    Rucking turns into a very good workout with decent weight and good pace. I normally use 25 kg on back so no need to travel wholle day outdoos. If you then walk with good pace you get a workout similar as running without the high impact. You cqn use clothes with weight so the weight distributes better without discomfort. Any weight is good with that method.

      That's absolutely true. That also carries over for general backpacking better.

    Thanks for this, bro. I'll be doing the remote march this Friday as my first one. Hope I don't scare the neighbors too much!

      Sounds good! What kind of distance where you planning?

    What a funny coincidence. I was just testing my pack load and decided to use a pair of plates like this but steel. The test went alright but one thing I did find is that it trapped the heat coming off my back so when I got up to pace after about 5 kilometers it was getting pretty toasty back there. Might have to have a rethink before friday.
    I found that on the AMP72 the intermediate compartment can fit 2 plates bottom to bottom pretty perfectly and got my weight right where I needed it so I'm still hoping to make it work.

      Good point about the heat, I had not thought about that. But I can see it being an issue especially with steel plates. Will have to see how these things work this weekend.

    Cool prep info, I’ll be participating in the Varusteleka remote military march this year as well. What category do you intend to go with this time?

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've done civilian 50km so far, but due to scheduling constraints I'm probably doing just ~30km this Friday evening. However, I'm planning on doing it in the military division, as this is the first time I have full BDU available.

    • @Flo_
      @Flo_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Got it, sounds like a plan. I’d like to do the military division 25km but not sure if I can wear that in public as a non-Finnish civilian. Unfortunately the internet has left me without answer so it might be the civilian one for me.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Flo_ Without any military insignia or badges that you can earn from military service, any BDU is perfectly ok to wear as per puolustusvoimat.fi/documents/1948673/2258811/PELOGOS-AM23936_Ohje_Maastopuvun+M05+RES+k%C3%A4ytt%C3%B6/e625d8ca-8503-40d8-897f-fd6df4a20e75/PELOGOS-AM23936_Ohje_Maastopuvun+M05+RES+k%C3%A4ytt%C3%B6.pdf
      "Ilman merkkejä ja tunnuksia maastopuku on pelkkä suojavaatetus. Käytettäessä pukua suojavaatetuksena vapaa-ajan toiminnoissa (esimerkiksi erä- ja metsästysharrastuksissa) on PV:n merkkien ja tunnusten käyttö puvussa kielletty"
      In short, it's a military uniform only when it has the proper military identifications, such as rank badges and so forth, attached. I'd imagine the rules are the same for other nationalities and uniforms too.

    Now I realized that my old Rush 24 can be compatible with the new belt kit (previously I just remembered the compatibility with the newer 2.0 variant from the website but now I checked it), cool! They released the new (5.11) "Skyweight Survival Chest Pack" also, will you review it maybe (with comparison to your HPG chest pack)?

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just saw the new Skyweight collection yesterday as well. The backpacks looked great, the chest bags however seemed a bit on the small side at least in pictures. When we get those in Finland I think I'll ask 5.11 if they'd be interested to give me some for review.

    • @Kobalta
      @Kobalta ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaivalOutdoors Thank you, yes it seems smaller but probably more available (in the EU) than the HPG, the ventilation can be different also and it have larger front PALS section which is missing from the other popular one, the Helikon-Tex Numbat.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kobalta That's right. However, I prefer to keep my stuff inside my kitbag and the external MOLLE/PALS isn't a requirement for me. HPG Recon Kit Bags have that feature as well.

      @Kobalta ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaivalOutdoors Yes the HPG Recons are good just quite hard to get currently in Europe (I checked a few weeks ago and as I remember it wasn't available neither in the EU shop nor even at the HPG)
