  • Heres Some video(beginning showing a lill video of the 25cc 6lb? echo 2511t, 12", stock'-sped'up..) quick thrown together about my experience and points of view, tricks, tips, an ways too get a bit more power outta the echo cs355t without major modifications such as porting, squish', big bore kitsch etc..etc.
This Saw is a daily used workhorse, so I like/ need the lill' extra power, as well as reliability. While still retaining its ease of starting, and all the other stuff that you may want too, or need too do, too a saw, without complete void of warranty an making it impractical..yet gain a good 15-25% more power, an overall positive performance..
And still be able too use it residentially, an also everyday.. from a extra ground saw, too bucket/climbing saw...
And my plain opinion unbiased by a arborist, everyday tree guy..
This is after saw is goin into its 3rd year/season of use. With it starting too act, unpredictability, as well as underpowered, considering its cc, weight etc.
I Will make more, edited, shorter, better comparison..vs other saw videos in its class.
Also better detailed videos much as I can. With bothe NEW, Used. Even basic"mild-sport" 'tweaked, tuned' tree guy mod(I will mostly just do moderate-mild, Air,fuel, flow improvements.. too rebuilds, older saws, etc...
    that are used daily.
.still,*caution* must be takin, dont!!:ASSUME ANY & EVERYTHING!
I DO, you could end up making a good saw, etc.. into a boat anchor..
The saws, tools, equipment, etc. HAS, and will be ongoing with content.. Also, they are in use, sometimes 40+ hours a wee.. As in case with almost all my stuff used by a usually display, an disarray of a moderate size 3-6,7x guy tree crew..

So, thanks, check in, say hello ask questions, requests etc like and subscribe..
Im working with a phone, old camera, an windows7, while I'll build this channel up with related content., an other fun content with my true, honest, humble, experiences. while trying to help others out there. I'll ask, If you can spare a few cents, anything.. feel free too donate to me.. thank you, God be with us. Over & Out..

Great content man!! Re that plastic piece you removed from your carb's intake area, that may / probably is why your unit isn't running optimal, that's a carb spitback plate, almost all saws have some form of protection for this, their "choke-up" capacity varies the 355t's is "normal enough" IME but if you remove it w/o replacing it w/ something else you will get better performance right away, but VERY quickly your 355t's fabric filter will get oil-soaked and the saw will be choked and under-perform, if you get that HUGE porosity filter media (the type you're supposed to oil before use, like a lawnmower filter) you can cut it to fit and replace most carb-spitback-setups, and it gives almost as much flow as no-spitback-plate while letting you just ditch it for a new chunk of filter when it gets too oily, wish I could attach pics here to show you how they look as they age it is very visible & immediately discernible when you need to cut a new wad of filter to jam-in, you'll see it doing a filter-cleaning and the "overhaed" of maintaining this type of setup is basically nil because you just replace it every 2-3 times you clean your air-filter!
Oh and 355t V a 193t...yeah if the 193 won, it's because the 355t wasn't muff-modded yet, echo's are super choked-out (and re filters they're getting better, @MWEBA1 considers the 7310's the best system made, and I'll say that IME they don't let fines in any *worse* than stihl or husqy, ALL brands need grease and o-rings if you want full seal!)

Thanks for comment. I agree. All i gotta say, is The 355t is still going.... its a backup saw now, and or stays by chipper.. But after 4-5?ish' years its one of the only top-handle saws still going on the crew. The rest are gone. lol.
For climbing or bucket work, its not my favorite, especially after a couple hours holding, But its comes in at 1st for reliability, longevity, overall tool for the job-for a tree guy.. especially after i opened up the air flow and tuned it.. It still starts as easy also. As for the 193, there not bad for a stihl, for the price.. But echos new 2511t is best outta all for up in the tree imo.

This saws been on or in our trucks for almost 5 years now. And its been used almost daily, heck used it today... And anyone and everyone who works with us, always is able too start it within 3-4 pulls..
still runs same since i did the plastic removal, mild muff mod, and tuned hi/lo.. Its the only top-handle ive ever had last this long..

That "cold weather" thing you were talking about is a spit-back plate, it keeps the spat gas from soaking the air filter!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on "How to maximize a 355t, w/o a fabrictaion shop" / "at home porter style", I've done serious portings on my 590 and my clone 660's but my climbsaws are so small they scare me... but watching some of your vids, and reading your summaries here, you're putting words to somethning I've been thinking/realizing the past couple weeks-- my thinking of "Good thing I have my 355t on the ground for when-needed" is going to quickly become irrelevant as my 2511t's HP approaches the 355t.....so if I don't go and hop up my 355t it will *never* get use, I want it to move its 18" setup the way my 2511t pushes its 12" (may move it down to a 10"....here in coastal FL we don't have big wood!!)

I usually just grab a dremel, all kinds of brushes, and wheels.. A Few of the small less aggressive BURR' removal ones, too get in corners.. usualy dont take as much material out as other guys do. I like tooo pretty much just clean the ports up, open'm up a tad towareds the outsides. sometimes i change the size or shape depending.... And beilive it or not, you dont have-to- or want too polish' it too a mirror finish/. Leave it a bit ruff'..
Or just plain metal. Hit it with like 80grtt or equal too, and leave it. I think leaving them a bit ruff' actually helps the air and fuel and exhaust create a turbulance, or swirl.
Theres a few guys on here that explain porting well.. I usually dont mess with timing either. or the squish'.. Not on my work horses.. Tho some saws do like the cyl' base gasket removed.. I honestly never have time topo get a saw that far apart, since its working everyday.
I like too just get my saws running a bit better, snappy, tuned, and then leavm..
Usually, I just clean up exhaust port, make sure mufflers flowing well as it can while still keeping a bit of back pressure, an some of the sound down.. and sometimes i dont even touch the intake with a dremel...
Just make sure its gettin as much flow in and out without major mod..
BUT im cutting everyday, all day, and in residential areas.. so I like my saws too start easy, run well, and a little tweek and tune def' does not hurtm..
      there no hot-saws..
I have a cpl saws i ported, time'd, removed base gasket, -I use specific for making "cookies" with on weekends.. But I dont take them too work too often because they just wouldnt last.. I could see someone using my ported and piped 385' with a dull chain, and itd be burned up after 4 big stumps lol..

yea up here in northeast, we get some big hardwood limbs.. ive found the 12" on the 2511t too be rite in area of perfect power, per amount of bar too reach threw bigger limbs, and or tops.. I love the 1/4" pitch conversion for hardwoods.. But they dont like the sapwood, white pines, pitch pines as much.. so i went back too 3/8"lp for now..
with just the exhaust port side cleaned up with a dremmel, no material removed hardly, and a 1/4"ish' hole drilled in muffler direct inline w/ exhaust port.. Then just remove the limiter caps, on HI and adjust it after its warmed up.. sometimes gotta tweek LO, and or idle, accordingly, deppending on time of year, temps, etc.. But not often.. tune it and the 2511's are beastly little saws..
I was running 16" on 355t, went down too a 14'', but now it just stays on ground for a limbing saw.. and same with that, just cleaned up exhaust port with wire brushes from a dremmel kit.. drilled muff out a bit.. removed that plastic "restrictor-baffle" that has its reasons on paper/ but since removed, the 355t is only small saw.. I got thats 5 years OLD on truck, that still starts and runs same all time.. lol
