    Loved this video (new subscriber). I am a beginner who can use all the help that’s out there. The CLOSER you can show how to do these things, the better.

      That’s what I just put if yr going to do a demo I want to be seeing the cuts of the wood not looking at him and all the different shots moving all the time

    This is amazing, thank you! Can you please add links to tools in the descriptions of your videos? I don't have any gouges yet, and I'm not sure which ones to get!

    Thanks, very nicely done. Appreciate your commentary. If I could make a recommendation, it would help if you made close ups of your cuts.

    Once again thoroughly enjoyed this video - the comming together of the previous 3 which were also excellent ( for me as a beginner ) , I have found that here in the UK Basswood is not so available , I purchased some Limewood from a specialist timber merchant but found it tough as nails to work for some reason , but have now latched onto using Jelutong , seems very similar to Basswood and it cuts so easily just as an fyi if anyone else is having sourcing problems.

    Wow, thank you. It’s fun seeing a different approach and it feels like I can make it work for me. The way I’m doing it is always a crap shoot as to how those eyes will come. Very good!

    Hi, I’m interested in gouges for faces, that I would need for 1x1” characters. Could you list those for me as I currently only have a 2mm U gouge from dockyard. Thanks so much!

    Don’t listen to your videographer how cool it will be to have this shot on u then half a close up on the wood then cut to another angle all the subscribers want to see is a fixed close shot of the wood and knife and the cuts u are making. Just one close downwards shot and u describing what u are doing. Looks a bit to much over production to me here overthink things. Sorry for the rants but just to much moving a for me and can’t even see what cuts yr doing, u have to think ppl are watching this who are new and here to learn and one camera pointing down close to the work is so so much better

  • @keycommander971
    @keycommander971 ปีที่แล้ว

    Be good if it was just a close up down view of the wood instead of all the different camera shots moving all the time it’s a bit annoying to be truthful. In the Army giving rifle lessons or field lessons we want the recruits to be looking at the rifle not at us they are learning nothing looking at my face they want to be watching the movement of hands and how the rifle works not how good looking I am.

  • @Limicola1

    Looks nice except it would be much easier to follow if the camera was focused more closely on the work. Closeups are few and far between.

      Thank you for the feedback! We are working on getting things set up to get closer shots without it being too shaky and hard to watch.

    this is a very good instructional video. It would be very helpful to limit frames to just from above your head and over the shoulder - these seem to be the most useful for showing the cuts and sequences. Switching the frames so often was a little bit distracting.

    As a beginning woodcarver, I just stumbled across your channel and must admit I'm amazed by the quality of your videos ! Excited to discover the rest of the channel !
    Just one constructive criticism: I feel the videos could be improved upon even further if the entire video was filmed from the close-up / side perspective, instead of alternating it with the top view...

    • @vankellywoodcarvings
      @vankellywoodcarvings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your feedback on the videos! We have the top view for when the close up doesn't capture what is happening. Since with carving I am having to move the wood around often. There are many times the top view gets much better view of the carving than the side/close up. But again, thank you for your feedback!

    This could’ve been so much more helpful if you could’ve zoomed in more. For those of us who struggle with faces, it’s all the fine details that show how to make it happen. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @vankellywoodcarvings
      @vankellywoodcarvings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, thank you for the feedback! This was one of the first videos I ever made and have learned a lot since. Some of my more recent videos have much better camera shots that show more detail.
