      Thank you so much Debbie! I had such fun last week with both projects. The blanket is the first time I made something totally without a pattern. It really has been an interesting experience.

    The library is an awesome resource for crafters. Our library does programs where I have learned a new skill.

      What a great thing, to learn a new skill at the library! I would like to check into that, and see if they offer things for adults here...

    Mr. Yarn with Heart here..... Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) I have significant expertise in detangling yarn (thanx, Cathy...... I think...) so that would be my Olympic event (no one else in the house will do it)🤣

      I've tried asking for my sons help with this also... No luck. So, Mr W gets all the practice at this sport... LOL

    Hi Cathy! The kitty cat is adorable. And your summer cal Christmas blanket is so pretty. You are leaps and bounds ahead of me in that! I plan to also make a blanket but I've only done 6 squares, and and still have 2 more stitches to learn. I'm glad she gave us plenty of time. Hopefully I'll be able to finish! Thank you for the great idea about visiting the library for patterns! I don't know why I forget about it. I also have the online ap. I may check out the ebooks first. Now that I'm growing more confident with written patterns, I love that idea!

      Thank you so much for the encouragement about the kitty cat. During July, I had a lot of days when I didn't crochet, so I think I had a lot of "crochet energy" built up. LOL Please don't stress about your blanket -- as there is still a month left in the CAL and I'm pretty sure you will have enough time. And on the other hand, if you are pressed for time because of other things you need to do, it is totally ok to change your mind, and to make something else with fewer squares for the CAL. That's the nice thing about the Summer CAL -- no pattern, very few requirements... Love it!

    My Olympic event would be frogging projects and making big yarn knots 😅 your kitty cat turned out wonderful! I am so inspired by you making blankets and hats/scarves to donate to others, I want to start making hats and blankets for babies in the NICU. Thanks for the video!

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah yes, frogging and yarn knots -- could this sometimes even be a Biathlon event? LOL
      Please keep me posted, if you decide to contact NICU, as it will be good information to share here (about the type of projects they are looking for, and types of yarns, etc). I have never crocheted/knit for wee ones in NICU and very interested to learn more...

    I would probably need an Olympic event for the oldest WIP. I have a sweater I started years ago. I got bigger than it. So ripped it down. Started again, but didn’t finish. Now I’m several sizes smaller….again. So need to rip it back and restart again. Your cat turned out really cute.

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mary! What an amazing thing about your sweater... The yarn in that WIP will have given you soooo many hours of knitting enjoyment by the time you have a completed sweater! And reading your comment, I feel like you will be wearing that sweater this winter. (Diane's cat pattern was so much fun to make... thank you so much for your comment about it.)

    Hi miss Cathy! I think most creative yarn bomb would be a neat category. I absolutely love the teal kitty!❤ my fav color and it had so much character. I think a good name for her would be miss sassafrass, because she miss really sassy to me. The blue blanket has such a wonderful looking texture. Lots of great ideas, thank you for sharing.

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for suggesting a name for the kitty. That is a lovely name! Creative Yarn-bombing is a great category for an event. I'm happy to hear that you like the texture in the knit blanket. (I really like textured stitches also.)

    My Olympic event would be spinning, not a chance to win, but I like. Not knitting as I make too mistakes and have to go back, even though I’ve been knitting for years it never fails.😊

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It amazes me to see people spin fibre. Very cool! And about my knitting... best not to look too closely, as there might be mistakes in mine too. Someday I will learn to fix them, but for now I try to "blend them in" and if I can't blend them in, it's frog city...

    Hi Cathy I think your cat is super cute and kitty cat is the purrfect name! I think I learn something pretty much every time I knit something. My choice of Olympic event would be the fastest yarn winder upper! 😘

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Loraine! Isn't it wonderful that there are so many variations and techniques to learn? For me, this is part of the fun... and even just using a different yarn with a technique that is familiar can totally change things in a whole new way! Love it so much! My yarn winding skills are not on point (Mr W is much better at that than I am. LOL)

    Hi Cathy. All of your makes are beautiful. Your cat turned out great! I think I’m already competing in the yarn gathering event😂. And the bargain yarn hunting event, I hate paying full price. Hope you’re keeping well, cooler days ahead, I’m excited!

      @YarnWithHeart  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Tami! Thank you so much! Diane's pattern for the cat was great -- and I thought it was amazing that you guessed (last week) what I was making. Thankful that mornings are much cooler, so I can even get outside for a bit of a hike, without overheating. That's been great! Hooray for both yarn hunting and yarn gathering events...

      Thank you Judy! I like the pattern name too... just not original. I definitely did have a favorite stitch. The spiked sedge stitch, as it was totally new to me and had amazing texture.

    Free pattern collecting sounds fun! I’ve found some good books at my library as well. Have you tried cumulus cotton yarn by Juniper Moon Farms? I’m currently making my mom a summer, short sleeve cardigan. It feels wonderful and since it’s worsted weight it’s going fairly quickly 😊

      Hi Dimitra! The magic loop technique is something that I would like to learn. I haven't tried it yet. (I was using the circulars that I use when making hats.)
