By the way, these theory deep dive videos that you do are my favourite! Just focusing in from your perspective on that one particular response / gambit is just great fun. When a lot of GMs and other youtubers do this, they just focus on lots of traps and lines very quickly without taking the time to think about it from the 'everymans' perspective... if that makes sense? The steady and analytical approach you are taking is very helpful and more relatable quite frankly and much more enjoyable to watch.

I think the gambit you were thinking of on the black side was the Benko gambit, which is also fun to play by the way, might be worth looking into that too!

Yes, correct, that's the one. I did look into it a while back. It's not easy to play.

I totally agree. I have dumped the Smith Morra completely now. Only about 25% of my games were going into nice trappy lines, the rest were working out with no real advantage. I think maybe sub 1400 its a good one to follow, but perhaps not over that

I liked your comment that you believe it's possible to get to 2000 even playing 'dumbass' openings. It's something I've often wondered about, but don't have the skill or the discipline to learn how to do analysis of games the way you do, so the fact that you've said it, gives me encouragement to continue playing the 'unsound' openings that I've been enjoying the last couple of months e.g the elephant gambit, the charlick, etc.
