Checking in at 180 cm, and I’m dying to see more tall girls in kimono! Also looking forward to actually putting these tips in to practice, especially the pleated susoyoke idea.

You can always make a kimono to your liking( yes it’s a difficult option but it’s worth it) with practice and effort you can make your own beautiful kimono i myself made my first kimono and it ended kinda well not the best but for my first self made kimono it was good , or if you have the money you can always hire a professional to make it for you ( but it’s really a expensive option 🥲 )

I made a susoyoke with pleats like this after seeing the Homsue versions online! I made several pleated hems, and the susoyoke has buttons along the bottom edge so I can switch out the hems for different colours.
I definitely need to make that elastic belt! I'm only 155cm but I still have several kimono that are too short 😭

I wish I had seen this about a year ago. There was a very beautiful tsumugi kimono on sale then, but it was almost 20 cm shorter than I so I didn't buy it. Now I hope I would have bought it any way ;)
Thank you for making this video. Now I know that in a tight spot it is possible to make even a too short kimono to look good :)

The kimonos look so pretty. My problem is my curves. I have an overweight hourglass figure but I’m short. So my problem is usually getting the bottom to stay closed without the top being too bulky.

Yeah she has some videos about padding, or hoseigi. I'm not sure that would help you at all but it's meant to change the silhouette of your body so maybe that could get you started? She also has a video on plus size--I've not watched it myself (I'm a twig with a curved spine so my booty sticks out more than it really should 😫).

I am so grateful for your channel and this new information hacks on wearing a kimono just short and not wide enough. I cannot wait to try these on now! Thank you So much for your channel!

I love a lot of things about this video. I really appreciate you being a supporter of the LGBTQA+ community, thank you again for making us feel safe and accepted 💖I really like the tips you had here, I've seen some techniques like the pleated skirt before but I like the others as well for the days I don't want that kind of look. Do you have a video or link for the elastic band you showed us in version two? I have a Ro-weave blue komon that I would love to wear in the traditional style with a new orange summer obi I just got, but it is just a bit too short and that would be a great way to remedy it.

I don’t know if it would be completely inappropriate to leave the house that way (I have a feeling it probably would be…), but I always think that kimono look so comfy and gorgeous, with just the waist tie tied. It looks really airy and as if it would be great to stay cool in summer. Probably doesn’t help that this is the standard ‘disheveled bad boy’-look in historical dramas.

This is so neat! I've been putting off watching this one because I am... 155cm and this will never be an issue for me, but it is fun to learn more about this.
I think it's so funny (in sort of a sad way) that people just perceive you as taller just because of your appearance 😭 what a funky little world we live in.
Have you seen the trailer for the upcoming Netflix show about Edo except it's a woman-run society (/female!Tokugawa specifically is the main character)? It's got a pretty lovely design scheme and a variety of kimono for, you know, social standing/context/such, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the coords.

I noticed you're wearing your hair down in this video. It looks lovely! I have a question: I thought you had to have your hair up for kimono so everyone can see the emon. I can't put my hair in updos because my hair is too heavy and it gives me a massive headache and I will be miserable. Lately I've been doing pigtails instead, but my head is so sensitive that even that hurts. Can I wear my hair down with kimono?

I am going to japan next spring and I wanted to ask if it is possible to find regular fitting Kimono for really tall women.
I am 176/177cm which is even tall in european countries, so I am afraid nothing will fit me :((
