Combs Moss | Circular walk from Buxton | Peak District

Between Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith sits the topped hill of Combs Moss. Despite visiting various parts of this moorland in the past such as Castle Naze, I had never done the loop of the whole moss before. This walk did not disappoint! Following the edges I was greeted by some of the most tranquil walking I have ever come across in the Peak. Dwarfed by its more popular neighbours such as Kinder Scout, Combs Moss does not see the same kind of crowds. During my whole walk I only passed 2 people.
The scenery is stunning from start to finish and includes many interesting landmarks along the way. Gritstone edges, Trig Points (Black Edge), WWII craters and even an Iron Age Hill Fort. This walk is not to be missed. I was also lucky enough to do this walk while the heather was in full bloom. For a short time of the year the moors get carpeted in a sea of purple, I was very glad to capture it during this time.

**Correction - The information I give about the crater is slightly incorrect, this was actually made by a 'V1 rocket which was known for being inaccurate (hence missing Manchester airport by a fair distance) It was not dropped from a plane as I say in the video. Thank you to those that gave me the correct information having watched the video. **
