    Just a heads up for those interested, Tim and I decided to have a short live stream for Patreon members in about an hour to discuss Ryzen 3 performance and a few other things. So if you're interested you can join us for $1 per month on Patreon, if not that's fine. Hope you enjoyed the video.

      @teardowndan5364 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@idyllsend6481 If there was real competition in GPUs, a 5700XT wouldn't cost $400. Right now, it is a duopoly where both participants provide practically the same things at practically the same prices set much higher than total costs because their market has nowhere else to go. It is kind of the same for CPUs too, things are moving slower than they would if AMD and Intel had a credible third party competitor threatening their fat profit margins.

    • @benjy117
      @benjy117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@teardowndan5364 This is because there isn't a free market. Though we are educated to believe there is. Any competition will be undercut or purchased. This happens with all monopolies in the market. Fanboyism is the worst when it comes to tech. AMD and Intel work together from the top because if they didn't well Intel wouldn't really have any competition. Same with AMD and Nvidia. Intel could literally undersell AMD at anytime and could afford to. The problem is they would catch hell. This isn't like Amazon underselling another company forcing a buyout. This is a worldwide supplier AMD. The FTC is a joke and is a government owned and operated entity. All of these Taiwanese based companies sell the cheapest product available for an American made price. Most of western society has no idea how bad they are getting screwed by these Taiwanese based companies. They are all owned and operated (most of them) by the same owners. Gigabyte, MSI, Thermaltake, Zotac, Corsair, Biostar, Asus, EVGA, Sapphire, and the list goes on, are all the same products.. PCbs, transistors, chokes, vrms, and the rest of the components are all made by the same supply chain and factories with a different label with A VERY HIGH FAILURE rate. Westerners have no idea what they are being forced to buy when they purchase this cheap crap. The same with memory modules and power supplies. The cheapest overpriced garbage on this planet honestly. These motherboards, power supplies, memory modules, all should be literally half the price for which they ask for it. Video cards are overpriced by 50% as well. The 2080 Ti is the biggest scam I have ever seen in the field so far. It literally only costs Nvidia a couple of hundred U.S. dollars to manufacture the card like the 1080 Ti it's predecessor. Yet Nvidia is asking double for the asking price. I would like to see a law firm go after them for price gouging the consumer. I haven't seen them go after Intel yet so I imagine they wouldn't go after Nvidia for price fixing the market. However, they did go after the memory makers for this a year ago. I don't understand why no one goes after Intel and Nvidia for price fixing.

    • @PatalJunior
      @PatalJunior 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @James Smith Lets see if the rumors are true, if they are, 50% over 2080Ti is a LOT.

(and in other countries it is worse even when the minimum basic salary does not exceed even $ 100 when with what should be lived would be $300....)
      In my case I have no problems since I still enjoy my i7 3770 (in that time my first PC and i wanted first for Digital Art/Video Editing, you know being a graphic designer and next Gaming), but I have friends who literally have CPU garbage and cannot make that jump because of how expensive they are, I hope that if these AMD come to my country, they will not cost a Fucking eye and at most cost 50% more than it should cost (Iva, Customs, that infamous 30% that stores take away or if you buy online / someone out of store still gets double for a very good search engine that be, etc).

    This is just the official support; since I've seen zen 2 Processors run on A320 boadrs just fine (even making use of PBO), I think that Ryzen 4000 will run on 400 series chipsets (someone approved this lately) and probably even 300 series chipsets.
    AMD just wants you to buy an new motherboard every two years just like INTEL customers do, so the motherboard vendors don't get mad at them.

    I really love how much progress Ryzen and AMd have made in CPUs. My 7700K is a low range chip now, as you would expect from basically three years of development, but I gotta say, if you bought say a 2600K back in 2011 and compared it to a 4790K, not much progress had been made and certainly it was basically on par with an i5-4690K. How times have changed. Stellar review as always Steve!

      Totally agree. i've had 2nd gen, 4th gen and 7th gen intel core-i7 cpu's. the only advancement intel has done in 8th+ gen core i's is the boost clock speeds. 7th gen and previous, the boost was only what, 300-400mhz. any 8 and later gen core can easilly boost +1.2Ghz and sustain it for longer. that makes a huge difference in games and light workloads. add the small benefits of faster ram and that's it. amd on the other hand has made real advancements in a harder period of time and they deserve credit and some of my money.

The MAIN TAKEAWAY is that now its better to get a 3300x for regular people like those who normally browse or want solid gaming at great value rather 3500 . • @miniweeddeerz1820
      @miniweeddeerz1820 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not similar. The 8 core CPUs obviosuly kill it in multicore and much much smoother irl games. The frame pacing on an 8 core is so much smoother than a 3300x

    • @haonanzhang6759
      @haonanzhang6759 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is to be expected just like 3600 vs 2700x. Single core performance is way better and makes up for the 2 missing cores in most cases.

    • @miniweeddeerz1820
      @miniweeddeerz1820 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@haonanzhang6759 well if you go to gamers nexus review the 3300x and 3100, because of their lack of cores and threads have much more erratic frametimes than even a 1600af. This means that the game will be smoother on the 1600af than say a 3300x, if the cores are being utilised which they are in most games these days, so the 1600af being smoother is a better gaming experience. The 2700x Vs 3600 is only a 33% core increase so the difference is smaller while the 3100/3300x Vs a 6 core cpu is 50% core difference so it matters more there.

  • @bendavis6188
    @bendavis6188 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I can see why they held off doing this until Intel pushed them to release this product line: in many instances, the 3300X is a reasonable competitor to even the 3600--especially in gaming. It's a good reminder that most software still hasn't scaled beyond four cores and that frequency and cache are still the major indicators of regular consumer platform performance. Given that this part will definitely not compete against the higher range of Intel, I thought this was a pretty good spread, given your time budget. Looking forward to your mega-graphs when the extra data gets added. Great video as always.

    Thanks for the video this presents an interesting proposition for those looking to build soon. Given as you said in the end of the video that if you want to upgrade further this cpu later if you have a 400 series motherboard it would seem that you may be better off waiting until the 550 boards are released. Then again as the Zen 4000 series cpu's will not support DDR5 any motherboard you buy in the next probably 2 years will mean you will likely need a 600 or maybe 700 series motherboard to run a Z 5000 CPU assuming it supports DDR5. This I think then means once Zen 5000 is out that will probably mean the start of the AM5 era.
    So for me I am thinking now it is at least better to wait until you can get a B550 motherboard if you are considering either of these or maybe the 3600(X) if not the next-gen parts later this year. If I did buy a 3300X and a B550 I hope that we don't get too bad of a deal here in Australia on them given how much our dollar is changing I fear we likely will as always.

    That graph about AM4 socket and CPU support doesn't seem to show what you're saying, Steve. It says no support for Matisse on 300 chipsets, but Matisse works fine on B350 and X370 boards with BIOS updates. I think there are even A320 boards with Zen 2 support.
    It seems to me that it's indicating which motherboards will feature support out of the box. If so, that makes sense given the comments on how the BIOS runs out of space. You'd have to delete the old files and install new ones as replacement to support newer CPUs. If so, then there's still hope that I'll be able to run Vermeer on my B350 board. Fingers crossed! If so, then I won't have to make the jump to DDR5 for the initial, expensive years.
