What if we let them work instead of locking them up? That way they can earn money, spend it thus boosting the economy, pay taxes, and contribute to society. Currently they're sitting around in detention centres which costs a fortune in food, heating, medicine etc. Surely it would be wiser to let them contribute?
@@timmcardle5764 And live where, in tents? How is people paying even more on rent good for the economy? People are already paying about half of their income on rent. Is this not enough for you? Should it be 90%? I don't know what your situation is, but how miserable for those having to rent.
@@paulpenfold2352 simple solution- the government build more houses. We already have a housing shortage and the government are already building more homes for the growing UK population. Well let's increase that to accomodate the migrants as well. This way, more people are in work building them, therefore more taxes are paid and everyone gets a house.
When I started working from home on my own business I got so much more done, no more pointless meetings which achieved nothing but to stroke the ego of the boss, no endless stream of emails from administrators trying to justify their existence. Creative people work far better without constant interference. There may be some jobs where chats around the water cooler lead to great things but I suspect very few.
Sorry, have to disagree. Before Covid working from home wasn’t even a thought in my mind, now I do work from home it’s a blessing; I can work longer, better flexibility, if I have a Drs Appointment in the afternoon I can log off, come back, log back onto work again without worrying about the office being shut after 5:00, if my kid is sick I can stay home & still work, if my car breaks down I can still work. It’s also been proven productivity is higher when working remotely. This isn’t about performing better when in the office, this is about micromanaging & lack of trust with their employees.
I can imagine a lot of Mr Habib's staff looking for alternative employment after his lovely chat. The brainstorming/chatting thing in the office is rubbish. The office is usually a building full of people who can barely tolerate each other. Ask why has the population increased. And our economy wouldn't be in the dire state it's in if the govt hadn't spunked money up the wall left right and centre, forced people to close their businesses (harming GDP further). But yeah, blame WFH. As for kicking one party out in favour of another one, what's the point? The illusion of democracy is now long dead.
Yes let’s see how they get on at the interview when they say they want to stay at home and work unsupervised and if this is not available then they’re not interested in the post.
If you can work from home at the same efficiency, then I would imagine employers could employ from anywhere in the world. Maybe the stay at home brigade should reconsider!
Working from home saves me about £900 a month in train costs. So I’ll work from home because there’s no way my employer will pay me an extra £900 for that. The office I actually get less work done because there’s always different people wanting to talk to you, from home it’s just me and I can focus on what I need to do. Much better and much more productive for me
firstly, why is it your employers responsibility to pay your expenses to get to work?, secondly you work place needs a shake up if you can all stop to chat at work!
Some parts of England have already become a third world country, which is any city where the indigenous English are now a minority. A million people have come into the Country and GDP hasn’t increased - it doesn’t take a genius to work that out as 99% of those who have come here don’t work and have no intention of working. I’m surprised GDP hasn’t gone done. I’m 62 now, what’s the point of going back to work, my voice isn’t heard on any of the policies so why should I work what’s left of my life to support people I don’t want in my Country
Trouble is, Habib wants us all to work harder and harder, but he means the general taxpayers, the ones at the bottom of the pile, who get taxed more and more to pay for everyone else, while the rich get richer and the government seem to want us to work until we drop.
People who own their own business are still working while you are at the pub. Thanks to the Tories raising the tax threshold over the years people on low wages pay very little tax and the top 1% pay a third of the income tax collected - the top 10% pay two - thirds. If these people leave the UK for a lower tax country - like the French earners did when Sarkozy hiked their tax and they came to the U.K. We benefited greatly from that as did they - a 50% tax in the U.K. whilst a 75% tax in France - this influx netted us billions of pounds.
Lockdowns forced on the people by all MP's proved that in a lot of cases theres no need to be in the office. Everyone i work with knows productivity is increased by home working. Now they want to backtrack because they want more fuel duty paid, more city center spending that can be taxed etc. Karma's a b*tch.
skiving from home like my neighbour-always doing DIY work now and summer in gardenjucuzzi- whilst his mates in the office covers his duties like the phone calls and customers-pay those at work more and less for at home
I will eat my hat if the majority aren't civil servants who demand to work from home. It's easy for them as they doo so little when they tiurn up anyway
The bosses are terrified of the moment when the real workers - those who work on factory floors those who cannot work from home - the cogs basically will kick up a fuss eventually. Working from home is a very middle class luxury.
What utter rubbish. It's easy for managers to gauge employee production either way. I worked from home on contract for years for merchant banks with great success. Employers know best and would not tolerate WFH if it didn't work. This nation's problems stem from economic mismanagement and a lack of quality leadership. Stop blaming hard-working employees for the mistakes and incompetence of people at the top.
Mr Hunt wants us retirees to come back into the workplace. If he means working from home I will put my hand up. But don't expect me in the office anytime soon. I've done my 43 years of hard graft. Thanks but no thanks.
Hmmmm. My missus is about to pop our first child. I’d love her to be able to work from home because the reality between the cost and the lack of time with kiddo, getting others to care for him isn’t feasible.
I'm really not sure why they are always so upset about some people working from home, if some prefer that, the employers are happy with it and its not effecting productivity what's the issue? Plus people often save huge amounts of time and money needlessly commuting to and from the office when for many jobs it can be done perfectly well from home at least part of the time.
Should workers be able to choose to work from home?
Employers should choose.
Yes so they don’t need to waste and money on travel to work

No they wouldn't quit, give them a choice, office or dismissal, and watch the back peddling!
1 million new (unwanted) people arrived last year. Not one had paid into the system on arrival.
And still more come. So what’s the point?!

Ben Habib, who runs all his factories from POLAND so that he can avoid paying UK wages and UK taxes. What a bloke!
