Morning mate.. Just catching up with some TH-cam as ive been out myself most of the week due to being off work for Easter. Awesome video as always getting some more trigs in 👏🏻👏🏻 lots of fog though on this one 😳 What an amazing walk your Dad has had during lockdown!! 👌🏻👌🏻 Glad the fog went too so I could see the stunning views it revealed 👌🏻 Always good when you find some hidden places and especially when you have places to yourself. I usually get most places to myself but that's cus I start the hike at like 0530 0600 ish lol.. looks like you might not have to do that there 😉 Im doing Shining Tor and Shutlingsloe soon get them two trigs in. My mate camped right at the trig of Shining Tor before looked like an awesome spot. Superb video Alex loved it 👌🏻Thanks!! ATB... Chris
Thank you very much Chris!! Sorry for the late reply, had a week off TH-cam and did some walks without the camera, I was getting a bit obsessed with looking at the camera and not the surroundings 😂 Yes the weather was crazy, I was very glad the sun appeared after a while though! I’m with you on the early starts, I was up at 6 AM for this one, much prefer the early start, especially with how busy the Peak District has been, can’t get a parking spot after 10 AM at the moment! Awesome!! I love Shining Tor, some great routes in that area. If you’re feeling like a beast you can get Combs Moss/Edge on the same route 😁 think I’m heading up Shining Tor with my old man this weekend actually! Wow bet that was a top place to camp! Thanks for the great comment and support as always Chris! I’m catching up on my videos after a week off, I’ll head over to your channel now and catch up on any I’ve missed 👍 cheers mate!! 👍👍😁😁
@@alexcripps.outdoors Hahaha no worries man I have plenty of walks where I dont take the camera purely for that reason. I go there to #stayawayfromthescreens so just pick a walk here n there where I film. Its definitely worth the effort mate my Old Man Of Coniston video last week with the MWIS Warnings I got up at at 0215 and left at 0230 to be there for 0550 🤣🤣🤣 Effort but worth every but of it. Ahh sound cheers pal ill have a look at those places and see how I can throw them into my walk 👍🏻👍🏻 Awesome mate hope you enjoy if there are any you have missed 😊 Take it easy dude
Good evening Alex, we are so happy for you getting back out onto home turf. Loved the veiws from Combes Edge wow, great upbeat feel to this one. Really captured the essence of the UK at the moment, that happiness and excitement to be visiting our favourite places 🏔❤👍 great footage of a beautiful place, wel vlogged too. Gratz on the subs too, making great progress! Keep the videos coming and bag those trigs ❤🤗 stay safe and well, Ceri and Kat ☕🌞
Thank you guys!! Yes it's been amazing being able to get back out in the Peaks, no better feeling! Everyone has been so happy and friendly on my walks, I think we're all just so grateful to be able to get back out into places like the Peaks! Thank you for the kind words, loved your most recent video, take care. 👍😁☕️
Great video! Will have to try out this walk soon, some good views. Love your challenge of all trig points as well, look forward to watching you complete it! 😊
Love the misty fog, gives a great atmosphere, but beautiful to see the views too! You are doing well 🚩😄 Not done this route before, thank you for sharing this hidden gem. It has been so windy 😅
Great video mate - really enjoyed the flow of it too. I dont know many of these areas of trigs so it's been good to see new areas! Thats an interesting point of the 88, we'll no doubt uncover areas we wouldn't normally have been. Hopefully we can link up soon!
Cheers mate!! Yeah exactly, we’re going to be heading to all sorts of new places whilst doing the 88, already found some gems! Thanks for the comment as always mate and yes very soon! 👍👍
I forgot to mention that @My Life Outdoors is donating £2 to his local children’s charity for every trig I bag! (what a legend) What an incredible thing to do and it has certainly given me even more motivation to get all 88 bagged this year. I am going to join him in donating £2 for every trig I bag, I will be donating it to Blythe House which is a local charity back home where I grew up, they gave my Mum a lot of support and help in her fight against cancer. Go checkout out @My life Outdoors channel, he has some superb outdoor content which I know you’ll all love! th-cam.com/channels/s6bkmvaFiztREUUirSKKBQ.htmlfeatured
Hey there just came over. from Tea in Valhalla's page to check out your channel. Just subbed to support a fellow TH-cam Vlogger and hiker out all the way from the east coast of the US. I love hiking on a foggy day. Great footage you captured with stunning views. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Great walk Alex! That circuit around Combs Moss is one of my favourite Peak District walks. Great views if you catch it on the right day, and never seems to be too many people up there! Can't beat a pint in the Beehive afterwards either!👍😊
Thank you Des. It is definitely one of my favourite Peak District walks also, like you say never too busy up there and the views are superb. Definitely a hidden gem of the Peak District! Oh yes, spent many winters in front of a fire in the beehive after a long walk 😁 They’re new outdoor sweating area is great! Thank you for the comment Des! Much appreciated 👍😁
Yes they’ve upgraded their outdoor seating area, I presume because of the restrictions with only being able to sit outside at the moment, all the more reason to stop for a pint!
great views and good to see no one is about, as I be in the peaks next week and although I promote people to be in the outdoors its also nice to have the moors to myself
Great video Alex. I’ve done a lot of walking in the Buxton area but never that area. The views looked fab and I’m sure I spotted a couple of little shooting cabins there. I’m thinking of going over Buxton way myself this weekend so may look that place up. Those views looked fab
Thank you Anthony! I highly recommend it if you’re heading up that way, like I said it’s a bit of a hidden gem! So many different routes to add onto it also, can had up to Shining Tor straight after if you’re feeling strong 😁 Cheers Anthony and hope you have a great walk this weekend 👍
Hi Alex, great to see you out in the glorious Peak District 👍. This has made my day as Combs Moss is on my list for my visit in June! What a stunning place. I only came across it in one of Andrew Linneys videos a few months ago, other than that I probably wouldn’t have thought about it as it isn’t mentioned in any of my route books. Oddly enough, Shining Tor is also on our June list.... mainly because we are staying in Hayfield this time and it’s an opportunity to explore more of the western part of the Peaks. Only 82 trig points to go, looking forward to a lot more great videos as you work your way through them 👍
Thank you Greg! Haha perfect timing for you then!! Yes for some very odd reason it seems to be not very well known, I think it is the lack of parking/a nice little Peak District town at the foot of the hill. I highly recommend it though, the views are spectacular on a clear day and if you’re feeling strong you can add Shining Tor on to the route 😁 Sounds like you have a fantastic trip planned! Thank you very much, hopefully getting up Kinder this weekend to bag a couple more 👍 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, means a lot! 👍😁
Hi Alex, yeah, the timing was brilliant and starting the day with breakfast and your video to watch was great too 👍. Yes, Shining Tor really has to be on the route, be rude not too as I haven’t bagged it yet! I am currently trying to convince myself that Wildboar Clough up near Crowden needs to be ticked off the list. Having seen Dean Reads and Backpacks and Bruises videos, it’s a pretty hard one, with those waterfalls to climb or circumnavigate.... It may be a case of if the weather has been dry for a while, then giving it a go. I suspect if there is little water flowing it’s probably a lot safer! Dean’s video does invoke a lot of respect for that route in wet weather! Glad to hear that you are going up on Kinder, I never tire of it, there are so many routes up and down to the plateau and the views are epic on clear days. One dry summer I’ll try going across the centre of it - just for fun....😁😬
Hi Greg, thank you so much for your donation to my fundraiser, it really means a lot! Really appreciate it! Hopefully I’ll stumble across you on Kinder one day to thank you properly 😁 Really does mean a lot 👍😁
Hi Alex. You are welcome 👍. There will be more to come - let us know about your trig point bagging and how that can support the cause. I am in the middle of buying a house and replacement car but things will become more normal soon and I will be pleased to help out when I can. It would be great to meet up sometime especially on Kinder. I am up in the Peaks for a week from 4th June. We're staying in Hayfield this time (we normally stay in Tideswell), great for Combs Moss and a variation on the Hayfield route onto Kinder. We're also planning on doing a repeat walk onto Kinder via Crowden Clough, but this time we are hoping that the water flow is low enough to enable us to climb the waterfall. I can't wait! Did a 11 mile walk yesterday to try and start building up to it. Definitely a way to go yet as the Sussex Countryside, lovely though it is, doesn't have quite the same elevation gain as the Peak District provides 😁 although my legs still ache quite a lot 🤣!
Really appreciate that Greg!! Sorry for the late reply, somehow missed the notification for your reply and just seen it now 👎 I should be free around that time, would love to get out for a walk with you! Sounds like some great walks you’ve got planned, and yes it’s a whole different ball game once you get into the Peaks 😂 really appreciate the support and kindness Greg, really means a lot!!
Amazing view! Enjoy your hike my friend
Thank you so much!
Beautiful nature, amazing views, a wonderful church and lambs and daffodils too 😊 Super video 👍
Thank you so much! Yes its a beautiful part of the UK!
