I think I tricked myself into thinking I’m too smart to let my emotions control me. I found myself leaving bruises on my hand from slamming my desk, headaches from hitting myself, shameful listening quietly to see if my neighbors noticed the noise. Only VERY recently did I notice how self destructive I was being. How you brought up sitting with your feelings, probably not one single time in the past few years playing fighting games did I really internalize any negative feelings, I think that’s why it turned into anger so often. I noticed I put way too much pressure on the social aspect of it (what little bit there is online) and really clinging to it. Getting 10x more angry when I get one and done’d than when I get perfected. Trying to frame my outlook differently and your idea of sitting with and accepting the negative feelings is really smart and a way I hadn’t looked at it before.
I've been there. That used to be me with SFV Ranked which pushed my tilt to new levels. Self inflicted injuries from anger is definitely something that i dealt with and i'm kinda still working on. Defintiely the social aspect is the cause of it. I would say don't put your life into the game. it should be enjoyed and not made to feel like a 9-5 job. I hope this helps.
Recently (yesterday) got a fightstick and its so overwhelming adjusting I feel like I'm right back at the beginning. So I get the feeling, man. I was terrified to queue but I did it. You got this buddy.
Anytime u get tilted u need to refocus on ur own gameplan. Sometimes we get really mad at the way the oponent is playing and we get too focused on their bs. We need to always go back to the gameplan, whats effective against this character, and make THEM deal with OUR bs. And make little adjustments along the way. U will still lose sometimes, but if u keep ur gameplan in mind ur not gonna get tilted and lose 10 games in a row. "Here comes a new challenger!" Its fuckin Guile. Whats ur gameplan? Think. Execute.
Im not gonna yap but your videos are really helpful and appreciated, its surprising to see how far the relatability stretches i always thought this self destructive mindset was a me problem because its not something many people ever talk about past "get good" or something
It seems that you are getting somewhere and being with honest with yourself is a start to achieving a better mindset at anything. Well done with this video, I think these videos are healthy and eye opening for people dealing with the same issues whether its fighting games or something different. Keep making these man. You're helping a lot of people with this.
man said 🫵👁️👄👁️ but I think it is something a lot us don't realize: that being able to control yourself is what opens you to controlling others in the game
Im about halfway through but I wanted to comment before i finished the video. I also lie to my self and im not as young as you. Seeing things for what they are is tough sometimes. Your street Fighter journey seems to be opening your mind up more and more.
Youre at master rank, you are good at the game man, just play and learn little things as you go, you’re not a pro nor are you trying to be, you dont have to stress about the game like a tournament player, thats the luxury of being a non pro, just have fun, i havent punched myself in the head for months and im ranking up in tekken (garyu) and can still beat masters in sf6 its all fun now and labbing😢
Out of curiosity, do you have a goal beyond ranked? Have you ever competed at your locals or just simply wanted to be better than someone outside of ranked? It just feels to me like you put everything into Ranked. It dictates if youre playing well, a good player and just doing well in general it seems. When it reality you could be high rank and still lose to youre friends easily, go 0-2 at locals etc. What do you want to prove by being high Ranked online?
Sorry for blowing up your comments but I wanted to tell you that I am now your second Patreon guy lol. If at all possible, my homie and I are playing SF6 this weekend and we would like to know if you would like to get some games in. My bro TKO Sentinel was a magician in USF4 and him and I are trying to like SF6 lol. We are playing this Sunday my brother.
@@AndyLO2 Dope. I am going to learn Deejay and Marisa but honestly Ed is probably where I am going to be end up at. I love Boxer characters. Here is a video of me and my friend TKO going at it like savages in USF4. We used to be good lol. th-cam.com/video/SzVqvAYSaIs/w-d-xo.html
