I mis worded something for those that care, I'm aware that you can use the Home Button to turn the switch on and off. But that's only in and out of sleep mode, so that doesn't really count. I should've clarified that! Regardless I hope you enjoyed the video :)

But sleep is just as good if not better because you can pick up right where you left off. Unless your switch is about to die its basically save states

I have a Wii U and I still honestly really love it. I never had issues with the gamepad besides the B button being kinda unresponsive. I love this console and I'm gonna be sad when they take the internet off it..
i found out about the wii u last year and got it on christmas. i never regret asking for it. it has my favorite games of all time and i'm glad it exist

honestly I've never had a issue with my Wii U gamepad. got so much use the rough texture on the back is baby smooth and it still works perfectly

This is a real story: when I was like 3 years old I used to have a Nintendo Wii and everyday after school I would play New Super Mario Bros Wii with my grandfather. Then it got lost though I found it in a backpack later on in my life, but ever since then I've been using a Wii u.

All the Wii U ports remind me of how much I loved the system. It was definitely flawed but there was some damn good fun and entertainment to come out of that system.

IMO, the Wii U itself wasn’t necessarily a bad console. It was just handled really poorly by Nintendo. Yeah, the loading sucked, and there wasn’t enough third party support, but it was nowhere near Virtual-Boy-bad. I have a lot of fun memories playing it before I got my Switch.
Also it’s titles were terrible

I relate to this tons.
I unironically still play my Wii U to this day, over 7 years since I first got it. For me, it will always be my favourite console because of the memories I made with it - Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo Land are games that I played all the time with my friends. And, of course, a Virtual Console that you could get lost in for hours on end. It all holds a special place in my heart.

Switch is still in the middle of its lifespan, so it's going to be a very long time until the internet for the Switch finally shuts down.

The Wii U is a great emulation machine too. This is how I look at it, it's a beefed up Wii that plays Wii U, Wii, Gamecube, N64, Snes, Nes, and gameboy games. I've been using mine recently to play a lot of the gamecube games. It's stupid awesome how much you can do with it.

the wii u is so under appreciated. it gave us so many great games (like the majority of its games are switch games) and it just feels like a console that brings family together. i have so many great memories with the wii u, and i still use it to this day.

You can turn off the switch with the controller, just hold down the home button even when the TV off
The home button on the switch is the off button works even when the switch is in the dock.

Yeah I loved the fact you could turn the Wii/Wii U on and off just by pressing the power button on the Wii Remote/Gamepad.
At least the Switch can be turned on with the Home button, but to turn it off we can only select sleep mode from the home menu.
But turning it off fully, I actually have to move to the Switch to turn it off!

IT CAN?! Well I mean to be fair(or in my defense) the Wii had a dedicated button layout where you look at it and say “oh, I can turn it off” while the switch it’s more like a command you need to know.

I miss the Wii / Wii U era of Nintendo. They felt more like a group of people who loved to create and play video games rather than a company.
I love both of these consoles ‘cause they, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this, literally made my childhood. When I was really young, my brother had a Wii and I played that to death. I mostly played Brawl, Sonic Colors, Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, and getting stuck in the final dungeon of Twilight Princess. I was about 6 when I got my WiiU, and I played the death out of it, too. Mario 3D world was my favorite, but I also got to play a Virtual Console for Ocarina of Time. So that was fun!

The WiiU didn't have a Wii emulator. It literally just the Wii OS, as the WiiU used the same architecture as the wii, just higher clock speeds and more ram. The same goes for Wii playing GameCube games. That's why the system has to reboot when you enter Wii mode.
The Wii was my childhood, I had plenty of memories from all the times I got a handful of games, and played this tons of times with my friends and family members!
I like to think that there's an alternate universe where the Wii U sold around the same as the 3DS and didn't end up being a commercial failure
I remember my first Wii U chat call. I tried calling others before, but this was the only time it actually worked. We only drew on the screen to send messages, but when my friend found out I had Super Mario Maker, we actually spoke a bit. The conversation would’ve gone on for possibly hours if I didn’t have to go eat breakfast.

I really love the motion controls ! It feels slightly immersive and so easy to get used to but maybe thats just a me thing.
The fact that the Wii and Wii U can play Call of Duty games (CoD 3, World At War, Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition, Black Ops 1, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2 & Ghosts) astonished me so much to have one laying down my collection.

Sleep Mode IS NOT the same as turning the console off, I don’t know why there is so many comments of that, heck even Bandy himself clarified that, If the switch is off, All games and Apps are closed. In sleep mode they are suspended.

I remember when my mom showed me that she got super mario world on the wii, and that it was the game she grew up on. I played it, and it's still one of my favorite games of all time, thanks mom😁! We also got Mario 1 and 3 on there as well.

I have a strong nostalgic feeling for the Wii in a way. My Nintendo career was actually over in 1997 when I started gaming only on the PC. I never had an N64 or a Game Cube. It wasn't until 2008 that I got a Wii and it was kind of exciting and new to me and kind of cool to experience Mario in 3D. And also other games like Pikmin, Monster Hunter, the Fifa series or old NES/SNES games. I bought the Wii U only recently. And it's not quite setting up the superior feeling of the Wii yet. The Wii had also opened up the world of the Game Cube to me thanks to its backwards compatibility. It's a shame that you can't play Game Cube games on the Wii U. That's such a setback for me which is why the Wii will probably always stand above the Wii U for me.
