    Thank so much! This Enterlac pattern teaches me something I didn't know how to do bfor with surity. I'm self-taught and Was Naive enough to think that I had made up a few things but they are as old as time somebody figured it out long before me of course. How silly of me... But then again, I did say "self thought". I had a book in 5th grade and learnt 2 stitches (sc,dc), met a few senile old gals in a nursing home who could remember to do a couple of different things on autopilot which helped me in bits and pieces, how to turn and go back the other way on the chain I knew how to make.
    Didn't ever know how to make a project or read a pattern or anything.Believe it or not, I learned how to Granny Square from a guy who used to make bikinis so he could "get chicks" in the '70s. Then, twenty years from the fifth grade, I was hooked on Grannys. From my own invention, I haven't seen or heard anyone doing it this way, doing the starting rows of a rectangle granny square blanket in a unique way, I won a Blue Ribbon at North Texas State Fair and Rodeo in the Art Exhibition Hall with my entry.

    I don't know how I missed this one when it came out. Maybe I thought it was made of squares you need to sew together. This is genius Anja!!! I've done numerous C2C blankets, so the concept makes perfect sense and easy to understand, but making it from complete squares, is fantastic! Thank you!

    If you make a gingham-like look with this pattern, I recommend starting with the first square in the dark color tone. Then make the all light color tone diagonal row. Then make the dark and white blocks diagonal row. Follow with the all light tone diagonal row, and so on. It is a two row repeat of
    * Dark tone and white squares diagonal row
    * All light tone squares diagonal row

    Very clever blocks and very clear instructions. Is there a color chart for us to follow please??🧡

    • @kayceegreer4418
      @kayceegreer4418 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shop for your colors and do what you want; apply them randomly as she did just avoid getting too many colors or similar colors in one area too close together, as with any good-looking Patchwork Quilt, you want balance of color, so spread them out or choose to make a two-color diagonal stripe. The first Corner block is your first row. Let your second row be a different color all the way across and so on. The video is your color chart watch it as many times as you need to and you can always go into your settings and change the playback speed to go slower to watch every single thing and to catch every single word.
      .... plan your squares to make a two color weave, since the blocks are done the way they are, the whole blanket kind of looks like a weave anyway, if you just used two colors it would look like a basket weave. Make all of your horizontal blocks one color and all your vertical be another complementing color. Maybe doing it in one color would increase the look of the blocks being woven in and out of one another, as though each were long ribbons of some holey fabric strip. If you choose just the right color monochromatic might be more dramatic than multiple colors.

    I noticed if you flipped your work in the other direction, your yarn would not lay across, over, or otherwise, wrap 'round the last stitch you made when you joined to the other block. I never twist mine that way. It's one of the first no-noes that ever learned, to keep your work looking clean and smooth at the point of turn... yes, the literal Turning Point.
    Try it. You'll see what I mean. Besides which, aren't we told at the get-go of crocheting to keep our yarn behind our work? This does that. It keeps edges smoother and in this case, joining these squares smoother.

    Hi, do you mind making a left-handed version of this video? I think I could learn it that way thanks.

    What a beautiful blanket. Without watching it looks like a lot of piecing together, but here I go to watch the video. This could be a future project in the works. Back after watching. Sounds fun, not in strips, next project on the agenda. This seems similar to a C2C project.
    Thank you.

    Now I'm left handed so when I start my next square I'm always on your opposite. Is that right.

      Hi Marina, this is corner to corner and they are made as you go so you can make this as big as you like. Have a good look at the tutorial

    I love this pattern so much that I think I have become addicted to it. It has many possibilities of color combinations and it works up fast. The final result is always a beautiful, cozy blanket. You can make it changing colors every square or you can change colors every row instead. You can do a gingham-like effectusing dark and light tones of one color mixed with a white or off-white, alternating two diagonal rows: one diagonal row of all squares of the light tone color, the second diagonal row of the dark tone squares alternating with the white squares, a two-row repeat. You can also create a checkered effect by using two contrasting colors, alternating one diagonal row with one color and another diagonal row with the other color - a two-row repeat. Or it can be worlked also with a self-stripping colorful yarn, of long stripes, that will automatically form squares of blending or contrasting colors.

      You can do it Connie! Watch the video a couple of times, try slowing it down maybe, try with some scrap yarn first, I promise, it really is much easier than it looks, Anja x

    Ive started this done a few rows then measured it against my king bed and worked out that i need 30 squares width by 34 squares length which means i have to do 1088 squares total 😬

    • @OpheliaTalks
      @OpheliaTalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a lot of squares, but you can do it, enjoy the journey, and crochet time, Anja x
