1. Land Ownership and Title Documentation
Before starting the building approval process in Lagos, ensure you have a clear and verified ownership of the land. A genuine land title document - like a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), Deed of Assignment, or Governor's Consent - is a mandatory requirement. Without it, the approval process cannot proceed.
2. Architectural and Engineering Designs
Once land ownership is confirmed, the next step is to engage the services of a registered architect and structural engineer. They will be responsible for creating detailed architectural and engineering designs that adhere to the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning Law. These designs must also comply with zoning regulations, building codes, and other relevant standards.
