13:41 Yes! I totally agree! This would’ve been a great set to get Stan Lee, Amazing Fantasy 15 Spider-Man, 1st appearance Iron Man, etc that we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise because this is the Marvel logo, not just the Marvel Studios logo. It would’ve been nice to get minifigures covering a wider range of Marvel content than just the MCU again.
I 100% agree on the hate for the x-mansion not being earned. People need to realise, yes, the scale isn’t the same compared to the Sanctum, or the Tower, but it’s not meant to be - it’s a mansion, a residential building. Also, if the “fans” really want it full sized, imagine how big that would have to be?? $1000 set anyone?! No thanks. This was really the only way this could have been done. I’m impressed it had a closed back, imagine the outrage if it was an open back set?
I feel like another thing about the Daily Bugle, is that Spider-man has existed as a theme for a long time so Lego already had so many character and prints ready in there arsenal, and if they did make any new prints, they could easily use that in the future to make their money back, from my understanding X-men had to make a lot of these figures from scratch and chances are Lego can't just throw these guys is some random sets in the future as well since X-men isn't as strong of an IP as spider-man. So that also might be why the Daily Bugle was able to have a lot more figures. Correct me if I'm wrong though, just a hunch I had in my head.
That’s actually a really good way of thinking. Even just for minifigures, spider-Man, and Spider-Man adjacent characters already have a lot of prints and molds that they can reuse. Not quite the same case in X-Men
I would compare the Mansion with Sanctum Sanctorum, and for that matter, the difference in piece count is only 385, but the price difference is 80 bucks. Also, minifig-wise, the comparison works better than with the Bugle (9 vs. 10), but I still cannot fathom how the Mansion is smaller than the Sanctorum while costing 80 bucks more. Either we are getting smaller and exclusive pieces with the Mansion, or Lego is bumping up the price.
The X-Mansion is fantastic for it size and price. The X-Mansion I would absolutely want would be so very much bigger but so much more expensive. The figures are okay but just short of amazing. I agree with that the Marvel logo is so iconic that just seeing it will bring so many thoughts about everything Marvel. What is it with the drama of Hitmontop? I'm so curious. And the gorilla on Barad Dur is classic.
I agree with the X-mansion stuff, I think people are forgetting that if they made it any bigger then it would be a $700 AUD set (currently $500 AUD). I do think it should have had 2 more minifigures like Nightcrawler and Jubilee, plus Professor X needs a huge upgrade. But besides that the set is great. The Marvel logo is fine, but here in Australia it’s $150 AUD, it’s just a bit too pricey. I think if I came with a Stan Lee or a few more Marvel icon characters like Human Torch then it would have been a day 1 purchase for everyone. Though that airport battle set can go straight into the bin.
I like the x mansion but marvel logo is a bit overpriced and should have come with stan Lee, namor or hulk, comic Thor, yellow comic iron man and human torch instead of the lineup for the premium price. It is a giant red box but people like that, at first, I thought it was terrible but looking at it with actual footage and high res images instead of what was leaked, it’s not that bad. I wouldn’t buy it but I see why others would, I just think it’s very disappointing with the lineup, but absolutely get the appeal, it’s not as bad as the x jet which was so overpriced and nothing near the disaster of the civil war set, as you said in the video. That’s just sad, it’s worse than a big red box, it’s a big grey plate which we have so much of. The age of ultron one worked because of the details, trees and snow, there’s no landscaping that makes it look nice like the age of ultron has, it’s all grey, also a problem I have with the civil war film is that it’s too grey but that’s another rant entirely. I feel for the people who had to buy it to review it or for kids, it’s just really unsatisfying, and the ant man really doesn’t work with the scale of it. They should have used a mech as an add on for $10 or whatever so people get their ant man figure and a mech and can add if they want but don’t have to and use the remaining parts to make the build a lot nicer and make it feel like an airport, add in a terminal, which spiderman can trap falcon and winter solider in via the new web piece hanging from a ceiling, arm printing for winter solider. There’s so much that could be done when you take the $35 ant man action figure out of the equation. also I also think the x mansion looks better than the history museum. They did such a good job with it. It’s also fully in scale with daily bugle and avengers tower. But sanctum is minifig scale so all of them are out of scale with that. Very good points raised here. Lovely to watch you guys communicate about Lego, I like seeing 2 people do it as opposed to 1 because it’s nice hearing the different opinions you guys have.
My problem with the Marvel logo is that it's just tacky. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a cool idea but I just wouldn''t want it on my shelf. I can't imagine bringing a date home and they see this set, I feel like they would lmao. I think there are other sets that look so much better on display and my budget is not infinite.
My big issues with the x-mansion are i wish it was bigger. The interiors look great just so cramped. I am working on my own custom larger x-mansion though it isn't the end of the world. I really wish we got a couple more x-men. Colossus and nightcrawler would have been incredible. Psylocke and emma frost too. And the brotherhood. We need blob, pyro, toad, sabertooth and Mysteque (sorry for bad spelling)
Personally if I had space and money for them, I would totally buy the marvel modulars over just regular modulars or star wars UCS sets, however I do feel as though they should be somewhat uniform and fit together since lego has kind of made 'marvel modulars' their own line of sets. In saying that I think the figures on the X-mansion are actually pretty good! Also hitmontop is so underrated, chan and lee get all the love but hitmontop is such a chill guy
REAL ONE 😆 It is the unsung evolution of Tyrogue for sure. The marvel modular line is awesome but I bet it’s tricky to make very disparate architectural styles and building types all fit together well. What do you hope the next marvel modular is?
@@Danielewa.builds honestly this is kind of a wildcard and not a modular building, but I feel like a large scale Asgard could look stunning?? would probably be expensive asf though if they fill it with gold pieces ahah
I think the X mansion does get way to much hate but what has killed it is 1. The minifigs should be exceptional and more, the bugle had 2.5 times the figs for less initially. 2. The timing is bad and shows the licensing costs in effect because the botanical gardens is a relatively similar set as in same price and modular but has almost 1000 more pieces and looks excellent. But I 100% will still buy the set along with the logo. And of course, hitmontop
My main gripe with the Marvel logo set is definitely the minifigure selection. For what should be a representative of an entire brand, it shows heavy favoritism towards the MCU. While I understand that the MCU is what sky rocketed the brand to where it is today, it should not exclusively be what Marvel is as a whole. If this was the Marvel Studios logo, then that would be justified. But, as mentioned in the video, this logo appears in the corner of COMIC BOOKS, and not just that either; but also games, animation, and merchandise. The minifigures should've represented the different mediums of Marvel. Each one could represent: The MCU, comics, cartoons, and games (not sure what the fifth figure could be). This set should be a celebration of Marvel, but it's more of a celebration of just the movies (and not even the ones outside of the MCU). And yes, I know you could just swap the figures with some comic book ones and easily solve the issue like that. But I feel like that shouldn't take away from the initial intention and choices that were made, not to mention you shouldn't have to do that. I honestly think that's where those 'corporate' comments come from. But outside of the minifigures, I do think the logo is well-structured, and accurately captures the logo's appearance surprisingly well. Good video. 👍
Here's my large contention with the X-Mansion. It was at some point insisted that the build of the set have a modular aspect, and LEGO fans must accept that the X-Mansion follows a strict format. If we MUST accept that, why can we then not critique the way it displays with other modulars? Even regular baseplate modulars make it look vertically challenged. If it hadn't been a modular OR if it had been a modular which broke the back alley rule (Must have the scattered pavement + garbage bin and walkability), it could've been eons better to display on it's own, like a Marvel version of the Home Alone household. Nobody on the face of the planet has ever considered the backside of the mansion to be memorable or iconic. Let's not kid ourselves, Bruce Wayne's parents didn't die there. There's nothing special about it. The mansion would've been much more roomy had it been pushed to the back of the base plate. Also, I don't think that many people would've been disappointed with the omission of the training room. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, any of you who are huge fans of that part of the mansion, but it could've been a separate set with, get this, a new mutant villain. Mindblowing I know. It could've been a set that you bought and displayed on the shelf below the mansion, so as to suggest the spacial connection. A silly, beaurocratic, waste-of-time employee or employees plural believed that the Marvel versions of the modular format live or die based on the presence of a back alley. They need a wake up call. As an owner of the set, the only appeal was certain parts of the build and exclusive figures. It's also a set that I anticipate I would regret not buying. Also, lets remind ourselves that the Daily Bugle was 300$ originally, pre-price bump. If the X-Mansion was sub-300$, I could see a lot more wiggle room. Alas, LEGO takes advantage of the X-Men theme deprivation that lasted practically 10 years and they knew that no matter what they put out, if they did okay on the figures, they could price it however they want. And of course they would do it, because what's the benefit of sorting out multiple intellectual property agreements, manufacturing, and distributing a franchise-based product, if it doesn't have larger profit margins in comparison to their strictly-LEGO themes? They would have to make a product which accounts for the increased costs because of the Disney tax, AND has higher margins, AND the price bump. I don't think they have ALWAYS had such high profit margins. I mean, you have to imagine that they calculated the ratio between forecasted sets bought, and how the price will affect that. They want an an absurdly advantagious margin between price v. forecasted sets bought (or prints/exclusive parts/manufacturing costs/ v. buyers) and this margin will only grow larger. Here's the clearest example. Could anyone concieve of a reality in which a self-professed X-Men lover LEGO set designer proposed a Professor X minifigure that was Lex Luthor? A: They hired the wrong man for the job or B: LEGO decided that despite a 300$ worldwide success set such as the Bugle setting a standard, minifigure quality was an expense that they needed to optimize. What REALLY seems more likely? And worse, if option A is true, did they recieve push-back or criticism and ignore it, anticipating that any backlash will be from people who will inevitably buy the set anyway? OR did they just not consider how astonishly dislikeable a Lex Luthor head and suit torso would be? When I think of the X-Mansion from the words of an abstract Danish toy company exec, I think "Yes this set has major flaws, and AFOLs will be disappointed. But guess what? You're a schlupt die-hard fan of Marvel and it's extensions, and you'll buy this set anyway!" Yes, I am that schupt.
The marvel logo is bad number 1 is the figs . Its need to have more figs i know you can say that about every set but this set repsent marvel comics so it need more heroes and villians. Second its just logo you cant play with and its looks ugly .
