Thank you in advance if you take the time out of your day to read all of this and reply 🙏🏼❤️ This is related to another video you did, but I wanted to see if I could get your expertiese asap before I start spending money willy-nilly because that video was the only one that went into more detail than most, showcasing the issue audibly as well. I wanna be able to learn from this so I can help other people with the same issue since I don't see as much coverage on it, especially with the pro and slim being out now This is about the PS5 no longer reading discs. I've yet to find a solution. Just yesterday, a utility company thought the electric bill for my home wasn't paid for, when it was actually paid for in advance, and shut it off. My PS5 was in sleep mode, the one time I didn't fully turn it off funny enough. Once the company turned everything back on shortly after because of their own error, I made sure everything that was on or in sleep, like my pc and game systems, were still functioning. Everything was fine, it gave the warning about it being turned off improperly, but then my PS5 disc drive started making the EXACT same sound you showcased in that TH-cam short. The starting, the repeated stopping, and then the eject sound, everything, like its struggling or something. The disc that was in there has been there for months at this point, and it was NOT making that sound the night before shit hit the fan, and I even played it a few days prior. I've always taken care of my stuff, NONE of my discs are dirty, I insert them the right way, and I'm never ever really switching anything out on the regular. When I buy a physical game, I just sit with that one until I beat it whilst I bounce between the free ps+ games and the very few I've bought digitally. And since I take care of my stuff, it outruled a lot of factors, but I tried all my other ps4/5 discs, and even dvd/Blu-ray movies that have worked before. Still the same sounds and error. Even a few of the games I have on disc I haven't really touched, but let them install for when I get to them, so there shouldn't have been an issue. I got this PS5 back in Oct of 2021 when it was still hard to get them, so it's a few years old, but I'm not sure if that matters much. Wasn't a part of an infamous bundle or anything. But after trying to soft reset, rebuild database, clear cache, install the latest update, everything but factory reset options, all from safe mode, still nothing worked. And being worried it's a hardware issue, I took it apart to look at things myself. Everything seemed fine from my perspective, nothing was dirty, I gave it a good cleaning for the first time a few months ago, and even then, it wasn't so bad despite having some age. No board components that I could see seemed burned out, the mechanical parts in the disc drive all seemed fine. I tried everything all over again after putting it back together, and still no dice. I even tried to flip the discs around to see if it just couldn't tell if a disc was in it, but it seemed like the laser worked enough to be able to tell it wasn't facing the right way. Now my only options are to: 1. Buy a new refurbished PS5 for like 300-400 2. Factory reset and hope for the best (I have a usb on the way to backup everything important that isn't already on the cloud) 3. Buy parts for a replacement, however much that'd be, and also still hope for the best. I'm just at a loss because everything was just fine before. Electric getting turned off wouldn't be the same as a power surge during a storm, I don't think, yet in a few places, like on reddit, a handful of people ARE having the exact same issue, BUT they are experiencing it because of a power outage during a storm. Now, it's difficult to discern this problem between a hardware or software issue. What do you think I should do though?
Thank you for the video. I have a CECHB01 system. My drive was just like the one shown. I followed your procedure to clean my laser and my PS/3 still can read and play PS/3 games but cannot read PS/2 games or play DVDs anymore. (I did get to have PS/2 games work for a while this weekend after I did a system restore to defaults but it stopped working again). Does this mean that my laser is bad and I need to follow the procedure here to replace it? Are there two lasers in the laser unit, one for PS/2 games (red) and one for PS/3 games (bluray), and therefore my red laser is dying or is dead ?
@@fasttechvideo Thanks for responding so quickly. But since I did not expect that I edited my original question so you might not have seen my edits. Does the CECHB01 system bluray drive have two lasers in one of sorts, a red one for PS/2 games and a bluray (blue) laser for the PS/3 games and playing bluray movies? For me, bluray functions are fine. However, for some odd reason, when I did a system restore to defaults this past weekend, I was able to play PS/2 games for a while. Now it is not working again. Is this a red laser going bad ? I did the restore twice and each time I got PS/2 games working for a while. Really odd. Not sure why the restore gives me the functionality for a while.
@@fasttechvideo well I'm facing a problem. I bought a PS3 last month and tonight I attempted to clean it. I disassemble the majority of it and like an idiot once I took the lid off I turned the PS3 over a trash can to drop any remaining dust and incidentally I dropped the disc reader in the trash can and it disconnected from a strip that connected to another part of the ps3 and I have no idea how to reattach that part
@@AngelEmbertson-le2gp youve broken the disc drive ribbon cable clip which can be put back in place. Put the cable in first then insert the clip from the top.
@@fasttechvideo okay I imagine I can fix it then but it requires even more disassembly. My PS3 model seems to be much different from the ones I've seen on different videos

Replace the laser and it will fix your problem. A power outage can cause the laser to go
Pretty easy to follow with the level of detail
