Totally...and just think of all of the youtube channels with people who tell their prison story and talk with confidence about how they survived the state or federal pen. Well, not only did this cat survive and prosper, but he freaking escaped! Every inmate fantasizes and dreams of escaping. The thought crosses the mind of every inmate. But only a rare, select few actually go through with it. That takes balls. He is SOOOO fortunate that Florida don't have the automatic and mandatory, 5 or 10 year Escape charge which they add onto your current sentence. I asked him during a live Q&A chat on his channel..and I believe Brian said that they only gave him 1.5 years for the escape and 12 of those months were spent in Segregation. So he really lucked out there.

I dug into this dude's story - Florida Man strikes again, there was a decent amount of reporting on it - ALL of it was cleverly written to not mention the dirty CO or any sort of assistance.
Hearing it told honestly by someone with nothing to gain from lying is fascinating when you compare it to the narrative that was published.

I am studying Law in Australia, but I have a good range on US law in some states as well as federal law of the US because it fascinates me. The fact that he took a plea deal for 'Manslaughter' means that he has basically pleaded guilty to a charge that the prosecution has admitted they will take (sometimes on the proviso of other information etc.). The fact the judge said 'you would have won if you had gone to trial' etc. (although I do find that to be unprofessional what he said) is perfectly legal and he is well within his rights to do. Also, because this man took the plea deal and is agreeing to it, the judge is merely hearing both sides to see if the plea deal is legitimate. If it is, it will go through. The prisoners that so-called (studied law in jail) are in this case wrong.
*Edit* Just a general note as well, if the judge did make a bad mistake in sentencing a man can sue for 'Wrongful conviction' and gain 'compensation' as a result. So I don't know why, IF, he was able to take his case back to court he wouldn't. Well, as I said because he couldn't. But let's say that he was wrongfully convicted because of judge error. Then it would be WELL worth your time, even if you were going to be out of jail in 1 day! To take the matter back to court to at the very LEAST get you rightful compensation and your name cleared.

I know this is an old post but I just have to state that NONE of those "jailhouse attorneys" (aka the inmates who "study" law) know shit about shit...maybe 1 out of 500 who claim to know the law, actually knows what they are talking about. People in jail in general you just can't listen to anything they say. Doing that will definitely get you pointed in the wrong direction.
