Wow, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video! I was thinking about getting one of these, and I had no idea how labor intensive it was to set them up, even if I'm not setting up the utilities. This doesn't really look like something I'd want to do every night if I were travelling a long distance.
As a newbie to camping and having a Rockwood, 2008 pop up, I really, really enjoyed and profited from this video. Glad to have found it. Keep up the informative posts. Many thanks.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Draven Zachariah thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks just bought a 1991 skamper pop up in excellent condition . I found two pieces of metal under the bench pads and had no idea where the went . Due to your video I realized they were the safety supports in the case the hoist cable breaks.
I was walking around my neighbourhood and for years always saw these campers. No idea what they were called or what they look when opened. So cool glad I decided to Google it now.
Mine is Hard Top A-Frame Trailer and pretty new design unit, I couldn't find any related video to teach me how to use it, but this one is more close to what I need to know. Informative and thanks a lot!! :-)
Olá amigo ! Sou do do Brasil e vc foi o escritório de número 300 , ainda estamos iniciando no TH-cam, e vim aqui agradecer, Deus abençoe, vc é brasileiro?
Definitely should NOT use a lighter to light the stove. Use a wooden match - they won't blow up, and you don't have to get your fingers nearly as close so less worries about burning your fingers.
Nah... After you get the hang of it, you can set up a popup by yourself in less than 10 minutes. There are two-person teams that can have one setup in 2.5 minutes! It seems like a lot to do, but it's all in the procedure and method.
I'd set up our family's my own self in more like five minutes at around ten years of age, decades ago. But was bigger than average. I was, I mean. Hadn't thought of those campers in many years. Tent Trailer was the commonly-used term back then. Had never heard the words Popup, Folding Camper, Tent Camper used for them until saw this post. They were much more commonly seen, used back then. Their construction, setup were much more simple then. Unlatch latches on outside of each end, which secured square metal top to square metal bottom during travel, pull/slide ends of beds outward, up went the metal roof on the ends of metal pipes/rods which unfolded, straightened up as beds were pulled out. No cranking involved. Heavy canvas attached to those, other folding, unfolding metal rods, pipes covered sides, ends, rest of ceiling area of trailer when set up for occupancy. Air conditioning, heating were concepts from The Future. Zero privacy for any family member on inside. Still, when was a child, was pleasant enough vacation living when frozen tundra west of Boston thawed for summer, could drive to, set up near, a pleasant lake or ocean area to east or south, camp out there for two weeks, swim, tan - as mother, I, sisters always wanted to do. Father, though, would often have us on some version of Mao's Long March/Cherokee's Trail Of Tears, traveling to, through frozen Vermont, New Hampshire/Maine/Maritime Provences of Canada, where needed ski jackets at night in July, August, ocean water was shockingly cold first minutes immersed in it. Get up early morning, fold up trailer, attach it to station wagon, drive all day until early evening, rent camp space in camp ground, set up trailer, go to sleep, get up early next day, repeat for two weeks. Father had suffered from untreated hyperactivity from childhood, they guessed long after. Such people were just considered to be extra annoying/exhausting before there was a word, treatment for it. I bailed out for CA, where no one knew what 90+% humidity accompanied by clouds of biting mosquitos, black flies, gnats, no-see-ums (microscopic biting flying insects) were, not to mention deer ticks, almost ASAP, stayed there for decades.
Pop-Ups are a huge pain in the ass, I used to have an old single-piece-roof Coleman and it was a piece of shit and impossible to set up. If you can afford to get one look at hybrid trailers. They have soft sided fold outs for the bed and a traditional RV body. Have a Jayco X23B now and it is just a totally different experience using it.
Many popups like my Viking have simplified the setup process. I use a 20v drill to raise the roof and crank down/up the stabilizers, and there are no bars under each bed bunk. Those help quite a bit.
I'm most of these videos they don't show setting the door in place. That's the hardest part. If the camper isn't 100 perfect perfectly level it won't line up.
Very true. The leveling has to be spot on, and the roof must be fully up (green cable taut). Good things to check if the door or "canvas" doesn't quite seal.
Any Forest River dealer should be able to order it for you if it's still available. They'd need your VIN, year, and model number of your camper to look that up for you. Feel free to give us a call at 812-867-5200 and we can look into it for you.
@MYWHIT3BOY Glad to hear that it helped you! Check back often for updates or check out our fan page on Facebook. Just search Basden's American RV Center. Thanks again and happy camping!
Question: Can a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with the 4 Cylinder 159 hp engine pull something like this easily? It also has a 5 speed manual tranny as well...(would it need a transmission cooler?) I always wondered if my Tacoma could pull one of these without destroying it.
Only issue with a popup camper is that Yellowstone and other parks that have alot of bears will not let you stay in the park with them. Considered unsafe.
True. Since I live in GA, my camper will be either local or just within a couple of states. If we go out west, we'll probably rent a Class C or stay in a cabin.
I really enjoyed your video it looks like you have a wonderful product here but what's missing is a woman's view of things you mentioned that there's a hot water heater but is there a shower is there a way to bathe I didn't get to see the full inside of the trailer from side to side and curious about what the weight limits are on each bed and so I think to improve your video you should ask a woman to watch it and ask her what she would like to see because I would like to see so much more as a female then you have shown me here I guess I will just have to find a dealership in my area and go and ask them firsthand but it would have been really nice since you are doing such a beautiful recording the show us all of the amenities
After watching this video I no longer what a pop up camper! Wow you would think it would be less work than a tent but it’s not. What a joke! No wonder people just buy an RV!

@Draven Zachariah it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!

I just bought one of these today July 3 2020 and we can’t wait for camping!! It’s going to be so much fun!!! 🙂🙂😉😉😌😌🙃
I'm looking into one currently. Do you have any regrets?
I was walking around my neighbourhood and for years always saw these campers. No idea what they were called or what they look when opened. So cool glad I decided to Google it now.

Always wondered how these campers worked! Thanks!
💥 9:19 Don’t forget that jack support in the back. 🤟🏼

I had one of these! Made for fun family camping trips.
Just got my starter pop up today! This is very helpful!
Wow...What a complete camper trailer tent!
I'm exhausted just listening to the instructions.
I thought I wanted one until I realized how much time and effort it goes into one. I guess I’ll just stay at hotels 🤷🏻♂️

I can’t figure out my 2002 Bonnie ohzone awning. Any videos on that?

WTF??..😳😳
Those latches, that hold the top down, I worked at a place that powdercoated those latches, I must have done a million of them.
Picking up our new Rockwood this Tuesday. Looks easy enough to setup.
My sister sets hers up in 10 minutes. And if she moved any slower she woulld be going backwards.

Is it really safe using natural gas on these campers?

I always wondered if my Tacoma could pull one of these without destroying it.
Trans cooler is for automatic transmission.
Can you get a pop up with a restroom?
There are popup floorplans available with a restroom, however they do tend to be quite small.
One day, I'll have one of these...
i have tent trailer with odd plug on roof side.whats it for? i dont have AC. skamper 1988 240c 12ft i looked online for manuals but no luck.
It's probably prepped for air conditioning. Can't think of anything else it would be.
For anyone wondering you can pull one of these with a smaller truck. I pulled one of these with my 99 tacoma with no problem as would a ford ranger
I pull mine with a Rav4.
@@brianhanlon9602 That’s good to know I have a RAV4 and the weight on it only says 1500 pounds. The camper we’re buying is 1100 and I was concerned
Where can I buy it and how much does it cost ?
Great video! Well done.
I'm going to cry this looks so stressful.
Like anything else, if you follow a checklist and go through the motions several times, it does get easier and quicker.
Does anyone know how much weight is the max added when using the bed and the whole tent camper? What can is support max weight?
10 cases of beer can be easily fit into your pick up
We own one of these after a while it stinks and it's hot in there when we open it it gets cool after one hour
Brooklyn Tea i found that showering regularly greatly helps keep the stank away.

Throw some dryer sheets in there, they really clear up the air.
