In this Platinum Jubilee year the 1st Battalion Irish Guards trooped their colour on Horse Guards Parade. The Massed Bands of the Household Division were under the direction of LtCol Simon Haw, Band of the Coldstream Guards.

When performing the spin wheel they'll face the troop or not

Thanks Dad for giving us so many year's of joy and hardship whilst you were abroad. This is what it's all worth fighting for. Let's never forget our heritage.
As someone who is not a British Subject, watching this demonstration of loyalty to H.M. Elizabeth II, makes me envy those who are Her subjects!

Even though H.M. Elizabeth II wan not monarch at that time, her commitment to her subjects in her radio broadcast, prior to the death of her father AND her fulfillment of those commitments, demonstrate H.M. is worthy of the highest loyalty!

Nobody does this sort of thing like the Brits! Wonderful to see/hear. Fond regards from your upstart children across the pond; like so many kids, the older we get the more we love even parents we once resented. God save and bless the Queen.....and all the men and women who serve her.

I along with my siblings were very fortunate to see this pomp and ceremony very often when I was a young lad. My father was in the British army for 36 years he was in the Royal Irish Fusiliers so when I watch this it brings back memories that I will never forget
My father served twenty-two years with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, finishing his career in Fenham Barracks. Our quarter was directly opposite the parade square so band music was all part and parcel of every day. I love a military band, particularly British - yes I am biased; It is in my D&A. But all military bands are a great pull, especially if feeling down. 💂🏼♂️🇬🇧

People can say all their negatives but ,look at all the people,look at all the work look at all the employment,from something that is so awe inspiring.
Makes me proud of my ancestry! Have always loved martial music, and The British Grenadiers is a particular favourite.

Watching Her Majestys band I get a real lump in my throat, and a beat in my chest of how proud I am to be British.
Only the British can do pomp and ceremony in such scale and grandeur for such an important celebration for such as this a jubilee celebration for Her Majesty The Queen.
I'd love to be there amongst the crowd, but now living in Australia have to settle to watch the people in awe and just listen to that absolutely wonderful music. I never tire of it. It's definitely in my blood
I get a lump in my chest and I'm not even British, but I am a Monarchist and pround to be part of the Commonwealth being an Australian of Irish decent. That slow beat march grabs me every time. Just amazing, especially with the mounted bands. 💕 🇦🇺

We were in stand L and evacuated. It was calm, no panic we had no idea what had happened. I felt sorry for the poor soldier who fainted in front of our stand, I hope he’s ok. Plus of course the public who were injured.

I'm not British but I have watched the trooping of the colour with my dad on TV every year since I was a child. I will never not love the sound of a brass marching band. It's in the blood and the dna. Goosebumps every time. Would love to be there in person someday. Xx ❤

"Massed bands drums and pipes " has not been used by the Snr Drum major as the preparatory word of command at the Trooping since the days of "Dixie" Dean Irish Guards, as far as I know anyway,
OMG, I really wish I could be over there for this Celebration.
I am traveling out on Monday from NY going for the week of Jubilee Celebrations .
To my mind, this is far better and far more entertaining than any phony, hyped-up Drum Corps show.

As a member of the Ceremonial Guards Band in Canada back in 1981 we did a much scaled down version of the Trooping of the Colour and I can tell you from experience when the Band is wheeling in a circle it was pretty easy to get lost and lose your place. Lots of rehearsals to get it right. It was amazing to be a part of.

As a Salvationist of the Salvation Army, I often like seeing trooping the Colour because of the Bands. They often play Christian tunes and many other popular tunes. Many Bandsmen of the Salvation Army also served in the Bands of the Royal guards. Kudos to them and Kudos to all 👍

Even a year later, its still magnificant. Can't beat our military. I believe this was one of the Queen;s favourite parades - her face would just light up as they did the arch Past Salute...so wonderful to see. RIP QUeen Eliz 2nd. You are missed.

Unless you have played with several marching bands, you don't know how difficult this is!

I was a few rows behind the man and woman who fell through on the North stand, A4... (right side of the video) You can see both stands being evacuated in the video.
We were down in the front in the middle and the first we knew of it was after we left and were watching the news.

What I love about the British style of drill is that they aren't subdued like US but also not ridiculous like the Russians or Chinese in their flair. I always maintain that events like this is exactly when an army should show off but not so much that they look like militarized peacocks. We, the US, look like we're just strolling over to Walmart while places like Russia look like some circus act. What we see in this video is the perfect balance of showing off but being reasonable about it.

Great vid and thanks for your time and effort on the day. 👍 Incidentally, do the bands reduce their frontage of 20 (I think) musicians as they come off Horse Guards Parade onto Horse Guards Road at the end of the parade. Looks a tight fit otherwise. I seem to recall this happening on some of the older BBC coverage.
Ken, they maintain the full 20 across the entire way down the mall, but reduce spacing between. It is a tight squeeze, especially for the Grenadiers and Coldstream on the flanks!

It might not be appropriate to name him, but I wonder who is the Drum Major leading the left flank of the Massed Bands. He looks to be about 6' 7". Very impressive figure.

Glad you could attend on the 28th. I was lucky to be there watching from the Mall then unlike the week before when on Horse Guards filming this video. I film on my phone, an iPhone 13 Pro and take photographs (that can be seen on Facebook/Instagram etc) with a Panasonic LUMIX FZ3200
As a Grenadier Guard, I think this is awesome.
6:48 near the Australian or New Zealand flags, a soldier fainted. As an Air Cadet, during uniform inspection, one of the cadets fainted and hit his chin on the floor, causing him to get stitches. I feel bad for the soldier and send my condolences.
Some usually faint each year unfortunately 🏴

What is the surface that they march on, never see any sign of dust coming up but presume it has to be reasonably cushioned for the horses.

Shadows and the past glory of an empire. Great spectacle, the history of over 300 years of blood, sweat and power behind these uniforms is still amazing. But all Good Things (Or Not SO Good in hindsight) Must come to an end anyway. Empires do not last forever; I hope that memory of American one is as good as that of the British one.

All the carriages were empty as it was the final dress rehearsal the actual trooping is on Thursday 2nd of June in case you don't know!
