  • A2B Tracking President and CEO, Peter Collins demonstrates the power of Mobile RFID Asset Tracking.
Using an off-the-shelf Android smartphone coupled with the Zebra RFD8500 scanner, Collins demonstrates how easy it is to leverage the A2B Tracking cloud-based software to perform critical asset tracking features such as asset location, check-in/check-out, cycle counts and more.
Collins also demonstrates the proprietary Pro-Locate™ feature to efficiently search entire facilities to locate a specific asset. Again, using only a smartphone and the Zebra RFD8500, Collins is able to sweep the area with mobile RFID focusing only on a unique asset. The Pro-Locate™ feature alerts the user when the missing asset has been detected - usually within 6-8 feet.

The Zebra RFD5500 was discontinued in 2017. The service and support discontinued in 2018. It was replaced by the RFD8500 and is a much better unit.

I like your video. And I’m happy to hear that your product does not require Wi-Fi. I have some questions here.
1...If the smart phone needs to be tracked, will I need a second smart phone to track it?
2...And if so, does it have to be activated with a cellular connection?
3...Does the Bluetooth have to be on constantly, or only when I’m tracking something?

Our Mobile RFID system requires an internet connection (this can be either via WiFi or over cellular connection) to connect to the UC! Web platform. The Bluetooth connection is pairing the two devices -- the smartphone and the Zebra RFD8500 -- so that they can exchange data. If you would like to learn more feel free to reach out to us at www.a2btracking.com or call 800-733-7592.
      Thank you for your interest.

Does this work for products hidden under store shelves?

One of the great advantages of RFID is that the reader does not need a line of sight with the label. So yes -- a reader can read products hidden under store shelves, or alternatively, products that are stored up high on shelving, or items that are in a case.
Of course, there are limitations to this depending upon your environment. But, yes you can certainly read products that are out of eyesight from the operator.
