We are using the new ER Shaw match barrel in this video.
We look at 6 different brands of ammo, and select the 3 best for 10 shot group testing.

Following ya since a friend suggested precision rimfire. I hated him but now I'm beginning to think he was right. I think I've been waiting for 22 rifles and ammo to step it up.
Looking at the RPR. I think there is and will be continued support to make this rifle very competive factory rifle. As usual the market in 22 accuracy will continue to grow which is good for us.
I would have put more rounds through the factory barrel before changing it out. Just the slow way I do things and make sure it has reached it's limits but it seems like it was a good move. I'm glad to see you can change it at home to. Not to happy with the headspace though. I'd like to see more info on this... will some/most/all replacement barrels need this done?
I like the way you present your videos. Very accurate and straight to the point. Hard qualities to find these days.

Yes, the headspace issue seems to be common with ER Shaw match bbls on the RPRR.
As for other brands, I have not seen any issues.
Honestly, it was so easy to fix that it wouldn't deter me from getting another, given the accuracy potential.

@@VaMike9 You should do a video on correcting the headspacing. I have an ER Shaw barrel with the same issue that needs corrected.
@@VortexBrM Great idea, my gunsmith has the shims, but I doubt I'll ever change out this bbl again.

What kind of base is the scope mounted so you can shoot 400 yards? 20 MOA? 30 MOA?
30MOA if memory serves me well.
Try some of the federal auto match bulk box in my gun it shoots better then about everything
Fed auto match is usually decent ammo...
SK has been my go to, especially the Long Range as I shoot 22 elr often.
I agree same hole factory barrel love that stuff.

1. Are you bore snaking or shooting fouling shots between ammo types?
2. Are you 100% happy with the shaw barrel?
3. What did you pay for your Shaw if you dont mind me asking? I see the link which I actually just bought from, but wondering if $185 is a good deal and I made the right decision?
4. Do you still plan on doing part 4 with the longer ranges?
Yes, I usually just use a boresnake until it gets too dirty.
$185 is a smoking deal on a Shaw bbl, they run over $250 most places after shipping.
I did have footage of some distance shooting with this bbl, however, had a pc issue that erased it.
I'm currently working on new videos that should come out soon.
Hopefully I can get some SK long range ammo soon to finish them.

Yeah, I thought that rifle was a good one until I got a B14r and then a RimX. Amazing what these rifles can do. Be sure to check out some of my latest videos to see them in action.

What I would like to see is sk long range match compared to the SK rifle match @ distance past 109-142 yards or/and beoynd with that barrel. (and yezz.. get a lead catcher of some sort :P no ricochet and you can recycle ) love your channel

I am not changing the barell out keeping the ruger precision as is I find mine is shooting great at 200 + meters your rifle looks realy nice the barell on your rifle I like very much . I do not shoot match I shoot foxes rabbits freal cats on the farm
The stock configuration is more than adequate for that type of shooting.

So do you feel this barrel is worth the money for the impoverishment compared to the stock barrel?
Simply put, if yours is shooting well I wouldn't change it.
However, if accuracy is a problem the upgrade would be worth the trouble.
I can't say that this bbl is more accurate than some factory ones can shoot, but it was more consistent than my factory bbl was.

Overall your videos are entertaining, and educational.
If I might suggest an improvement. Write out your script. Then look for a way to eliminate a third of the words.
Keep in mind; what, why and results followed with conclusion.
What...barrel change
Why ... Accuracy
Results... Decrease in group size of X%.
Conclusion.... Money and time well spent, or did not see enough improvement to justify...
And see there, I probably used too many words.
It has been a learning experience with TH-cam.
I would much rather shoot than talk in my videos, lol.
Yet, I do appreciate your perspective and am always learning.

Great content.. i built a ruger precision with a timney trigger and a barrel tuner. Shots sub Moa however i haven’t tested at distance yet. Do you have a social media page anywhere else or are you just on TH-cam?

Actually had it ready and my pc erased all the video clips...
My stock barrel groups better than this..you saved me 300 bucks with this video. I'll buy another match barrel other than shaw
I wouldn't say that the Shaw bbl shoots poorly.
With the right ammo it is a tack driver, and also very consistent at distance.
I will hopefully have some new videos showing more of this setups capabilities.

@@VaMike9 like I said though my stock barrel will shoot .25 at 50yd I'd like to see you post videos of 100..if it shoots .50 groups at 100yd like a match barrel should I'd be impressed.
@@ngirardo86 I have seen some accurate barrels, but a .25 5-10shot group is extremely rare in most of the rifles I've shot.
My T1x and B14r are very good but I'm not sure either will shoot 5x5shot groups at .25.
I wouldn't sell that gun, take care.
