I know this is about Asians, but it's the only video comparing the two on issues other than politics involving Dem vs Rep. Orange County tends to have a NorCal culture, and even looks like NorCal. In case if you think it isn't emo in OC since it's San Diego's Canada (meaning SD is hell), it still exists up there, in SD it's all about family values and Internet slabs about how "everybody hates Nazis" and stuff just because they don't exist here. The bay area has anti-antifa so there is a vast minority of diversity up there anyway.

I've been hearing "HELLA" a lot more abundantly in SoCal these days. Kinda weird at first, but hey, West Coast all day. And yes, I dress like a Filipino DJ lol
Being hella old I remember when FIlipino DJs--and I worked with a ton of them--had the craziest mullets. They'd be part blond, with designs shaved in the side and probably some rat tails. And they'd have the name of their mobile DJ crew embossed on the side of their Supra. Same shitty $8 an hour job I had but they lived with their folks.
NorCal is way better! These descriptions were on point, and where I am in the bay, I hung out with a lot of Filipinos. Bay area will always have my heart
A Filipino kid back in highschool once said to the class that Filipinos are like the black people of Asians and anyone who was Filipino in the class agreed.
I've lived in both LA, and the Bay...even started a reggae/punk band up there. But I'd have to say this is almost on point! Though I do believe that the Chinese food in the Bay is much better than down here in LA. Either way....I love WholeCal!
Vietnamese coffee shop girls in Socal wear nothing but bikinis or bras. And the food in Little Siagon (Santa Ana area) is just as delicious as anything I tried in San Jose .

Born and Raised in Long Beach.. Moved to the Bay Area about 3 years ago.. From personal experience socal has more stuff to do there... BUT.. The Bay Area is like no other place. I've learned so much here.. Slang, Music, What we do.. it's so much different from any other part of Cali. The whole Bay Area is like it's own City and we are proud of ourselves and we represent fr fr. BAY AREA STAND UP 925!
Byung Cho haha Yelp me why I stay in San Diego and I don’t rep it I rep the big bad Modesto Cali there’s no taco trucks out here and all the Mexicans are white washed out here as well lol
yeah but it's not even close in terms of pure numbers - there even was a primetime TV show in Korea that was a big big sitcom that represents the 90s in Korea, and it was about Korean immigrans in.... LA LA has the biggest Korean community & the most number of Koreans in Western Hemisphere
This is actually pretty accurate for most Californians of all races. I'm Mexican(but I've lived here my whole life), and I live in SoCal, and I could relate to a lot of the SoCal stuff they said. Great video!
i can safely say that most of NorCal asian teens want to move to SoCal for college. everyone's so hyped to go to SoCal, no one wants to stay here unless they get into UC Berkeley.
*shivering in a coat* where’s the BART? LOL Bay Area born and raiiiiised right here 🙋🏻♀️ having lived in SoCal for a few years, this video is pretty damn accurate 😂

Rei Joon Y best Asian food as well: japanese, chinese, korean, even Iittle saigon's vietnamese food in SoCal is better than in san jose's vietnamese community.
I grew up in SoCal, but I moved to NorCal (Bay Area) in 1996 and never went back. NorCal is way better. The people are more chill, minds are open, differences are accepted. SoCal is far too self-centered (and fake) to know what's going on in the world. We also have cleaner air and water with far more natural preservation areas. As for hella, the older I get, the less I hear it. It's more of a term among the youth.
Noemi really in the north you fly to vages but in the South we drive there People from all over the world come to Socal for I live near between Hollywood to Disneyland and Coachella what dose the North have face it Sourthern california rocks as shit
The people are more chill?? Open-minded? Please. All you have to do is say to a NorCal person that you are from SoCal and they will start getting down on you for "stealing their water". Lived in NorCal for 3 years and would never live there. NorCal people are obsessed with putting down LA. LA people never think about NorCal unless they're going up there to visit.
im mexican-salvadorian and hes filipino-japanese and some of his friends jokingly say "you're still with her?" bc they didnt expect him to last long with a latina hahaha
Andrea Reyes I'm Fijian, Kiribati Islander, Indian, Nepali, Mongolian and Afghani (yes, I'm really that mixed) dating a full blooded Filipina. She can't even pin down what race she's dating in this interracial relationship, haha. I would love to see them do a multi-racial interracial video! It would be hectic but with lots of room for hilarious bits.
I'm born and raised in Norcal, and the description is kinda accurate, but not all the way. Yes we have a lot of r and b/hip hop music, but we have a some rock/punk too. After all, Green Day is from Norcal and maybe 20 mins from where I live. And the filipino culture is EVERYWHERE. So it's kinda accurate but a little left out :)
Cam Lucas They did the same for SoCal. Didn't mention SoCals Aerospace industry which is still very big and in some ways more profitable than Hollywood. More asians work in aerospace than in Hollywood too.
I agree with the retro, alternative base music scene for NorCal...I am from SoCal, but West Coast gangster rap was invented in SoCal. Hiphop all over Cali is equal...NorCal is home of raves. Still open ended of a comparison to me. I have Asian family from both parts of Cali...and no different from Polynesians...LMPAO...okay maybe a little...lol
I live in NorCal and found this video hard to accept just because I could disagree with more than one thing you guys mentioned. I seriously have no idea what a "hip hop asian" is.. lmao. I love you guys' videos and all but I was just like what the?! We do take pride in the once was, hyphy movement, (or at least I still do) LOL, but EDM has grown significantly as well in the bay area. Sure, SoCal gets spoiled with the best DJs and events, but NorCal has it's fair share too. For the food portion in the video, I just feel NorCal and SoCal's food are equally as good. SoCal definitely does have more restaurants to try from but all in all, California is just blessed with good food in general. Another thing is that I know FOR SURE that the word "hella" has definitely traveled down to SoCal. It's not just people from the bay who moved down to SoCal for school or whatever, but the people do use it! Being as a born and raised girl in NorCal and a frequent visitor to SoCal, I love both sides of the state!
San Francisco areas have the best views and the cleanest air in the world. Try to beat views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline, the San Francisco Fog coming in and out of the Golden Gate Bridge and over the hills combined with the tides coming in and out every 6 hours. Nobody can beat that. If you want hot weather, head inland. If you want cool weather, head to the ocean.
The bay area does not have the cleanest air in the world. Are you not watching ABC 7 news in the morning? We have smog days. They encourage riding bikes, taking bart and carpooling on those days. And you cant use your fireplace or you will get fined.
I can't disagree. Grew up in so-cal went to nor-cal for college and lived there for 10 years. I agree. My nor-cal friends thought i just dress the way i do bc of just me until they came down and visited and was like wow...it's like seeing her in her natural duck pond habitat. 🤣
Ben Pon I live in Central California, but a lot of Asians in my city are still in the "bubble". It could be though that many Asians in our city are fairly recent immigrants - most came here with their families in the the 1990s. Quite a few are still quite traditional and have parents who can't speak any English. But we also had Armenians come around the same time, and they're kind of the same. But my city is also quite agricultural as well as urban, so I suppose we could be an exception.
Great suggestion. I was thinking about this a lot over the weekend - Asians from the west coast are a LOT different from Asians from the North East. I think it is bigger gap than whites from the west vs. whites from the NE.
I used to think all of Californians were the same.. I grew up in SoCal San Diego area.. I moved to Sacramento and the people are so different than what I'm used to.. alot of the ones i met would look down on me for being from SoCal..
Im from San Diego and have been working in Sacramento in the last 4 years. I work in construction. I found that the people/clients are more down to earth than Socal.. on the other hand i found it harder to connect with guys i worked with. I appreciate both places Both have good people.. more aholes in Sac..
Oh ive seen Berkeley alright, littered with trash and god knows how many homeless people. Not to say that doesnt exist in SoCal but it seems like people from NorCal like to pride themselves on that.
One thing they missed when talking about EDM parties is that while SoCal is about the Massives (they said that) with huge club-like parties... NorCal is about the undergrounds. We are huge on EDM up here in NorCal as well, but we're more about the underground secret raves held illegally in abandoned warehouses. The type of party that is invite only and if you don't know someone, you can't find it. Then if you do know someone, they tell you a phone number to call, which tells you to go to a location where a guy in a hoodie hands you a map, and you follow that map to a parking lot. At that parking lot you leave your car and a nondescript white van swings around and picks you up to drop you off at a warehouse that you already figured was the venue because you've been there for the last 2 or 3 underground parties. It's way more chill and intimate without any of the crazy club atmosphere. As they said, NorCal is way more chill.
:D I was going to say something about the EDM. Ahaha. From your description, I think I can make a tldr. Basically, everything is chill on the surface, but the infrastructure is batshit crazy and complex. Speaking of, what artists/songs do you recommend? I've been looking for some new stuff recently.
Alvin Yu That really depends on the type of music you're into? Do you like Dubstep? That's a form of UK Garage but it's very different from other styles of UK Garage like 2Step or Bassline. You have House music and so many styles of that as well. Electro House, Disco House, Progressive, Latin House, Deep House. You have Trance and even that has many variations. Psy-Trance, Electro-Trance, Hard Trance. Then there is Jumpstyle music like HardHouse and NRG. There is Drum and Bass and Jungle as well. The list goes on. Try checking out Beatport.com to find hot new songs in various genres that you can buy. If you want to download some free music, you can get awesome remixes and original songs from LivingElectro.com where they post up really great House, Electro and Trance music. You can help rate the songs or see what others rate them and download all the songs for free in full 320kbps quality. You can preview songs easily by streaming them directly on the page. I used to DJ in the San Francisco Bay Area at small undergrounds under the name DJ Sublunary and got quite a few songs from LE back in the day, which I used to spin. I used to also have a tumblr page where DJ Arantele (formerly DJ Kid Wicked) and I used to post up songs that we liked in various genres. We haven't updated the site in YEARS, but if you'd like to see some great songs from a few years ago, you can check out the page at tastybeats.tumblr.com and hit the white arrow at the bottom of the page to see more songs. Hope that helps. =)
Very fun video! I'm a Korean-American who grew up in NorCal (totally true about there not being a lot of Koreans in NorCal) but I've been living in SoCal for the last 10 years. I've never heard anyone point the differences between the two in a such a hilarious, exaggerated, stereotypical, but yet kind-of-true way. Keep doing more videos like this!
SoCal for the food and edm. NorCal for the fashion and tech industry. Any asians on here from NOTCal? As in not from California? Houston, Texas here =)
Collin Holbrook What?! Texas is probably the 2nd or 3rd most asian-populated state lol! (Mostly in Houston and Dallas) There's definitely a rich asian american culture here. I'm 20 and have lived from the northeast side of Houston and now the southwest! Also born and raised here! =)
We don't use definite articles to describe transit. No Bay Area native would ever refer to BART as "the BART". The same applies to freeways. A resident of the Bay Area enjoys coastal drives along "101" or takes "80 east" to Sacramento.
....bruh what are you talking about? Everybody calls BART, BART...what else would we call it? There are actual trains you can take so no one calls it that, and for sure don't call it the subway. What part of the Bay are you from?
I live in DT Oakland and ride BART daily as my primary mode of transportation. I was referring to the definite "the" article. We say BART, not "the BART"!
My dude I'm born and raised in LA, been living in the Bay for 5 years now. Literally everybody in california, i guess EXCEPT people from past sac considers the bay area/SF to be the definition of norcal. The funny thing is only people from north of Sacramento would consider everything else central/south. I mean people don't even know there's more to california than past sac. You guys might as well be considered South Oregon LOL.
Vietnamese coffee shop girls in Socal wear nothing but bikinis or bras. And the food in Little Siagon (Santa Ana area) is just as delicious as anything I tried in San Jose .
I was born and raised in California (1958), and I have never heard of a native calling it 'Cali'...ever! It's just not said, it's utterly ridiculous and unheard of. Either you are not from California, a recent transplant, or something else. Just being honest.
Didn't know that there was a diff btwn Cali Asians. I'd have to pick eastcoast Asians. I don't think we can even distinguish the differences between NY, Philly, Boston, DC Asians.
The reason you see major differences in between Asian populations on the West coast and not so much on the East coast is because of immigration patterns. The west coast is closer to the "homelands" and therefore the culture is very much transposed. As you move eastward, and the generations of Asian Americans gets older, you will see that they start blending together. The same can be said about white Americans, except on the opposite coast. On the East Coast, you see major divisions between Irish, Italian, and other European communities, but as you move towards the West coast, those ethnic identities get blended.
^ HAHA..FUNNY!!!! I'm sure all Californians can disagree with that. You brought the rivals NorCal and SoCal together with that statement. We'll all laugh at what you said together. Thank you for this bonding moment.
I never knew that there was a rivalry between NorCal vs. SoCal until I went to college in SoCal. A bunch of NorCal students at my college just began bashing SoCal. So much ego.
Mandy Mitchell That is so true. My roommates were like, NorCal is way better than SoCal. And I always said, but you're in SoCal, so..... My roommate even made it a point to say "hella" obnoxiously every time I was around. I don't mind "hella" and I never really knew there was a rivalry until I went to college.
rainyang08 They always keep saying that NorCal is better SoCal. Better because of what? Just because it's better for them doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be better for us. I refuse to give up the SGV, Disneyland, Little Tokyo, and a 4-hour road trip to Vegas.
Same here. I love SoCal and the diversity and different cultures that we are immersed in. Unfortunately I no longer live in California but I would give anything to move back. I miss the food!
I'm from modesto and ima be honest, there's like barely any asians here. There are a quite a bit of indians, but we're lacking in east and southeast asians, from what i've seen. I could just be in the wrong area though, who knows
You guys? You mean San Diego Asians? Fail at copying L.A. culture? They have their own, I doubt it. Next to Mexico? Is that even an argument? Stay in school kid.
sayjai bao damn... that hurts man. You probably haven't seen much of the city yet. We're laid back compared to LA but that doesn't mean it's boring here
Having grown up in both SF and LA, a lot of this is so relatable!! I hella miss saying hella tho, I had to stop when I moved to LA to avoid ridicule. The waiting for the bart part made me laugh, so relateable in the east bay haha! Hated how it only came once every 20 minutes..but here in LA we're stuck on the 405 or 10 so I guess it's all the same
Damn some people here have a serious chip on their shoulder. I mean it's all fun to joke around but some of you guys are taking this "NorCal vs Socal" thing way to seriously in the comments, it's embarrassing. Seriously, no one gives a shit.
I'm a SoCal Filipino and my GF is a NorCal Japanese girl and everything you guys said is so true, haha. I work for a media and publishing company and I'm into EDM, and my gf is super laid-back and into hip-hop/rnb. So everything you guys said it LITERALLY true about my gf and I hahaha
I live in SoCal and it sucks. Never do I ever see rain, a living tree, or living flowers. I have been to Tahoe once and I fell in love. There are trees everywhere!!
babyk depends what part of SoCal. I was born and raised here, have lived here pretty much my entire life, and even in major cities if you go far enough inland there’s mountains, trees, nature, etc.
I'm from philly and went to college in nyc, i think i'm suppose to live in socal.... because everyone in college thought i was from cali.. LOL cali people thought i was from cali xD
as a northern california native, i gotta add something about the differences in music: so, northern california is really into hip hop, for sure. i've also noticed that the heavy metal scene is much, MUCH bigger in southern california. in northern california, you'll find a lot of rock music, but none of it's really the mainstream music. the alternative/punk/metalcore (even grunge) scene is bigger in northern california, although unfortunately with rent increasing way too much, it's going down, but that's how it usually is.
I prefer NorCal. Not saying that because I was born AND raised in NorCal. I'd go to SoCal for the food and to film for entertainment purposes. NorCal for the fashion and technology. Us NorCal Asian girls are wayy more laid back than SoCal Asian girls. Just saying. Also, Could you do a video comparing West Coast Asians & East Coast Asians? cx
Fung Bro's, ABC trying to cancel the show selfie, starring Jon Cho in a romantic comedy. An asian broth is finally a lead male cast in this romantic series. I was wondering if you can do a quick blog letting people sign this petition to keep the show. www.change.org/p/abc-save-selfie-3
Shao hua Guta The only one that sounds racist here is you. I'm white and I'm watching this as it looked entertaining/interesting and I also like aspects of asian culture. Here's a tip, don't generalise an entire race. Being asian, you should know better.
As a Vallejo-raised Filipino who now lives about an hour drive east of LA, I can validate this video. But I for sure cannot adapt to the slide-and-pound. The concept still confounds me.
Asians that grew up in somewhat hood-ish conditions are easygoing, the rest are too damn snooty and closed off...so this NorCal/SoCal thing doesn't exist.
Yeah some are cool but most don’t like those that are snobby about going to an elite school a la Harvard, Columbia, Penn, Stanford, and even UCLA and Berkeley (although those aren’t as elite and not as pretentious but still classy) and never worked a close to min wage job, grew up in a rich place where the worst crime is a DUI or rare fight, have a snobby way of speaking. Ick...
I've never been to California but based on the video, I think I'd rather live in norcal if I had to move there for some reason lol but damn I'd be going to socal a lot! lol Also, the two girls in the video are beautiful! I wanna see you girls on tv!
Catthy Nguyen Um, NorCal is really cold especially for a SoCal person. I had to wear a jacket in San Jose in the middle of August because it was freezing!
Bethany Francia If you lived in NorCal your whole life, of course, you would prefer your home turf without any comparison. I've been to NorCal, Central Cal, and SoCal and I'm happiest in SoCal.
why am I watching this I'm not even Asian

Yes so true! I remember in first grade someone said never to say "hella" because it was a bad word. One day, someone said it and he had to change his card to red.
So true. My mom would look at me crazy if I said hella in front of her
So legit.. 510 :)
Holy crap I thought I was the only one that was told hella was a bad word when I was younger. Hella kids said hecka too. Crazy shit, 510 rep.
Hella, has to be the corniest slang ever invented.

Yup, no one cares about much. Just look at how they treat fashion.(SoCal=Caring a lot, NorCal=Majority just don't care)

Welcome LOL
I've been hearing "HELLA" a lot more abundantly in SoCal these days. Kinda weird at first, but hey, West Coast all day. And yes, I dress like a Filipino DJ lol
When I graduated from High School, a lot of my friends went to SoCal for college.
+LB bay area knows to Turn the fuck up.
I was born in Socal, so socal is better
A Filipino kid back in highschool once said to the class that Filipinos are like the black people of Asians and anyone who was Filipino in the class agreed.
I live in Northridge and 90% of the people I work with are Filipino.
LB hell no when you think of cali you think LA were know more than alt city in Cali los Ángeles baby
And the food in Little Siagon (Santa Ana area) is just as delicious as anything I tried in San Jose
.
Best ramen I ever had was Daikokuya in Little Tokyo LA… the place won Yelp’s “best Socal restaurant” several years. They were so successful people waited hours to get it, so they opened additional restaurants in Pasadena and San Gabriel valley. Still my goto place for Japanese food
.
NinetyMusic so you from the beach and you rep 925? Im from the bay and moved to so cal like 10 years ago but you’ll never catch me repping LA ever.
Byung Cho haha Yelp me why I stay in San Diego and I don’t rep it I rep the big bad Modesto Cali there’s no taco trucks out here and all the Mexicans are white washed out here as well lol
I do agree there is way more Koreans in SoCal but there is a good amount of Koreans in the Bay like the SJ and Pleasanton area.
yeah but it's not even close in terms of pure numbers - there even was a primetime TV show in Korea that was a big big sitcom that represents the 90s in Korea, and it was about Korean immigrans in.... LA
LA has the biggest Korean community & the most number of Koreans in Western Hemisphere
This is actually pretty accurate for most Californians of all races. I'm Mexican(but I've lived here my whole life), and I live in SoCal, and I could relate to a lot of the SoCal stuff they said. Great video!
Pacific Northwest is hip hop as well.
i can safely say that most of NorCal asian teens want to move to SoCal for college. everyone's so hyped to go to SoCal, no one wants to stay here unless they get into UC Berkeley.
Mugiwara98 completely depends on what they want to study. ucla and cal have different strengths.
Mugiwara98 UC Santa Cruz is a jewel. Great place for cultivating students and citizens of the world.
Stanford?
Mugiwara98 Uh think not. You forgot Stanford and UC Berkeley.
Mugiwara98 that's hilarious, went to HS in Orange county and half my class went to USF or SLO
Hella has spread to SoCal, unfortunately.
Paul A So true!!!
Paul A true
it never "spread" from anywhere. it's sortof common everywhere.
Even London (not used frequently but still used)
Paul A. M. Yeah I always thought it was a SoCal thing. I was surprised to find out it’s “NorCal”
*shivering in a coat* where’s the BART? LOL Bay Area born and raiiiiised right here 🙋🏻♀️ having lived in SoCal for a few years, this video is pretty damn accurate 😂
That scene made me laugh
This is more Bay Area vs. LA, and not so much NorCal vs. SoCal
Let's be honest, the most important part of this entire video was the food explanation. Thanks for clarifying!
Vienne Cheung I'm damn hungry for some SoCal grub. Real talk, that would be the only reason why I'd visit California.
Vienne Cheung The most important thing is watching the part at 1:50 in normal speed and then at x2 speed
Vietnamese coffee shop girls in Socal wear nothing but bikinis or bras.
Still my goto place for Japanese food
.
SoCal has the best food in general. Mexican, middle eastern, even random European food
Rei Joon Y best Asian food as well: japanese, chinese, korean, even Iittle saigon's vietnamese food in SoCal is better than in san jose's vietnamese community.
YALL WE GOT DISNEYLAND
We in nor cal we have the valley with all of the hard working Mexicans so I believe that we have more authentic Mexican food.
SoCal has better Palestinian food but NorCal has better Yemeni food.
Incorrect mexican food in norcal is better
LOL, if you knew the asian gang history in the bay you'd know why asian guys shake that way.
Lol tell us...black influence??
@@thebaddest3452 so meannnnn
Granny Grans how’s that mean? ....
Bri i thought it was funny so I just said mean sigh.....
@@thebaddest3452 It could be. shit, most of us get along fine up here lmao
Ahaha see what I mean?
NoCal we got Silicon Valley
Noemi damn you must be old. Cos hella is heard everywhere
Please make a video about Asians being in interracial relationships. I'm in one with my bf who's filipino and we always get weird ass questions lmao
im mexican-salvadorian and hes filipino-japanese and some of his friends jokingly say "you're still with her?" bc they didnt expect him to last long with a latina hahaha
They made black girls and asian guys video, they need to make asian guys and latinas video.
sayjai bao yass
Andrea Reyes I'm Fijian, Kiribati Islander, Indian, Nepali, Mongolian and Afghani (yes, I'm really that mixed) dating a full blooded Filipina. She can't even pin down what race she's dating in this interracial relationship, haha. I would love to see them do a multi-racial interracial video! It would be hectic but with lots of room for hilarious bits.
Zeid Khan thats like a weird but fucking awesome combo man '-')/
I'm born and raised in Norcal, and the description is kinda accurate, but not all the way.
+I like hugs :3 you live in san Francisco?
David Wen like 30 mins away. In Hercules (near Pinole and Rodeo)
I like hugs :3 unfortunately, I am moving back to east coast, I wish I could stay in San Francisco!
NorCal has much better, more refined Thai food than SoCal. While SoCal Thai may have more options, NorCal takes it for Thai.
dynamatlancer Agreed!
Yup
Just because there are more Thai people in the Los Angeles area doesn't necessarily mean that it has better Thai restaurants than the Bay Area.
I agree also during the 90's and early 2000's SF was the Mecca of EDM especially the underground scene. Good times.
***** whats that supposed to mean? and thanks? lol
yes, i am filipino
Jarleen Vjo isn't that being a pacific islander and not necessarily asian?
***** Asians dont have a particular look, dumbass. Asia is big as hell. There are all kinds of looks in Asia
Plus you guys have Oakland which makes you guys anything but good
Um LA county and San Bernardino have way more crime than Oakland.
alicia elam and L.A has Compton
SanFranciscoBay Never been to Ely, Nevada have you. At least you can see the stars at night.
North Face and the ratchet dancing are so truee literally every Bay Area high school (well at least where I grew up lol)
I can't disagree. Grew up in so-cal went to nor-cal for college and lived there for 10 years. I agree. My nor-cal friends thought i just dress the way i do bc of just me until they came down and visited and was like wow...it's like seeing her in her natural duck pond habitat. 🤣
Norcal Asians have more swag and less likely to be trapped in an Asian bubble.
Job fair ucsd Jacobs
facts
Thats because LA dispite being huge. Its very segregated. The bay is way more blended.
I agree but living in NorCal as an Asian there is definitely more of an Asian bubble here than in SoCal
you guys should do a general comparison of Asians from Cali, NY and TX (3 places with the highest population of Asian Americans)
Haha yeah
Great suggestion. I was thinking about this a lot over the weekend - Asians from the west coast are a LOT different from Asians from the North East. I think it is bigger gap than whites from the west vs. whites from the NE.
Truee haha
AGREED! Fung Bros call out your asians friends from the south and northeast and make a video! =)
Agree with everything!
i'm from norcal so obiously i like it more. LA just feels more fake, cliquey, and materialistic.
+Steven Davis but if you come here down to sd boiiii its bick
+Steven Davis
Seriously, I see no different of the 2. Guess you kind of tuned out with your own people. :-)
narrow-minded
SF and LA are twin siblings: one who's counter-culture and the other who's a popular valley girl
LA is actually mainstream, counter-culture and valley-girl combined.
Why am I watching this...
I'm from Texas 😂
South Texas or North Texas?😎
South Texas , but Go Cowboys!!
I'm from the continent of Afroeurasia. Why am I watching this, don't ask me north, south, east or west. It's a long way.
Hmmm but your name suggests you are not originally from there??
Where are your parents from?? Just curious...
Same
Definitely NORCAL MANNNN 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
norcal more like NoCal
And of course the Hmong, Lao, Mien and Cambodians of the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys don't exist.
Jeff Morse apparently so. the map they kept showing needed everything blacked out except for socal and the bay.
Jeff Morse are you from california? those aren't part of norcal and socal
juffurey Are YOU from California? Sacramento valley and the San Joaquin Valley are part of California. Where do you think the state capital is?
Genesis Barrow how long did it take you to google that? don't pretend to understand california culture.
juffurey No time. I'm a NorCal girl.
NorCal chick reallllly looks like ItsJudyTime at certain angles.....
OMG YES! And that scarf tho
Glad I was not the only one. LOL
ChubbyChubbyMai eww wtf hell no
ChubbyChubbyMai
What about fornication positions between north and south people? Doggy or missionary?
Peter Stone Doggy would probably take it out.
We have Berkeley.
Norcal auto wins.
gg wp
THANK YOU
Oh ive seen Berkeley alright, littered with trash and god knows how many homeless people. Not to say that doesnt exist in SoCal but it seems like people from NorCal like to pride themselves on that.
ok nerd. whats so special about berkley? berkley wouldn't even be in the top 5 list of things to be proud about in norcal
but if Berkeley was in SoCal, it would top your list at number 1
Berzerkly?
I'd go with NorCal.
NORCAL FOR THE GEEKS AND NERDS WOOHOOOO AND I LOVE HIPHOP AND R&B
Lol
And those steep hills in sf !
Something I noticed in Socal is that a lot of the people kinda seem "fake"
Andrew Maxwell. It's the home of Hollywood of course it's fake.
I currently live in LA, but I was born and raised in the bay so I’m biased! Sooo accurate ❤️ bay all the way!
Eda Semana nice I’m from Modesto but live in San Diego
And norcal has way better weed
Thats the source...Better and un-taxed... Thank the Emerald Triangle
REPPIN THE BAY!! NORCAL REPRESENT!!!
SOULCHILD was that you attempting to do the thizz face and shake your hair !? 😂😂😂 learn how to do it first on mommaz
SOULCHILD bruh I'm dead that shaking booty take it to the south. Us people in the bay dance way better. We fucken yike
Isau Navarro attempting? Lol in the bay we go cray
SOULCHILD yea I know I was born and raised in the yay!
damn how do you guys afford rent it's high as hell ?!?!
Zeid Khan our Massives and our Underground scene in SoCal destroys your undergeound scene.
This would be better titled "Los Angeles vs anything Bakersfield and above."

Facts
Bay Area got a bigger population in than LA wouldn’t make sense
Very fun video! I'm a Korean-American who grew up in NorCal (totally true about there not being a lot of Koreans in NorCal) but I've been living in SoCal for the last 10 years. I've never heard anyone point the differences between the two in a such a hilarious, exaggerated, stereotypical, but yet kind-of-true way. Keep doing more videos like this!
SoCal for the food and edm. NorCal for the fashion and tech industry.
Any asians on here from NOTCal? As in not from California? Houston, Texas here =)
I seriously never see asians in Texas lol its a rare thing for me xD this coming from someone who has been to every major city in Texas
New York Asian ;)
Tennessee Asian here (yeehaw)!
I was raised mostly in the southwest side of h-town tho I was born in Syracuse, NY
Yay Area!!!
I love how we can say Bay Area with some hip hop soul into it =)
Sandy Chow Bay Area Hardcore, especially the Dead Kennedys, is best.
Yeeeeeee
Okay I get it. I'm off the margin: I'm Japanese and I want mofongo and chicharrones.
I am Japanese American too. Are you from so cal?
No I’m from Colorado.
'Where's the Bart?'😂😂 this is so true
They were mocking the people from out of town saying that
All I wanna do is move to California
rent will drown you in debt :/
BLACKGOOBER Lmao my rent is cheap. I guess my ass got hella lucky.
Same I hate my state
I live in Northern California and the housing prices are up the roof our house price has gone from 500k to 700k in just 7 years
Emiliano Ramirez yolo bih🤪😋
" bay area born n raised" vs " proud la girl " LMAOOOO norcal all the way
no one cares
Dude what LOL. Nobody even knows where redding is, the bay area = norcal.
You guys might as well be considered South Oregon LOL.
mark navarro central cal is in NorCal, it’s a subregion of NorCal
"We are not saying one is better then the other"
You don't have to, NorCal wins again.
Vietnamese coffee shop girls in Socal wear nothing but bikinis or bras. And the food in Little Siagon (Santa Ana area) is just as delicious as anything I tried in San Jose
.
I love all my Cali grown Asians. Cali wouldn't be the same without ya, north or south.
Saying 'Cali' mean you are 100% a wannabe transplant - NOT from California at all. So uncool and fake.
Bro u a boof shut that ass up
LOL!!!
I was born and currently live in Silicon Valley and a lot of us refer California as Cali
I was born and raised in California (1958), and I have never heard of a native calling it 'Cali'...ever! It's just not said, it's utterly ridiculous and unheard of. Either you are not from California, a recent transplant, or something else. Just being honest.
Nor callll,sac town!🤘🏾
Please do Asians in Hawaii vs Asians in Cali
even more hapas
asians in hawaii?
Everyone in Hawaii is Asian
“because socal is always warmer than norcal” bruh tf. the valley??? have you ever been to redding, chico, even sacramento?
I been to all of them and I’m from la
Didn't know that there was a diff btwn Cali Asians. I'd have to pick eastcoast Asians. I don't think we can even distinguish the differences between NY, Philly, Boston, DC Asians.
Agreed. Philly here!
Agreed. I'm from East Coast and I have friends from different parts of the East Coast; there aren't many traditions or lifestyles that are different.
Agree, in the DMV (DC, MD, VA), it feels like we infuse everything both Norcal and Socal have into our culture
#eastcoast
The reason you see major differences in between Asian populations on the West coast and not so much on the East coast is because of immigration patterns. The west coast is closer to the "homelands" and therefore the culture is very much transposed. As you move eastward, and the generations of Asian Americans gets older, you will see that they start blending together. The same can be said about white Americans, except on the opposite coast. On the East Coast, you see major divisions between Irish, Italian, and other European communities, but as you move towards the West coast, those ethnic identities get blended.
Very interesting observation. But SoCal is the best Cal.
Alexis M haha funny....
I agree
+Alexis M As an outsider who lived in Socal for 4.5 years, Norcal is better.
+Mike Speakman Hm. Travel a little further north to Oregon. 100 times better than anywhere in Cal.
^ HAHA..FUNNY!!!!
I'm sure all Californians can disagree with that. You brought the rivals NorCal and SoCal together with that statement. We'll all laugh at what you said together. Thank you for this bonding moment.
I'm a SoCal. Never knew that there even was a NorCal and SoCal. I love CA either way.
norcal ppl like to bitch about socal....but in general cali pride is greater than what artificial, manufactured divisions we have that unites us
I never knew that there was a rivalry between NorCal vs.
Tbh THE BAY AND L.A together is literally an unstoppable Duo.
They never talk about the British Asians ;-;
do you happen to be a british asian? If so cool, I have personally made friends with tons of brits but surprisingly none asian
XD lololol naaaa British Asians are cool bro u just haven't meet one or ur just bias about ur country which is the u.s
And yeah I'm british asian
well yeah, cause this video is about asians in California.
Sammi Chan cool, glad to know that there is actually some over there :D I mean I knew you meet Indians and Middle Eastern people in UK
Haha! "Where's the Bart?"
I’m Berkeley Born n’ raised and I’ve always referred to it as, “the BART”... I also know a ton of folks that do too.
NorCal of course! We hella bay!
I live in Chicago, moved here from LA, miss that weather. SoCal all day papa.
Yall trippin how yall forget about Sactown, Stockton, Modesto, and Chico smh Norcal isnt jus the bay 😑
I'm from modesto and ima be honest, there's like barely any asians here. There are a quite a bit of indians, but we're lacking in east and southeast asians, from what i've seen. I could just be in the wrong area though, who knows
To me there's Urban NorCal and rural NorCal, SF to Sac is Urban and Redding is rural
I am a NYC dude but i can see myself chilling with more NorCal than SoCal
Yeah I was listening to this ny poet and she said when ny people come to bay it feels like home
EB I need to visit
I always run into New Yorkers up here. Cool peoples...
S Klass cos both yall like to live in small apartments
A lot of people say SF is like New York City just hella smaller!
You guys should do a video for the differences between Socal's San Diego Asians and Los Angeles Asians! CAUSE WE DIFFERENT!
hmm well you guys copy l.a. culture and fail also next to mexico so argument invalid
You guys? You mean San Diego Asians? Fail at copying L.A. culture? They have their own, I doubt it. Next to Mexico? Is that even an argument? Stay in school kid.
I agree with ya. San Diego is a whole other world compared to LA. We're more military/healthcare oriented
Diego is boring, no point in making comparisons
sayjai bao damn... that hurts man.
Right? Lol
+Liz We are the Golden State, after all. :3
Bay Area folks are into EDM as well, just a little more Bay Area hip-hop like E-40 and stuff.
All my Asian girlfriends are NorCal Asians types they will shake it to any beat 😂😂😂
Back in the east coast we have NYC Puerto Rican vs Miami Cubans
I'm a SoCal Filipino and my GF is a NorCal Japanese girl and everything you guys said is so true, haha. I work for a media and publishing company and I'm into EDM, and my gf is super laid-back and into hip-hop/rnb. So everything you guys said it LITERALLY true about my gf and I hahaha
I live in SoCal and it sucks. Never do I ever see rain, a living tree, or living flowers.
I have been to Tahoe once and I fell in love. There are trees everywhere!!
What I love about NorCal are the trees. Everything seems brown and dead in SoCal.
babyk SoCal is more of an urban and city centric area whereas NorCal is very rural and suburban.
babyk hater
babyk depends what part of SoCal. I was born and raised here, have lived here pretty much my entire life, and even in major cities if you go far enough inland there’s mountains, trees, nature, etc.
Rei Joon Y She probably lives in the High Desert area of SoCal. Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead/Wrightwood area has mountains and pine trees. Lol
hell yeah Nor Cal on point I'm dying
The NorCal girl reminds me so much of my girl cousins in Sac just based of the scarf and the valley girl accent 😧 wow
HER HAIR IS SO PRETTYY!!!!!
Damn, I am from South Cali, but I think I belong to North Cal.
before you switch over to our side, just know we call it norcal.
Okay David, Thank you!
I'm from philly and went to college in nyc, i think i'm suppose to live in socal.... because everyone in college thought i was from cali.. LOL cali people thought i was from cali xD
NORCAL FOR DAYYYYYYYYSSSS
Yasssssssss NorCal represent
as a northern california native, i gotta add something about the differences in music:
so, northern california is really into hip hop, for sure. i've also noticed that the heavy metal scene is much, MUCH bigger in southern california.
in northern california, you'll find a lot of rock music, but none of it's really the mainstream music. the alternative/punk/metalcore (even grunge) scene is bigger in northern california, although unfortunately with rent increasing way too much, it's going down, but that's how it usually is.
Also, Could you do a video comparing West Coast Asians & East Coast Asians? cx
all the fashion trend arise from SoCal though 。east bay asian are more hood
Fashion is a major industry in SoCal which explains why we have a fashion district in LA. The video doesn't do justice on SoCal fashion.
Considering a-lot of layered Norcal fashion is completely influenced from NEW YORK. >_> Socal wins the fashion game byfar. EZPZ
Take it from me, an East Coast asian: EAST COAST ASIANS SUCK!
I'd easily take NorCal over SoCal
I live in NorCal and WE HAVE REALLY GOOD RAMEN!!!
“The” Bart
Smh she’s for sure from Tracy
Behri I’m crying! LOL
LMAO
Vacaville*
i'm still waiting for the video “do asian men like latin woman?”
i'm waiting for "do asian women like latin men" :)
yes...just wished both cultures were more open on interracial relationships.
nope.
Janice Kim shut your dirty mouth up.

Fung Bro's, ABC trying to cancel the show selfie, starring Jon Cho in a romantic comedy. An asian broth is finally a lead male cast in this romantic series. I was wondering if you can do a quick blog letting people sign this petition to keep the show. www.change.org/p/abc-save-selfie-3
its cancelled.....
papi I know but this is a petition to uncancel it
Shao hua Guta The only one that sounds racist here is you. I'm white and I'm watching this as it looked entertaining/interesting and I also like aspects of asian culture. Here's a tip, don't generalise an entire race. Being asian, you should know better.
Shao hua Guta dude ur taking it too far. IF you were a true asian activist you wouldn't put down other races
Blondes are from Heaven yea in the beginning it's slow but its reaching it's peak and getting better and better! love the show, so much diversity.
As a Vallejo-raised Filipino who now lives about an hour drive east of LA, I can validate this video.
But I for sure cannot adapt to the slide-and-pound. The concept still confounds me.
How dude lol I grew up with both tbh
Asians that grew up in somewhat hood-ish conditions are easygoing, the rest are too damn snooty and closed off...so this NorCal/SoCal thing doesn't exist.
Yeah some are cool but most don’t like those that are snobby about going to an elite school a la Harvard, Columbia, Penn, Stanford, and even UCLA and Berkeley (although those aren’t as elite and not as pretentious but still classy) and never worked a close to min wage job, grew up in a rich place where the worst crime is a DUI or rare fight, have a snobby way of speaking. Ick...
I don't know how i stumbled across this.. I need Asian friends :(
Dam you fine ill be ur BFF
Alejandra Rodriguez Just say hello and I'm sure they'll befriend you
Alejandra Rodriguez so are you mexican?
Alejandra Rodriguez lol at my school over half r asian
+Alejandra Rodriguez omg me too, I need a token ethnic friend!
I live in central California so its a mix of both 😂😂
Daisy Carrillo no you're just screwed
I Believe Central California Is Much Closer To Northern California
I've never been to California but based on the video, I think I'd rather live in norcal if I had to move there for some reason lol but damn I'd be going to socal a lot! lol Also, the two girls in the video are beautiful! I wanna see you girls on tv!
Catthy Nguyen Um, NorCal is really cold especially for a SoCal person. I had to wear a jacket in San Jose in the middle of August because it was freezing!
Catthy Nguyen I'm from Florida so anything under 65 is pretty cold to me lol but I do love tea!
I think I will stay in T.O.
NorCal is super chill and laid back. Definitely better than SoCal! But that's just my opinion because I've lived in NorCal for all of my life xD
Bethany Francia If you lived in NorCal your whole life, of course, you would prefer your home turf without any comparison. I've been to NorCal, Central Cal, and SoCal and I'm happiest in SoCal.
Me deciding where to take my next travel contract in CA and I STILL remember this video 7 years lwter
