    I am so thankful for this video. I finally got my first house after ages and was so disappointed to realize lofts didn't work the way I thought they did. I looked up so many videos for help but all of the ones I found assumed you already had some knowledge of glitching furniture in ffxiv. This is the only video I found that actually taught me how this works, thank you!

      @@DefeatMedia I have a question. 2 years ago I put my summoning bell on a elevated loft, now I am trying to move it to a troupe stage and I can't remember how to raise the summoning bell off the ground. Every time I try and raise it, it just doesn't save, the moment I exit housing mode it just teleports back to ground level. This is unlike most other things I try and glitch which will hold position when I leave housing mode.

    Love the video, will try a few of these for my house! I did the floating deck but using a different technique where one uses the camera to place escape the deck with its centre right within the fence. Paired it with the oriental wood bridge, which isn't as high as the arched bridge but has a more minimalist design.

    Great content as always. Some side notes from my bottomless sack of opinions and almost never useful information; "Floating 2" is more commonly known among the decorative community as "lofting," to avoid confusion while talking about both methods in one situation.
    When lofting, the "hitbox" of the item (the orange circle while rotating it), has a certiain degree of magnetism, which means it will be pulled down onto the next nearest "collision surface" (anything a player can stand on outside of edit mode) within what I like to call its "magnetic field" (the distance below the hitbox that will cause it to be pulled down). That distance is usually a bit less than half of the lofted item's total height. If the hitbox is clipping through the floated collision surface you want to loft it on, then it will ignore that surface and travel down to the next one within its magnetic field. A simple way to prevent loss of hair or raised blood pressure is to float an item a few pixes above the collision surface you want to loft it on top of.
    Also for the inventory place & escape its critical to emphasize timing. Gotta hit escape a split second after left clicking to place item. Too soon, or too late, it won't work.
    Edit: apologies if it seems like I'm picking apart bits of the video. Just common issues I've seen mentioned a lot in many places which describe these methods. You know how comments can get lol

    Just an fyi for future glitches, once you have an item like the rectangular partition up high enough, you don't need to keep using the Riviera wall shelf and can actually sub in the wooden loft. It helps speed up the already tedious process haha.

    • @sophiatsapoitis373
      @sophiatsapoitis373 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimBir08 until you get the partition high enough off the ground for the loft's hitbox to stick, you do need to use the Riviera wall shelf. It is tricky at first. When lifting, the item you are lifting cannot clip through the bottom of the Riviera wall shelf. Also, move the hitbox of the partition(check where it is using the rotate option so you don't move it without meaning to) to as close beside the hitbox of the stage panel as you can. This means clipping the partition through the stage panel in order to get them close enough. The riviera wall shelf fits snugly in the cross section. Partitions and especially screens are particularly a pain to lift. Best of luck!!

    Being able to control the Z-axis would make the system so much easier to place items. I'm sure implementing it into such a large system would be complicated (and more time-consuming than making a designer home) but it would make life so much better.

  • @loribrock4508
    @loribrock4508 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had issues with stuff falling after the first lift (benches, dressers). You can stop that from happening by just rotating them a bit after each lift. You do have to click the ground or a wall after the rotation or it won't lock. Then you can lift the item higher and repeat. You can still float them back down if you get them too high. So to save yourself a lot of frustration, lock as you lift.

    I really appreciate all the information you've given here. Now I realize this is a shot in the dark, but I have to ask. I'm trying to submerge an indoor oriental waterfall into a corner of my house. Normally it stands too far away and it looks messy. I think it would look really nice if I was able to clip it through, but I don't know how to do it, or if it's at all possible. Do you happen to have some advice for a novice designer?

    • @DefeatMedia
      @DefeatMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, it's my pleasure, glad you like the content:)
      To accomplish what you're asking for, you do kind of the opposite. For example, I wanted a hot tub even with the floor. What you do is build up a floor versus sink the item.
      I think I have a tour of my house on the channel called "medium house tour" where you can see it.
      I used lofts, attached one low on the wall (think I had to use the placement glitch) then built a floor from there. Will make way more sense seeing the video.
      Hope this helps!

    • @DefectivePieceofChalk
      @DefectivePieceofChalk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DefeatMedia I see. So if I understood you correctly, rather than sinking the object into the corner, you use panels to reduce the size of the room around the object? That makes sense. Once again, thank you.

    Hey, I just saw your video and I'm totally impressed with the "wooden deck" glitch. I tried it myself, which worked out. But I want to change my fence into the glade hedgewall like you. sadly the wooden deck always drops down again. How did it work out for you?

    • @DefeatMedia
      @DefeatMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There was literally two spots I could find on my wall where it would work. So the deck didn't end up where I wanted it, but it is how I want it (on them hedges:).

    So at 17:08 instead of guessing where to put the wall (item you want to float on the riviera shelf) look at the orange move clover. The center of the clover needs to be "on" the shelf. If the center is not on the shelf, then it won't move. The lift point for all furniture is the center of rotation.

    • @DefeatMedia

      @@LittleHobbit13 Yes, I changed to the hedgerow after floating the deck twice. You may run into a scenario where it drops, but, if you have it in a spot where it floats, it's easy to get it back up. Just make sure to keep the fences you used to float it initially so you can always get it back if needed. 100% the most important bits are, finding a spot where it floats and sticks and having the lower fences to get it going.

      Hmm that's a tough one because if none were working I'd say it was doing the steps.
      But you are getting other items to float.
      It may just be those items don't float:( Some items don't. Like the big fireplace.
      I've seen kitchens floated before so try two things.
      1. See if you float them higher, does it stay? Then it's a height requirement.
      2. Try a different cheapy desk and/or kitchen. Do they stay? Then it's an item issue.
      Good luck and glad you like the video!

    what do you think might be the problem? is it patched out?

    • @DefeatMedia
      @DefeatMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Contrary to popular belief, I have yet to see any of the housing glitches get patched out.
      This is definitely one of the hardest.
      I'd recommend first trying different spots on your fence line to see if you can get it to stick anywhere (fence posts are a good place to start).
      If you can, this means you've got to pick a spot where it works.
      They're pretty limited.
      If it doesn't stick anywhere. Please revisit the steps in the video. Make sure to get the rotate at the end to register the placement.

      A couple of things to consider.
      - Some items may not work. Mailboxes, benches and lamps should all work.
      - if you try a mailbox and it doesn't work, you know it's something else.
      - If you have one-piece housing setup (carbuncle, mog, etc) maybe see if it works with another setup?
      - Some places may not work. Experiment around the entry, like where I put the mailbox, to see if you can get things to place.

    I'm curious if there's a way to float wall mounted items that can't be placed on the platform or Riviera shelf. There's a way to place something on a wall and then remove the wall. Floating wall mounted items in mid air. I assume that's what you want, otherwise you'd just put it on a wall.
      I can't recall the specifics right off the top, but it's the same method I use to float the maps in my aquarium build guide.

    Soo... I did this float with a stage panel, and a wooden loft to float a bed. I want the wooden loft to stay as the upper floor but it's stuck to the stage panel. How do you unstick it.... lol or avoid the stage panel and wooden loft from sticking together while floating the bed? Because otherwise I can't place the wooden loft under the floated bed without leaving it when I do the last float for the bed. Hope this makes sense. Tysm for this video. GREAT STUFF.

    Great video! You helped me understand the glitches. I got a deck to float on top of a fence with the rotation method. And it stays. Although I learned you have to get the deck directly in middle of the fence, so fence is intersecting the exact middle. Then rotate it long ways so it's paralel with the the fence. Then 90 left or right so its making a + shape with the fence. Then hit move, then escape. Works every time if all that is done. But when I switch to the carbuncle theme... it resets like 30 seconds later. Any idea why? Tried a few different things. Fences to get the fence higher, different placing. the deck always falls back to the ground only after I switch to carbuncle theme. Sadly

      They all still work. I 100% believe the glitches and ability to do so are intentionally there at this point.
