SO satisfying to see that broken bolt come out! I have a 97 Cooper too. It's only done 13,000 miles. It sat around like yours for several years, but luckily seems to have been in a dry garage. Before I bought it, it needed new rear brake cylinders and clutch slave to get it going again - I've put about 1500 miles on it this year - so far so good (fingers crossed). Thanks for filming - really useful.
Two things there was a leaf in the gutter of the bonnet and you put your hand in degreaser with no glove 😂 what's happening to the OCD? Top job as always I did not think that bolt was coming out.
I was wincing as you tried gunning that bolt out then thought it was gonna snap. I hope your tool supplier isnt watching you abuse that screwdriver lol
Is it worth using Coppaslip/anti-seize on the pump/thermostat housing bolts? I've had a few new thermostats fail to open at spec temp upon warm up so now I always test them in pot of boiling water prior to installing. Is it normal in the UK to use distilled water to make up anti-freeze mix? We do that here in Canada to avoid mineral scale build up in the coolant passages.
Yeah, pretty sure I used some high melting point grease. Most people just use tap water but distilled is obviously better. Not sure if there is more minerals in Canadian water? It's probably much more fresh than ours.
Sprout was meant to be a WINTER project, I know its been cold today but come on its definitely not winter, what was the smoke at the end just before the fan kicked in?
I think it was just steam from the outside of the radiator where I got it wet while flushing. It held pressure OK but need to recheck just in case it was leaking

Nice work glad that broken bolt got sorted, another job of the list 👍
Keith, Top job, Your a jammy bastard i would have put money on one of the thermostat bolts snapping lol, Cheers Dave
Yeah, I was quite surprised too
Great work Keith. Throwing stuff away? You're getting like me.😂
It’s only September get back in the house 😆
Great job but now everything else looks worse lol. I'm loving this project.
Keith, great content, great video as always, top job 👍👍
Keep it up Keith. The hair is coming back as well.
Great update Corn Beef and great result in getting that bolt out

Don't worry, to make an Omelette you have to break some eggs :)

LOL, I've voided my warranty with Snap On many times over. I broke one of my 7/16 sockets on the nut gun but it was only a cheap one.
Nice video, must have missed something,on my MK1 you have to take the radiator out to replace the pump.
Yes, much easier on an MPI, no bypass hose, no radiator and no alternator bracket to remove
I've had good results with those lock-on sockets (sealey and xion makes)on rounded nuts and bolts, failing that invest in some Irwins
Great job👍🏻, what sealant were you using for the water pump?

@@classicminiworkshop any follow up on this? Was also wondering what that steam was.
@@Roefh it was just water on the outside of the radiator. I did fit a new radiator later in the build anyway
@@classicminiworkshop Cool, thanks for your reply
