      De-rated engine thrust results in a longer roll, no need to max out the power if you have the runway length. Saves wear and tear on engines reducing maintenance costs and intervals and reduces fuel burn and noise.

    • @STDrepository
      @STDrepository 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its not like it matters the plane basically controls itself. Pilots are just a redundant backup system nowadays. They don't even guide the plane in to land anymore, they just control the throttles and pull it back when the wheels touch.

    • @jayck692
      @jayck692 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@STDrepository err, as a pilot I can confirm that that's entirely not the case.

    • @STDrepository
      @STDrepository 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayck692 LOL.. really? So you are telling me that Boeing and Airbus don't both have fully automatic landing systems in their newer models?

    • @jayck692
      @jayck692 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@STDrepository Oh no no, they DO have automatic landing systems which can be used on a runway only if it's fitted with an ILS and only during reasonably light wind conditions. We'll use that in the case of fog when we can't see where we are flying. More than 99% of the time the landing is manually flown, and if the wind is up it HAS to be manually flown as the autoland isn't certified/capable for use in high wind conditions. Believe it or not the autoland feels kind of temperamental and monitoring it is a bit of a pain. Forgive me if I'm wrong but your point was that the plane guides itself and the pilots are redundant waiting simply to take over in the case of a failure. That's definitely not the case. Even if the landing is automatic that doesn't mean the pilots don't use the autopilot modes to fly the plane onto the approach, which is a skill that needs to be highly developed in and of itself (think of it like programming the aircraft to fly what you'd like it to rather than being tactiley connected to the controls). And if there's no ILS available, you can forget an automatic landing as there would be nothing on the runway to which the plane can reference its position. The plane would not take you from a to b without constant pilot input, be it via a yoke, a sidestick, or by twidling dials on the dashboard which tell the automation exactly what you want from it.

    • @Hk-uw8my
      @Hk-uw8my 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@STDrepositoryonly the lazy fsx/p3d/xplane arm chair pilots uses cat 3 autoland everytimes with a clear day because they dont know how to fly and they dont want to know,otherwise you dont have to compare these people with real pilots this is not the same ,computer is computer,real life is real life

    That cockpit looks awesome. But the bang-bang-bang of the nose-gear on the runway's central lights are really annoying to watch. I can imagine as a pilot they must be really annoying too. Or perhaps they've got more important things on your mind during take-off, and so don't really notice them. So this is a question to pilots, proper pilots, that is, and not to the many Walter Mittys out there!!! Do any of you deliberately avoid the lights and steer slightly off-centre for a smoother ride? Or is that a major no-no? I know I would!

      BollocksUtwat you gave to keep in mind that London has one of the busiest airspaces. They probably had to talk to ATC, monitor other aircraft etc. Not much room to handfly

    • @douglasnisbet1189
      @douglasnisbet1189 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nonsense. There is nothing special about departing or arriving into any London airport. There is no special terrain, very rarely any significant weather and the controllers are extremely efficient. Hand flying should never be an issue for a pilot. Any pilot worth the paper his licence is printed on should be able to hand fly raw-data without breaking a sweat into any airport.

    • @jayck692
      @jayck692 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Douglas Nisbet, Of course Pilots can handfly, but the point of our job is to take the aircraft as safely as possible from A to B, so on certain departures in certain conditions it’s best to keep your situational awareness as high as possible, which means using the automation to take a load off. We call it capacity, hand flying uses capacity which leaves less capacity for everything else. The London TMA is the busiest airspace in the world and they’re very strict about adhering to exact prescribed the flight path. Even with the autopilot engaged the pilot flying is still busy programming the aircraft, and the pilot monitoring is very busy on the radio and doing their after take off scans. All in all it’s not a place you want to be trying to prove that you’re a god pilot.

    예수는 십자가에 피흘려 죽으시고 부활하셔서 그대의 죄와 사탄과 지옥 문제를 해결하셨습니다. 예수가 그대의 운명과 재앙과 미래
    문제를 해결하셨습니다. 그대가 예수를 믿으면 하나님의 자녀가 되며 천국의 모든 축복을 받아 누리게 됩니다. 예수를 믿고 영접하세요.
