I feel very honoured my daughter have got tickets to go & watch this wonderful ceremony. I am 86 & am so glad I was able to see it before I was gone. Seeing things like this makes one patriotic sadly nowadays so rare in our multi-cultural society. I see GSM 'Vern' Stokes keeping a watchful eye in the background. He certainly has had a busy past 12 months, organising the Queen's funeral, the Coronation & now this. Well done GSM.
I've got tickets too but I'm not particuarly patriotic in the conventional sense (whatever that means anyway) nor am I a royalist (nor a republican either). It's indeed possible to enjoy a good parade, and this is a very good parade, without personal, political, or ideological investment. It is what it is and I enjoy it as such (I'm also a military historian). Have a great day at Horse Guards. PS I think I knew Andrew Stokes as a kid knocking around Madeley (Telford) but I'm not sure.
Wow, we haven’t seen a birthday parade with the five foot guards regiments, all on parade together for some time, usually there is at least one regiment missing, although their regimental band is normally on parade within the masses bands, but this year we have them all, Numbers 1 & 2 Guards found by the Welsh Guards, Number 3 Guard found by Grenadier Guards (presumably Nijmegen Company) Number 4 Guard found by the Scots Guards (I guess F Company) Number 5 Guard found by the Irish Guards Number 6 Guard found by the Coldstream Guards (presumably No7 Company) And with both the Lifeguards and The Blues & Royals of the household cavalry on parade to, the entire household division will be be on parade! That hasn’t happened for sometime under normal circumstances excluding the State Funeral and Coronation.
I am glad to hear that this is a rehearsal. Having watched the Queen's coronation and all the birthday parades since 1955 never have I seen such a wavey, wobbly marching pattern. Either the troops were not in top form or the cameraman's settings are out of sync. I sincerely hope it's the latter as I can not believe the troops were so off time. Granted, the troops looked smarter when they had minimum height 6ft. At least they looked level. Now, with lowered height restrictions, one would think they would have their rows in height levels, so there is not a shorty marching next to a lofty. It looks so odd. Never will it be as smart as it used to be. So sad 😔
They are unable to reach the old standards due to operational demands. Back then, they had multiple battalions (1st/2nd battalions) and one could stay on ops and the other stays on ceremonial which meant more time doing drill and perfecting. Nowadays they are only one battalion and most guards are usually on deployment 80% of the time and only have 20% of time to do drill. The incremental companies exist but they’re smaller than a battalion
Legend has it that the 1964 Trooping by the 1ST BN Coldstream Guards was the smartest trooping ever performed. Pity we have only limited footage to see what all the fuss was about.
@@ericshin121🙂 Thank you for your input. It certainly helps to understand why the parade standard has dropped. Biggest mistake was dropping National Service. Amazing how we never learn from history hence why it keeps repeating itself since time began. 😔🤨
@@malcolmhouston7932 hopefully, each regiment will have practiced on their own at their own barracks, but there are usually 2 rehearsals for trooping when all of them come together, the Major Generals Review, in which the General Officer Commanding London District takes the salute, i this case Major General Chris Ghika, and that is followed a week or so later by the Colonels review, in which one of the Royal or Regimental Colonels take the salute.
Freedom of Windsor is the first in the slow troop but I don't recognize the second. For the quick troop it's March of the King's Men and then Wisdom, Determination & Bravery.

They have had so much in the past year: the Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth's funeral, the Coronation. They have done Britain proud.

I always love the music of the Massed Bands of the Foot Guards. Superb. 👍🎶
GOD SAVE THE KING.
LONG LIVE THE KING.
I have profound respect for the Brits, with that olive red tunic it's amazing.

Bagay talaga ang uniform na pula. Super attractive
Looks like it's the Welsh Guards' turn to troop their colour this year. Yay!!
God bless the King 👑.

The last best parades for me were 2009 and 2010. Other than that, so-so, but not the best. In the past they had very high standards.

The guards still top the rest of the army

Poor buggers. They look tired.
Rewind 25 to 30 yrs ago. See the difference.
The dressing is all over the place, this needs to be sorted out.
Vern Stokes will hammer them into shape, bearing in mind this was their first rehearsal all together, the next one will be the colonels review.
No doubt yout expert advice about A REHEARSAL will be taken into account.

I would wish that Britain remain with their thing. Amalgamation will dissolve everything we have ever known about the famous British army parades.
