    Bad marketing and negative sentiments killed Jimny in India.

      You have right said, I still see chances for Jimny if Suzuki does not hesitate, accept, and learn from the mistakes. BTW, Japanese people are very good at that. Let's see. Thanks again 😊👋

      Jimny has altogether missed the Bus now and the shean now with Thar Roxx launch and thier initial blunder in early bird launch fleece failed game plan to create fictitious demand bubble.

    Me too did the same... I booked the vehicle before price launch, cancelled immediately after price launch but eventually bought after these huge discounts.... Except for the huge turning radius and no seat height adjustment loving the car though..... And last but not least thank you mahindra thar for not letting maruti ripp off customers by over pricing jimny

      HUGE TURNING RADIUS is the ultimate DAMPENER since it makes even city commuting absolutely a horrendous task, despite its lean figure
      And 90 percent buyers aren't into OFF ROADING here,nor did they buy it for exclusive THAT purpose, ALONE
      Neither a city car,nor a family car....if someone is still falling for the sunday bazaar sabzi mandi discounts
      Buy it if u intend doing off road PRIMARILY
      Else,stay away and do t Fall into DISCOUNT TRAP

      Jai Hind! Indeed if someone is only buying this for a discount. One should buy this for its capabilities but not for comparison or discounts. Unfortunately, it is one of the most understood vehicles ever in the Indian automobile industry.
      Your comment makes a lot of sense.

    The car needs about 35 more BHP and about 45 NM more torque. It also needs a seat height adjuster and about 30mm more GC. A driver arm rest with storage would also be useful.
    Water wading capacity of 300mm is too less; but that is hard to fix.
    And the Alpha AT needs to be 10 lacs on road max.

    • @MashofreaksAuto
      @MashofreaksAuto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Except increading GC, 2 inch bigger tires and change in suspension to accommodate the tire, none of the other things are fixable especially NA engine.
      Honestly speaking I am enjoying this ins stock. But your POV makes lot of sense to me. 👍

    • @passionandcommonsense

      @@MashofreaksAuto
      It’s quite simple really.
      The car has no power, no torque, no real fuel economy, no space for a family, no storage spaces, no seat height adjustment, no road presence, and for an off roader, it has no meaningful water wading capacity!!
      And for all this Maruti wants 17.5 lacs on road!! What rubbish!!
      The Espresso is half the price and doesn’t have dedicated 4x4 and that car is more useful than this Jimny. Go to any Himalayan town and you will be stunned by the number of Altos and Espressos.
      Saying that the Jimny is successful in the west and so implying that we Indians are somehow uninformed country brutes is downright racist in my opinion. So what if some westerners have money to throw around for a fancy car to enjoy with on the weekends?! That is not our value system. Here we believe in function and utility. Even road presence is about utility - it is useful on the road to be able to get noticed.
      So if you bring the car here to this market then make it align with our value system of function and value for money.
      The Jimny engineers said that they didn’t have time to tune this engine to get good power for India. This when they had 5 full years!! What they were doing for those years God only knows!!
      I am not a Thar fan. In fact I think that the Thar is a show off car and nothing else. I test drove the Jimny. Twice. I so badly want to like it as I think it looks amazing. During both test drives, I floored the pedal and there was literally no forward movement. There was a ton of body roll in the turns. Without seat height adjustment I couldn’t see past the wiper base actually. Had to sit on pillows. How the Jimny doesn’t provide seat height adjustment is beyond me. Good visibility and ability to see past the bonnet is a basic requirement; especially in off road.
      All in all, Maruti screwed up big time. The car didn’t fail because of the internet. The car failed because it is bad product for our market and it is overpriced at that. This car isn’t worth more than 9 lacs on road as it stands now.
      At the very least the car needs a better engine and better transmission. It also needs more storage and weight sensors for rear seats. Did I mention the annoying beeps for no seat belt in the rear when no one is sitting there?

      You have many valid points shows you are not at all novice and I respect them.
      Well I do hands on with these vehicles, day and night being from the hills. Give Alto, I can virtually go anywhere but discussion is not that. Well, price is really rubishh and I am completely agree with you. Trust me I inclined Shinkula from Zansker with loaded capacity of 600kgs in it and it did its job beautifully. Saying no power and no torque is an easier thing. I am not at all biased or anti but sharing my real time experience with you. Throughout copper plugs you will see the difference. Jimny has not failed here but my friend is badly positioned and the worst prices are posted on us. I don't want to say it is a high performance car but it makes all kinds of commutes easier in the hills than many others because skinny, small, light. Think of an upgraded Gypsy but heavily overpriced my friend.

    • @passionandcommonsense
      @passionandcommonsense 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MashofreaksAuto me being a novice or expert is irrelevant. I agree with your assessment that the car is working for you. But that’s not the main requirement for sales. To sell well, it has to work well for lots of people.
      People will counter saying that the Jimny isn’t for everyone and that it is only for a small group of discerning enthusiasts. If so then why cry about low sales? All this hand wringing about Jimny being a failure means that it hasn’t worked for lots of people, some enthusiasts included.
      Our market is about volumes. To succeed here one has to sell many copies of any given car. Maruti of all people should know that. Maruti isn’t a Bugatti who will sell one car to one rich person every 6 months and call it a day.
      And Jimny hasn’t sold in any significant numbers to be called a success by any measure. I remember that the Ritz (which is a fabulous car) was selling about 2000 units a months when Maruti pulled the plug on it citing inadequate sales. So now with Jimny not even selling at 4 digits per month I can imagine what the management at Maruti must be thinking. They screwed up. They know it now.
      While having good 4x4 capability is always great; it can’t be the only USP of a car here. We need our cars to do lots of things. Absolutely no one is going to go climbing up a rocky dirt track everyday. But we will be taking our highways everyday. So the car needs to have power. Even if I want to go to Ladakh I have to drive 1800 kms of highway. At Jimny’s comfortable speed, it will take me 50% more time to get to Ladakh or Spiti where I will enjoy the car.
      Maruti got carried away with all the social media noise about bringing Jimny to India while forgetting what this market truly values - function, versatility and cost savings.

    • @MashofreaksAuto
      @MashofreaksAuto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      As I already said in the video as well, it is a totally mishandled and misunderstood product. If someone bought it for the highway to cruise with, take the wrong decision. Just look at it as the newest generation of Gypsy which is more refined, bit more capable and with some modern gears. The entire issue as you said is misunderstanding the product. Anyway I also respect your concerns but this is how it is. One mistake done by Suzuki and another is done by who bought this and is now regretting. I drove 3 door Jimny 2 other countries before so I know what it is exactly. Thanks for your comments and support.

    Excellent narration Sir.
    Actually now Sujuki should relaunch JIMNY with a hybrid or CNG option, a better storage system for water bottles/mobiles, better placement of switches, better profiled AT tyres, better turning radius, smoother gearbox/stearing system, second raw seat needs to be made more comfortable.

      As far as I know Suzuki refused to share Jimny with the Toyota GV. Suzuki actually thought after the success of New age Baleno then Fronx, they will be able to push Jimny without facelifting it to modern gears with any price. This is the time they should learn from market feedback ASAP. Suzuki will not find a bigger market than India, has lots of potential and must learn what is Indian buyers' need.

    Giving the naturally aspirated engine while competitors offer turbo engines can be another reason. Plus the old gear box both in MT & AT version is one major reason for downfall of Jimny. others r providing 6 speed MT or AT whereas Maruti is still using 5 speed MT and 4 speed AT

    • @MashofreaksAuto
      @MashofreaksAuto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching and valuable commenting. All these topics are on the way and in my list to discuss in detail in dedicated video. NA engines are not bad, they have their own merits but yes people look for more power at this price.
      MT gear box is good and proven especially coupling with this motor, it's only problematic for those who need a much smoother gear shift but this is how most ladders on frame chassis behave in this price range.
      Suzuki did not put a 6 speed torque converter because it would take another delay of 1 year to test it and the cost. We will discuss all these in dedicated video in the "Jimny Cookbook Series", thanks.

    Great video. One short query : does the roof rack, creates any trouble while driving apart from wind noise. And also how effectively we can cater the wind noise from roof rack in the Jimmy?

    • @MashofreaksAuto
      @MashofreaksAuto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Amit ji, thanks for watching and support. 👍
      You have two questions here:
      To answer first one, roof rack won't create any issue if and only if it is fitted with perfect workmanship. So, fitment is utmost in addition to quality of rack.
      To answer second question, suppose you are driving at 100 with no roof rack and you open side mirror then there will be wind gust and lots of noises, right? But as soon as you roll up side glasses, the cabin looks pretty silent, isn't it? So the culprit is not roof rack but the insulation in the car. If you trust me, roof rack increase negligible NVH levels if fitted well. It is something else you need to fix.
      Hope that helps and answer your query! In my next videos you will see resolutions of many issues of Jimny. Thanks.

    I own a Jimny, I am an early buyer, I know I paid premium but I am so happy with my vehicle. One good thing noted by sir in the video is the stupid Highway tread tyres as stock. I bought the Jimny when the discounts were not there, and was a bit disappointed when the discounts came in. One thing that i noticed was that the sales person did not know much about the vehicle. For example why the turning radius is so high and the steering so heavy (comparatively), what's the power to weigh ratio etc, which i asked just to test him, having done my homework. But such sales person spread misinformation which can translate to disappointed owners later on. I knew what i was getting, and what were the workarounds for the issues, so I'm happy with my Jimny. Great points though in this video, the Jimny is a great platform which is not handled well.

      @MashofreaksAuto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vishal Ji, I support your statement.
      Well, if you talk about the parallel vehicle then Suzuki is offering Grand Vitara in 4WD drive segment which suits to the needs you explained. Normally, vehicle with Jeep DNA or Ladder on Frame chassis are like that only atleast in this price range otherwise have ladder on to price for Jeep Wrangler or the Rubicon etc. Actually, Suzuki is failed to position their vehicles very well, bad marketing, arrogance, mishandling, and so many internal factors. They also failed to handholding the people in such a huge market like India.
      It is been years Jimny Sierra is running in USA and it is no different vehicle than this. I see it more a social media hype than realization in future which you can match anything close to vehicle like Bronco and few more.
      Suzuki may come with some sort of uplift in India but probably they will not test again all fresh vehicle in Indian market very soon with the similar kind of capability.
      I personally found Jimny very capable atleast for Hilly Terrains applications, balanced in highways, not a powerful machine but it does it job. Few shortcomings of comfort we can fix and probably I will bring few more videos on this topic in future.

    Looking at the second row seats and comfort, can’t see any result of so much time and effort took solely to make Jimny a 5 door. 5 door Jimny comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids family, that can be served by 3 door Jimny. Along with lack of storage and space issues, the first impression for families is that it’s a cramped car comes with a very high price. Still off-road lovers buy it, obviously Jimny is a reputed off-road vehicle, but the families must be adjusting with it.

      Sorry my friend I was on my way to Delhi and did not get a leisure time to answer your question. First of all, you can ask as many questions as you like to and I will be happy to assist you for your queries and for you decisions. Let me try to answer:
      I do not know the kind of terrain you live in but if you belong to some hill terrain where offroads are an obvious choice then you can keep it as a only 4 wheeler as long as you get a clearance from family and you won't mind waiting for replacement parts which are not in regular use for any possiblereplacement.
      If you want to drive this only in cities or highways then I would suggest you to keep it as a secondary vehicle.
      It is actually a very efficient offroader so more and more bhps are a bit irrelevant and all you need is a good low ratio torque converter, in number you will find lesser torque but 4H and 4L compensate it very efficiently.
      Lastly, for me it is still worth buying but the improvements you have mentioned are so exciting and very welcome. And definitely then it will be a more appealing choice and investment if and only if you have use cases.
      A friend from Bengaluru already suggested you on pricing.
      Just in case you like to understand more please feel to ask.

    Any chance of jimny Sierra..... At better pricing learned from jimny 😜.

    • @MashofreaksAuto
      @MashofreaksAuto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hmnn... Your turbo engine thing is absolutely correct but at extreme hights turbo also start failing, fundamentally NA are more reliable in those tough situations. But yes, I welcome your thoughts because we are not going live at those altitudes. Whatever engine it should have been, Suzuki must have tested it well, which is totally mishandled here.
      In my opinion, pricing is just 40-50 and the rest is mishandling Jimny and the customer by Suzuki India, very bad. They are just playing with it.
      Lastly, with the name of Jimny Sierra almost the same Jimny is running in the USA but for a different purpose. Jimny Sierra launch in India looks more hype to me than a reality if at all a new avatar is really coming in. Also, in my opinion Suzuki will avoid launching a new car in India and testing again very soon. What they probably do is to make a facelift I think to avoid launch expenses which are too heavy.
      This is what I can speculate and foresee at the moment.

    99% of those buying SUVs have no idea about off-roading.
    They need something big and menacing to scare other road users and that is something that the Jimny cannot do.
    The Jimny is a brilliant off-roader but how many in India care about that? Most don't even take their SUVs off the tarmac on highways.
    To top it up, Maruti messed up the pricing big time and then did some more damage by giving a massive discount to later buyers. That is a sure shot recipe for disaster.
    Maruti forgot about the early buyers completely. They should have given them something - free service, free roadside assistance, something.

      My friend, let me try to help you.
      First of all, thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
      Short Answer: No - roof rack won't create any issue if and only if it is fitted with perfect workmanship. So, fitment is utmost in addition to quality of rack.
      Long Answer:
      Suppose you are driving at 100 with no roof rack and you open side mirror then there will be wind gust and lots of noises, right? But as soon as you roll up side glasses, the cabin looks pretty silent, isn't it? So the culprit is not roof rack but the insulation in the car if you are not driving it at high speed with open windows. If you trust me, roof rack increase negligible NVH levels if fitted well. It is something else you need to fix.
      I drive it up to 120 Km/h on few patches. No such sounds. I did the hood insulation my own which increase the hood weight by 7-8 Kgs. I plan, design and implement it in three layers. You can have a glimpse of it you will watch this video:

    Was MSIL influenced by success of Toyota Fortuner in India, probably they thought just offer a fantastic car and it will create its own fan base and influence market. Few negative points you raised here on Jimny, Fortuner still carry those negatives but its sales numbers are fantastic. I sense Jimny do suffer from MSIL cheap car producer brand, it just dilutes the brand of lifestyle car like Jimny. Overall very disappointed with Jimny sales number, less than fortuner which is priced 3 to 4x. In hindsight I feel Suzuki discounted presence and success of Thar, particularly RWD price. Recommend MSIL to provide more torque to engine or else settle for 1000 ~ 1500 units a month. Otherwise drop price further and aim at rural, but be ready for cannibalize effect (brezza)

I said that multiple times in multiple forums that not many in our country do the offroading but that does not mean people do not want to or there are not many who potentially lean towards starting or learning it as a new skill, it is a big country with lots of potential. Suzuki mishandled it completely to make those potential customers or who bought it to some level.
      For torque, I can agree to some extent but that is not a show stopper specially on hills for many use cases.
      I am not saying this is the best petrol offroader but it is not that bad as well and widely misunderstood my friend. I drove this already thousands of Kms in the hills and I am really happy but that does not mean I am biased as well. I always want to be neutral on this.

    The initial overpriced launch with fictitious hype about non existing long waiting list and scheming attempts to palm off top end models to early birds at over priced rollout.
    While the launch roll out was overpriced to fleece the early birds cumulated with lot of price cutting measures in the build like poor suspension, wrong tyre size, low battery capacity, thin flimsy body, low specs in goodies, underpowered old engine has killed their credibility.
    Kill the competition was to be the marketing mantra they fell prey to their own greed to kill themselves up against competition.
    On top of it huge discount options to later buyer only to boost sales having fleeced early bird hammered all the nails required in their coffin for their credibility in jimny.
    All the sins of having fleeced the early birds has caught up with them to bury them against competition.

    Its a flop because its nothing special just a cheap, short lasting, use and throw toy:
    1) Design problem of steering vibration that needs king pins + rotors + pads (+ steering damper optional) to be regularly replaced every 10k kms or so. A cost of INR 10000 +. Maruti is showing recalls and defective king pins to make it look like as on odd issue or defect and not any long term problem, but the wobble is regular wear and tear, replacing the parts Maruti is just procastinating the issue till its out of warranty. Note there is no fix for wobble it needs regular change of the above parts every 10k kms or maybe every oil change
    2) Over priced. Should be cheaper than Brezza base i.e. should be 8 lakhs on the road. Build quality is same as other maruti cars (average/cheaper side, not upto SUV or rugged standards) , safety rating is 3 stars. Weighs same as brezza (1200 kgs). For comparison scorpio and bolero weigh above 1900/1700 + kgs. If 1900 kgs steel sells for 16Lakh, what should 1200kg steel sell for? Leave apart the diesel, power, ruggedness, road presence, resalve value and looks factor. Compare it with a Nexon and punch in real, not on youtube
    3) Fuel economy of 11-12 kmpl
    4) Super costly spares, cost as much as fortuner. Radiator costs 24000, grease seal on front axle wheel hub thats just a rubber costs 1800. King pin (505x4), brake rotors(2200x2), brake pads (3400) cost too much and need to be changed every 10000 km if you don't want steering wobble
    5) Unavailability of parts or too long to procure even in service center. Generally takes 3 weeks for any part. No local inventory
    6) Bad braking, stopping distance. Too big a turning radius of 5.7 m. For comparison Scorpio turning radius is 5.4m, bolero 5.7m, hatchbacks typically have 5.1m. Try a tight u-turn and you can see the problem. It takes too much space to turn
    7) Uncomfortable in rear and barely survivable even in front. Driving for 100+ kms is not comfortable for the price one pays
    8) Very low engine power. Small and thin tires and wheels because with such a low engine power thats all it can handle
    9) Zero innovation than prevous or older models, just a face lift, with all the flaws stll there
    10) High altitude brake vaccum problem, prepeller rubbing problem, etc. However I haven't verified these 2 myself
    11) Boot door loosens and sags over time very quickly due to poor build and heavy spare wheel mounted
    12) Ground clearnace is only 210mm and is just a number and if you look carefully even fronx, ignis, brezza look equally high from the road. Don't compare numbers, kneel down and look under the cars to compare. IMO there is not too much this vehcile can do which a TATA nano cannot
    13) Absolutely zero after market support. Its an off roader, where will one get it repaired if it breaks somewhere in himalyas. Add the lack of mechanics and spare availability, chances are one will face a nightmare if such a thing happens
    14) Garbage after 5 years (50000km) and no resale value. Chances are it won't be working by that time as most people will not be able to get it repaired due to parts unavailable and/or mechanics not used to it.
    15) Discontinued in europe and sooner than later will be discontinued in every country including India. Hence Suzuki tries to find a new 3rd world country to sell it every few years
    Its a use and throw toy, not a vehicle. Its a global flop in todays world no matter how respected it was in the ancient past or Gypsy time. I will be surprised to see if it sells even if Maruti starts selling it at 8 lakh on the road price

    Jimny is by a foreign brand!🤢
    Every true Indian will prefer dying and breathing its last breath in an Indian Brand Vehicle than any foreign brand.
    Even passers-by prefer to be crushed under Mahindra Thar than by a Jimny. Ask Lakhimpur Khiri victims.💪
    Go "Vocal for Local"!🇮🇳
    Respect for Ratan Tata sir and Anand Mahindra sir!🙏🚩

      Indeed we all should be proud of these indigenous brands, Tata and Mahindra. 👍

    they could have increased sale by atleast 20-30% by giving it good aggressive looking offroad tyres and basic accessories like snorkel and roof rack factory fitted.
    it would have been taken more seriously as an incredible offroad vehicle.
    Insead they launched it with zero accessories, malnourished tyres and childish candy colors to attract city buyers😅😅

      Totally mishandled child and one of the biggest marketing blunder from Suzuki😊👍
