DIY Paludarium How To Update

This video is the life of the paludarium since I built it. Paludariums offer the best of both worlds having a aquarium and land section creating an amazing ecosystem. My original idea was to do this video a little differently. But I ended up having to move it for an upcoming large build in the reptile room. So, I had to tear down parts of the enclosure and reassemble it. I'll go over some of th...

Bro iam sorry, but i dont find any info this tank is enought for a pair right ?
Dude that’s awesome! Love your stuff!
heel mooi maar voor mij veels te ingewikkeld.😢
Hello awesome build. As most comments have stated, I don’t have local access to pvc sheets. How would you go about the build using birch plywood? Thanks!
Iv watch this video over 20 times! 😂 🔥🔥🔥 I figure is watch it enough time I will get the courage to drill my tank...
@Living_Ghetto_fab you got this, just let the weight of the drill do the work, don't rush it. Usually takes me 3-4 minutes to drill through 1/4 inch glass.
amazing!

Have you built an enclosure using foam boards, spray foam, grout, Drylok method? Or have you always used the Zoopoxy??
Yup, I've used those methods too. But for large Varanids, zoopoxy is the only thing that will hold up over time (aside from concrete) check this video out where I used the materials you are talking about. th-cam.com/video/WZ3EYjO_PIQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TBStKrtWvOIjE1SW

It needs some branches to allow for multiple ways to one, access both floors, and two, traverse and enjoy the benefits of arboreal terrain
@y-it-rides6214 agreed, I'm looking forward to updating this build with some large branches. I didn't want to do it right outta the gate. Lettingbhim enjoy and destroy the plants, then put in the branches for enrichment and new things to discover
@bradsbioactivebuilds I forget who I saw do it, but they made vines out of rope, silicone, and coconut fiber. Absolutely beautiful work man, your carpentry is crisp, and I ordered a gallon of the epoxy putty
@y-it-rides6214 check out this video on how I do my vines, I add some 12 gauge wire so I can bend them th-cam.com/video/WZ3EYjO_PIQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_YnNZODqMdIz6tvi Zoopoxy is next level!
Why can’t I find part 2 anywhere?
It's the nest box build, Here is the link th-cam.com/video/mkkL1LBclOY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IS4WARk04OR5RGIa
Great video. Which drylock do you use to paint over the foam?
Drylok Original, don't use the drylok extreme
This is so helpful!! Where do you get your glass?
I get it from a place in IL called right way glass. Just call a local glass shop near you and they can cut to size. Hope this helps
Such an incredible build! Do you think if it matters if you let the silicone cure before applying foam?
On which part exactly?
Thanks so much, this air duct system is incredible and very doable
It is fairly simple. Wish I would have used hot glue instead of silicone to assemble the airduct though
I religiously watching these over and over and over. I’m trying to build an enclosure similar I’ve got my base built but my design is so abstract I’m losing confidence. Is there any software you use?
If I wanted to have a window on the side of it, any ideas?
Don't lose confidence, just keep moving forward. I don't use any software, u just do estimate sketch or what's in my head. I would suggest building a smaller enclosure 1st to get the feel for it then u can build whatever scale after that. If u add a window just frame around it like u would a house window
Hope that helps
@@bradsbioactivebuilds you’re seriously my inspiration. I’ll get it done 🫡. I’ll update you in a month or two
@pmoneysign3416 for sure, make sure to send me a pic on IG when u finish
I’ve watched some of these videos about 4 times each just to look at little intricacies. How many pounds of cork rounds do you think you went through in total for this build and where did you source it? Seems pretty spendy from what I’ve found and then shipping to SoCal is a killer. Also, gonna totally steal the wire in the hose trick. Ingenious!!!
@k9midas1 I believe I ordered 3 or 4 bulk boxes. I also let them know I was trying to build a tree. Message me on IG. I have a wholesaler connect that sells individual pieces at a great rate. You can also pick out your pieces if u let him know what you are looking for. The wire vines work great, and please steal the idea 🤣 Thank for watching! 🤘🦎
can you take off the foam later?
@robeningrideijsbouts-strij6439 I can but after build it I'd rather sell it and get a new tank instead of tear it all down
Awesome 👍

I've just recently got interested in vivarium/paludarium -stuff and have been experimenting with my second-hand large exoterra -terrarium I purchased a few months ago. You are such an inspiration. Albeit being a complete newbie in this scene, I'm quite convinced these are state-of-the-art builds even among professionals. Anyway - that out of the way, I did have a question as well! Does these bioactives need any mainentance beyond maybe water change (just guessing here)? Mainenance such as cleaning once in a while etc. or does bioactivity itself kind of take care of all that? I'm just weighing my options as of how time consuming the maintenance is...also being Director of Operations myself...with family - time is prettttty limited to say the least. Cheers man if you take the time to reply, it's much appreciated! Looking forward to future content!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. There is a 6 part series to this build that breaks down this video in further details. I'm glad you are getting into the hobby. It's definitely a fun one to be a part of. To answer your question, bioactive mainly cleans up after itself with the clean-up crew, but at times, if there is a big 💩 your animal does might as well clean it up if possible. With smaller reptiles and amphibians, it will usually be gone by the am. They also have advantages with mold reduction, etc. Hope this helps
Love this idea! Those look like connectors for RO filter tubing... would be interesting to try.
@@Skyla-Smith thanx and give it a go!
For the top, would a boxed in lid work as well? That way you can just set all your lights on a screen instead of having to drill holes. I know with the fogger system it would require some holes, but if you were to do without the fogger system.
@shanedeacon8275 yeah, whatever you can think of you can build it.
Make a enclosure for a sand monitor
@chaitanyakaushik3871 that's not a bad idea 🤘💯🤘
Love this channel
@mikefitz2124 thank you!
Hey man, I just wanted you’re opinion on the drylok and quikrete method. I don’t know if it’s 100% safe or not I have made a background before with grout and polycrylic for my leopard gecko but he passsed away and don’t think it was the background because he was always skinny and never grew and I want to make another background but I’m worried to
@Kevz1n great question. It is a common method to use drylok original and quikrete. You can also mix in matte acrylic paints to the drylok. Butbif you use quikrete in the drylok you will need to rinse down the enclose till the the bubbly water stops. Then u r good to go
This is soooo awesome!! I would love to try something like this for my ball python. Did you Drylok again after you dry brushed?
Also… did you just use 1 layer of epoxy on the whole thing?
@MJ-lv7xj thank you, definitely a fun build to do and a ball python would love it. For this build I used drylok as a base tone woth quikrete dye (matre acrylic paint would also work) then I used lighter tones to dry brush and then it was done (I did use some highlights of acrylic paints)
@MJ-lv7xj yes, I layer of polygem zoopoxy 307 light. The 1st 2 links in the description are the materials needed.
Unbelievable work. You got me motivated to build my own 5x3x2 bio active enclosure. What is the app/program you use to control everything? I was gonna get the Arcadia Jungle Dawn, a T5 UVB bulb, a deep heat projector, and a mister. I’m looking at getting the Lumenize stuff but was wondering if there’s something that would cover everything as well in one app.
@k9midas1 thanx and I'm glad your gonna build one! I use gove smart plugs to control everything on an app. If u get the lumenize u will use the arcadia app to program the timer settings and a mistking has its own timer. Wish there was a way to tie everything together. The old arcadia product would work with govee smart plugs but won't have tolhe cool ramp up and ramp down effect
Impressive man!
