Billlie's doing their own thing, but I think they're going for the Red Velvet route where you don't know what sound they're gonna put up for their title track, and you'll either love or hate it, but for the b-sides, they're always gonna serve some quality r&b and soulful songs! Knowing their label is a subsidiary of SM, I can really see some parallelisms between Red Velvet and Billlie. I love both groups, and both have quality discographies.
Oooh yeah for sure in stanning red velvet I never know what to expect for the title track or if I’ll like it but I know it will be interesting at least, but the bsides I know will always serve no matter what and I definitely feel that way about billlie as wel
"Billlie deserve the hype as big as Newjeans" THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN TALKING ABT ON MY TWT ACC 😭 i do agree that their title track gatekeeping people to listening to their albums when the treasure is on the album it self 😭😭
Billlie always delivers b-sides! B'rave might be my song of the year tbh SAAY co wrote it! Coincidentally she came out with a song today called Alarm which is amazing too. She really doesn't miss!!
I think the biggest reason why Billlie isn't getting as much attention as NJ is the difference in how SM and Hybe promote their sublabels, because SM basically doesn't promote them at all. Not to discredit NJ's talents or anything, but they would've had to crawl their way out of nugudom if they weren't under Hybe, even if they had they exact same songs the have.
I mean njs supporters are mostly armys and hybe stans. Also the company itself and the new grps they currently debut are getting the hype from being bts little bros and sis. Also mhj being quite known give the group the advantage aside from being under hybe.
@@jyc_nn9993 not an army or hybe stan, but i do think new jeans has really catchy songs and the promotion is actually really wild. i got confused when i saw them get recommended to me out of nowhere and already have millions of views despite their videos only being uploaded a few days from the day i saw them. it's also crazy for them to make multiple videos for one song because i usually only see this from western artists but it works... because i was confused and watched two of them by accident and looked for the other two because now i just have to finish the story xD... billie could benefit from this type of crazy promotion too but then again i am not counting on sm. they basically killed woolim and let lovelyz die in obscurity. i dont even know that billie is from their sublabel until op's comment.. since sm isdoing that kwangya universe thing (i still dont understand what that is tbh), i think they could use their sublabels as spin-offs or complimentary lores seeing how clean they made the billie lore
This album honestly might be aoty for me like B'rave slayed me to infinity and BACK!! The songwriters on this are also no joke like SAAY??? Absolutely insane! (Also Fifi I think the word you were looking for was subsidiary!)
when i heard the snippet teaser for brave i had to pause and take a breather 3 seconds into it, it gave such red velvet vibes which makes so much sense cause sm producers worked on every track i think, and if i'm not mistaken saay also worked on brave😚🤌🏼
I actually like how they always experiment with their title track while keeping their billlie sound with the bside. Even if you don't vibe with the title track as much (its the weakest one for me too) you know you will still have that billlie sound all over their album. You can get both, the usual and something new. And one thing holds true regardless, and that's that objectively their songs are gonna be REALLY well produced. Billlie really is setting a new standard for me personally! Ps: My personal favorite is Mcguffin-who's the joker^^
i think the title track is one of these songs that will grow into me, i really liked the verses rather than the chorus but im happy just knowing they delivered one the best albums of this year
I was in the verge of tears while listening to Brave, the chords, vocal production/melodies... I can't believe it took me a month to listen to this mini😭😭😭
When you find out Saay is credited for Brave a song for Matilda, you can totally hear her style in there. A lot of the Meoldies (and just the intrumental itself) sound like something you'd hear in a Saay song and I'm here for all of it! I love this album it's one of the best this year!
b'rave definitely sounds like it could be a saay so when I found out she helped write it it didn't surprise me at all! she definitely has a very distinct sound
imo billlie is putting out the best music in terms of ggs rn and onlyoneof is doing it for bgs like im so obsessed with this entire album and billlie has never missed for me theyre just so
one of the main reasons i stanned billlie is because of the moon siblings (astro's moonbin and billlie's sua) and for me both astro and billlie's gems in terms of music are really in their albums! in LOVE with the heartwarming and lighthearted b-sides of astro, while i LIVE for the experimental soulful rnb b-sides of billlie.
Now that my initial hype ran off, I have to agree with you. In even a broader sense, as someone who listened to Rock and Metal basically all his Life, almost everytime I listen to K-Pop groups doing Rock (Not counting my ults Dreamcatcher, but even there sometimes) it feels restrained. Like I wait for that 'Oomph' but it doesn't come. So yeah, love the B-sides, Ring x Ring remains my favourite title track though.
I love this EP so much, the title track might not be what I wanted from them, but I don't mind it tho, THE BSIDES FUCKING SLAP, I WANTED TO SCREAM TO EVERY SINGLE SONG
i absolutely love the title track, but I do understand why it doesn't hit w some people, but I still think it had a different vibe then when other kpop groups do a rock concept if its not their normal vibe. And the vocals really hit. For me the whole album was golden.
Honestly with their whole thing abt B-sides I wouldn’t be surprised if that was their point😂 like the title tracks are okay but their highlights are their b-sides,, like they WANT people to listen to their b-sides and pay attention to more than just the title track
I love Billlie! I truly believe they have the best discography out of 4th gen ggs Also, am I the only one that thinks that Brave and Nct127's Love Song are sister songs? I listened to both songs back to back and wow it was heavenly
Have to agree to disagree on the title track. I thought it was fantastic and one of the comebacks of the year. I get that there’s a “rock” trend this year, but this was one of the best. Billlie seem to be a group that never do the same thing twice. As someone else has commented, shades of Red Velvet, where the title track can throw you for a loop, but the b-sides are solid gold. So far Billlie have not dropped the ball and I’m looking forward to the album.
Billlie are like indie artists. IYKYK. Billlie is that group, they are those girls but only the right people know about them eventhough EVERYONE should know them.
lmfaoooo i KNEW you were gonna like those two bsides!!!! also i agree with your opinion on the title track! although im not really keeping up with current kpop releases, so i didnt realize rock was a trend, it wasnt as experimental as their other title tracks. they slayed the vocals and rap, but it would be cool if they had added a little more flair! it will still be going platinum in my household tho
In my opinion, all of Billlie title tracks thus far has been different each time with different vibes. Although yes their B-sides have a more familiar Billlie sounds, their title tracks i feel never fully dive into that unique distinctive sound (RING x RING, Snowy Night, Gingamingayo and Patbingsu). So i think with saying RING ma bell was new for them is true, their previous title tracks are considered 'new' and never stick to a particular sound too. Once again, this is just my opinion on their songs and their particular sound.
FIFIII I felt the same about the song when I watched the mv but after seeing their performance and choreo the song really got much better! you should check it out, their stage presence is everything, they killed this cb
do you know the real reason why people don't hype billlie yet...? let's be honest for ONE minute. *internalized jealousy* is a very frequent thing in the kpop community but no one will admit it. i mean... a "nugu" grp triving ONLY by skills and quality... what did we expect...?
I’ve been hyping Billlie since day one. I love IVE, Le Sserafim, NewJeans and Kep1er…but Billlie has deserved to be talked about in the same vein as all of these groups. However, the experimental sound of their first track didn’t appeal to the dull masses and they’ve been sleeping on them ever since. I’ve been so disappointed by both IVE and Billlie’s title tracks, but the b-sides are all outstanding, so at least I can enjoy that.
Contrary to you, i like Ring ma bell that's their title track that i prefer, i didn't like gingamingayo, i love Brave a song for mathilda, also Sun palace! At first, i didn't listen the entire song of My B, i find it too repetitive and didn't like it, i skip it, but now, i like towards the end but that's all, i won't skip it but listen more at the finale chorus
Hey fifi, I just realized you don't have the first album of billlie reaction on here? Is it on patreon? Also, is there any chance you can react to all the billlie dance practices they've been posting recently?♡
as a rock music fan, im really bored with the rock trend in kpop recently. every song sounds like the same pop rock progression and all the impressive guitar playing sounds quite artificially curated, like factory made uniqueness. it feels like groups are trying too hard to be different by going for the hard rock sound that they end up going full circle and creat a sound that’s extremely generic. edit: however they are doing an impeccable job with their bsides. no misses.
100% agree ... it’s like they’re all going for the same pop rock sound instead of venturing into all the sub genres at least too! Rock is such a broad genre as is kpop so I don’t understand why they’re not experimenting with it a bit more!
@@fifizappareacts exactly! i would love to hear billlie do the edm-metal combo you hear from a lot of japanese bands/units since their sound would fuse much more cohesively with that type of music. it would allow them freedom to show THEIR sounds and THEIR colours
