we usually use smaller needles (1 or 2 sizes down, 7mm needles in your case) so it can be tighter and i recommend you look into short rows for your next collars as it gives a round shape to them! they seem intimidating at first but they're cool
ohhhh shoot i didn’t know i needed smaller needles too🤣🤣 i thought it was just about the length but that actually makes way more sense! thank you for the advice🤗☺️💕
Cute sweater girl! Like someone pointed I think you maybe twisting your stitches. Also block your sweater for a better fit and feel! (although, I think your yarn is 100% polyester so I think you can just machine wash! Read the yarn label tho)
Love the end results! The fit and colour is so nice 😍 I think you are twisting your knit stitches, which might be why your ribbing seemed off! Its totally normal, during my first project I knitted it entirely with twisted stitches haha. Usually you'd want the stich to form a clear V shape, rather than a twist. You might have to figure out if you're yarning over differently and consciously untwist the stitches until it becomes second nature :) i went thru the same process so hopefully this helps! keep up the good work 💕
omg haha thank you for taking the time to explain this! i actually remember while making it thinking it didn’t matter which way i put the yarn over🤣🤣 i’ll definitely have to practice this a bit more
if you want to make another sweater like this, it looks like the color accents on the neck and sleeves is corrugated ribbing where you switch the color as you knit it
Hey girl, love the sweater! I think you might’ve been knitting twisted ribbing on the collar and first half of the bottom ribbing on the body! Lolol I think you figured out the correct way on the last couple rows of ribbing, but amazing job! I’m so inspired🥰😋
hi!! in the video/pattern the sizes aren’t written as small/medium/large, when you say you made it in a size small, does that equal to a size 1 in the written pattern? ❤️
Just a suggestion…your knit stitch is twisted. You are knitting into the back leg of the stitch instead of the front. No big deal except I’m sure you’d like to be knitting correctly. Also, by twisting every stitch, your work starts to bias. Which makes the entire sweater bias and twist so it won’t fit as well. 🥰😘
Just an Fyi i wanted to watch your vid to the end but the chaotic editing was very annoying. Give your self sometime in between editts and it will make a an easier to watch vid

Looks lovely! For the ribbing, you can also go down a needle size or two in order to make it look tighter and neater.
definitely doing this on my next sweater!!

I’ve been wanting to make a fish jumper too! What tutorial did you follow for the knitting?
the link to the video should be at about the 2minute marker!
What’s the name of the stitch at the end which you did on the sleeves and neck
hi!! in the video/pattern the sizes aren’t written as small/medium/large, when you say you made it in a size small, does that equal to a size 1 in the written pattern? ❤️
you twist your stitches! I personally do that on the ribbing so it's tighter :> Also u twist knits and on the ribbing it's not twisted anymore
Where can we find the pattern for this adorable sweater?
Uhm girl 😍 your skin is poppin
How was it yesterday Melody? I’m sorry that I couldn’t make it to see your video. I’m sure it turned out lovely.
Omg I just saw that same sweater on Pinterest yesterday but can’t find the pattern lol
Can you please link the video you used to make this ❤️
yes i’ll add it! it’s also linked during the video around the 2min mark when mentioned :)
what size did you make? i want to make one as well and am not sure what size to make
i did size small!
