Spock already covered this issue of hers previously. It still applies even after he made a point of calling it out in front of a bunch of senior officers. Of course Future!Starfleet wants to know what caused the Burn. But for them it happened more than a century ago. They're not going to put aside an immediate crisis on the off-chance that some guy they don't even know might have a lead and might be in trouble. Burnham is not really cut out for life in Starfleet if she cannot grasp that.
Saru was wrong if you ask me. He should have let the admiral make that decision. Due to the fact that the entire Federation would be affected bye that information. Especially since he earlier stated that the needs of the Federation were to take precedence over the needs of everything. Both situations effect the entire Federation and should be prioritized bye him.
Saru is a good guy but not nearly as good a captain as Sisko, Picard or Kirk. Hell I even think Janeway would have let her do what she was trying to do.
Let me guess. Michael doesn't listen. She directly disobeys orders. And there are zero consequences for her for when she returns. Yawn. They've done this like 20 times already. I can't believe how much of a "Paper Captain" Saru is. Michael might as well be Captain at this point. Saru gets no respect despite all his hard work. This season would be a lot better if it be if became a "Saru vs Michael" season with two sides splitting off.
He fires Burnham from first officer at the end of the episode. She appears to chuck a big sulk over it and is thinking of leaving Starfleet. Do it do it do it pleeeeeease it would make the series so much better
I hate this so much. It’s down there with Jack shooting Curtis in 24 in terms of dumb episodes. I really hope Unification III is good or at least better than this was.
