    This is my take on the daily vlog concept.
    Everyday I upload a 4 minute vlog, shot 4 minutes after the day before.
    There’s no editing, no re-takes and no music over-dubs and they always finish right on the 4 minute mark, no exceptions.

    I moved from Italy to Canada and I need a step down voltage converter for my TV and a couple of kitchen appliances. Therefore from 220-240V to 110V. Can you confirm this fits my needs? Is It still working ok?

But, I am concerned with and my question is.... Is this little travel converter.... have you had any problems with "Continuous Use"... plug it in and forget it..?? 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week / 52 weeks a year.... have you had any problems...???

    The high pitched sound occurs because you're running a device that runs at 60hz on 50hz if you're curious. For weaker appliances it's usually not an issue. One thing I didn't see in your video or comments is that you need to compare the required wattage of the appliance to the supplied wattage of the converter. These devices aren't magic and when misused are a fire hazard; you're lucky you happened to use it with something mostly compatible. It's a safety concern the way you're recommending it without covering these things.

    • @GivesAMinute
      @GivesAMinute  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jared. I appreciate you stepping in with these tips that I previously did not have any knowledge of. It's interesting that in the documentation shipped with the product there is no mention of what you have said. It also should be noted that I have used the converter along with the Tape2PC for over a year now with zero problem.

      For heavy appliances, ones with motors, or ones that have a heating element (water heaters, heaters, hair dryers, the like), use a step down transformer more heavy duty than the one he uses. What he uses is fine for non-heavy duty appliances, but for anything else (including continuous use) PLEASE use a higher duty step-down transformer that not only does the 240 to 110... but will also have an impact of the 50/60 hz. Otherwise it will, at the minimum just not work, but will more than like immediately burn out any circuits and the motor... and could even catch fire.

    I am desperate to know how I can best achieve this in Australia, so I will not burn up my Hair Styling tools. The tools I have , One is heated and says 110-220 V 50/60Hz 200 Watt (1 minute) then 45Watt steady. IT heats to a certain degree and then holds that temp as you use it. It is a crimper.
    The other is a rotating curler that can use heat or cool and it says 125V 60 Hz 500 W Watt. It is a Conair. I do not wish to haul around a 20 pound device while I am trying to enjoy my trip to Sydney, Cairns and Melbourne but I may have to. I burned up my hair curling device the first day I arrived in Rome with the hotel people plugging in my devices and assuring me they would be fine. All worked well but the Heated curling brush which immediately fried and blew the breaker to the whole floor of the Hotel.

Within 10 mins, the transformer got very hot and started smoking, and the trip switch on my household circuit board shut that circuit down. • @bob_mllr
    @bob_mllr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS VOLTAGE CONVERTER CAN BE LETHAL! The output socket is not isolated from the input mains (it is an autotransformer), and there is provision for a 3 pin plug to plug into it but there is no earth to the mains! This means that non-double insulated appliances can be plugged into this device but not be earthed, with the potential of a lethal electric shock should a fault develop in the appliance, and possibly even if there is no fault because the socket disregards polarity protection for polarised US style plugs on US equipment that that connects mains to the appliance chassis. The best thing you can do with this device is to throw it in the bin and get an approved device. Definitely do not use this device with a 3 pinned (i.e. with an earth pin) device!
