Such an awesome life he lived - doing what made him so happy and connected to nature. He was my beautiful boy and these treasured memories will live on forever. Trish
I don't know what to say other than my sincerest condolences to you and your family. Your son was an absolute talent. Probably the greatest tracker, right up there. What your son achieved is absolutely incredible. Only a handful of people on this planet have experienced this level. All the best.
Jessica Rose N Josh had some of the most amazing BASE videos of all time. Truly inspiring and beautiful. Living life to the fullest! I’m a BASE jumper and cinematographer. My condolences, much love ❤️
My condolences. I hope you had time to process everything.. Today i took the time and rewatched every Video multiple times.. Its really incredible what your son achieved. Everytime i watch one of those Videos im just left speechless..
Didn't even know tracking like that was possible . By far the best and scariest proximity flying I've seen . Looked you up and discovered you tracked your life away doing what you loved . Respect brother. RIP.
This is the best video ever made in human history as far as i am concerned. i would love to have seen what he was doing with a one piece suit, the video would probably have broken the internet. If ever there was an Institute of Fucking Greatness this man would be running it.
It is very difficult to even appreciate the sheer bravery of these track suit jumps... like... a whuffo would watch this and be like, "yeah sweet another wingsuit video!" but holy mother of god is this completely unreal to watch. This man is a fucking LEGEND for nailing some of these lines. It's so so so gnarly... RIP
Josh, I admire your life philosophy, your barvery, dedication, and unmatched skill. A mere watching of this is an experience already, and I can't even imagine how vast and deep the first-hand experience is.
i was going to type speechless, but i have plenty words ,just not the ability to string any of them together to do justice to what i have just watched. utterly incredible tracking . i wonder out of all the human beings that have ever lived how many have or had the physical and mental capability to do that, would be surprised if it took the fingers of both hands to count them.
exactly my thoughts. ... this could also be called ted rudd memorial tracking tour. just wow! no words! along with tracking by tedd rudd, andrey karr, antoine laporte and maybe a few others, this is the sickest shit i've ever seen!
Tedd Rudd, Andrey Karr, Eiliv Ruud, Antoine Laporte, Josh Nicholls & Vincent Cottee are the only ones I can think of that track at this level... the fact that 3 of them are now dead and all 3 from tracking speaks for itself I think. It's sad to read the description where Josh says "that this style of flying is finite"... and know that now he has gone too.
@@Superterminal Laurent Bes was awesome. He was the one who tracked Le Brevent with Vincent Cotte. Laurent Labes on YT, his vids are still up. He also died tracking.
@@everythingviral972 ah thanks for that. I knew the other guy who tracked Brevant with Vincent had died, but I never knew his name. I'll look him up on here today 😊
*opiate* No worries man. It is certainly very sad. This guy was so talented. More info will probably be updated to that link if you just keep it bookmarked and check it periodically. I check that site every few days, and people are dying pretty steadily, and at a fairly predictable pace, about 30 per year. There is a great short doc by RT News called "Gone With the Wing: Wingsuit Addicts Rethink BASE jumping After 3 Tragedies". That doc is crazy, cause you see these guy fall off one by one, until their crew is just a couple guys left. Dario Zanon was one of their crew. I still can't find solid info online of how he died, but in that doc, his buddy says he hit the side of a castle that you'll see them fly by in the doc. If you've already seen it than sorry for boring you with all that text, but if you haven't, please watch it, it's very good. Cheers!
I was hoping the recent news regarding a base accident involving an Aussie jumper wasn't Josh. Massively talented young man in many areas given the production quality of his filming. His base lifestyle was capable of giving so much but is unforgiving of the slightest error, even zero errors can result in a fatality.RIP to one of life's amazing people than can push beyond fear and turn dreams into reality.
This will undoubtedly sound cliché and maybe cheezy, but I will always remember this dude. His videos are beyond inspiring. I find this video to be the most impressive proxy flying I've ever seen, along with Graham Dickinson. There quite a few people doing amazing things with proximity flying, but the control that J Nicholls showed with just a tracking suit was for me the most impressive.
Thank you Robert for recognising Josh's talent as a base jumper, of which I'm only just coming to learn about. He was always very humble about his abilities and excelled in whatever he did in all aspects of his life. The huge impact he has had on others he has met during his travels here and overseas has been inspiring and given our family great strength in trying to come to the realisation that we will no longer see his beautiful smile, hear his contagious laugh or feel his comforting arm around us. We will always treasure the special memories we hold in our hearts as well as make new memories from those shared by his many friends in his base jumping family. Josh has taught us so much about how to live our lives and we are immensely proud knowing the world is a better place for having had him in it. He was my beautiful son. Trish
Trish, i unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting your son. I am not part of the base jumping community, just an ordinary bloke that was utterly amazed by your son. I think this film he made called Ya Dreaming ! th-cam.com/video/1qP38p5swDo/w-d-xo.html sums up how he must have felt when flying, enthralled and serene all at the same time. That's how i will remember your son, flying through the mountains with the sun shining on him. When i first watched the opening tracking jump the hairs were standing up on the back of my arms and i realised i had a big smile on my face. I doubt i am the only person it had that effect on. That is no mean feat to do that with less than a minute of film. The mainstream film industry spends billions trying to achieve that and often failing. Every single person i have shown his films to have literally been dumbstruck. Like me they were aware of base jumping, but just not the level it is at now.As a parent myself i hope you can find some comfort in the fact your sons films brought out just about every emotion and response possible in everyone that watches and will watch them. From the people that watch his films to those that met and jumped with him, no one will ever forget him. I am so sorry for your loss.

this is both thrilling and frightening at the same time .this is just a tracksuit which does not give same lift as a wing suit base jumping is relatively safe when done in a open area ,clear of cliffs and trees .but this proximity base jumping thing is very risky as it involves gliding close to cliffs and trees . high death rate for proximity base jumpers as one miscalculation or error is all it takes. i don't recommend this if you have a family to care for. RIP Mr Josh Nicholls 🙏

Typical/average glide ratio for a 2 piece tracking suit is 1:1. If he's wearing the PF Power tracking suit (still 2 piece, more surface area), you can add roughly .3 to that number. And, given his level of mastery, I'm sure he's hitting well above average glide. I wouldn't be surprised if he was getting upwards of 1.5 in the PTS

this is way more dangerous than wingsuit flying
actually I don't think so... suits are more unstable, this is more stable but steeper angle.
committing to a line happens a lot further out than a wingsuit and there is far less maneuverability in a track suit to correct line or errors.
More balls required!
the reason i don't do this is, i might not pull my shoot, some deaths are a beautiful way to go.
What a big deal !!!
Never saw your comment before.. Ur the last living tracking legend im aware of.. Stay fucking safe dude.
