Activated charcoal uses adsorption by trapping toxins and chemicals in its pores. It works as a magnet to attract heavy metals and toxins that bind to its surface. It has the ability to absorb toxins in the body.
4 Main Benefits of Activated Charcoal
    1) Water Filtration - Used in water filtration systems
    2) Cleansing the Body of Mold - Mold has a positive charge (Activated charcoal has a negative charge)
    3) General Detoxification
    4) Eliminate Alcohol Poisoning
Don’t use activated charcoal on a daily basis but rather for emergency situations or short-term cleanses. For periodic use, activated charcoal can also whiten teeth.

I am convinced activated charcoal saved my 6 month old Aussie from parvo. I took her to the vet to get her immunizations and within 12 hours she had full blown parvo. We gave her a turkey baster full of pedialite and teaspoon full of FOOD GRADE ACTIVATED CHARCOAL. Every hour she got the pedialite and every 3 hours we gave her a tablespoon full of FOOD GRADE ACTIVATED CHARCOAL in the pedialite. Within 4 hours of her first dose she was feeling better 24 hours later she was interested in food and water again. A full 48 hours later she was eating cooked rice with chicken broth. She continued to recover by leaps and bounds. I hope this helps someone. We were told to just put her down because she wouldn't recover. I am so glad we didn't. God Bless!

If you use it only use it on occasion, say once a month for example, it absorbs important minerals and nutrients as well and regular intake means it's going to be really hard for your body to absorb these minerals. It does more harm than good if taken unnecessarily.

I keep activated charcoal in loose powder form in a jar for any possible allergic reactions. It reversed my daughter's throat closing up after having Jack Fruit for the 1st time. I've used it a couple of times before (and yes, therapeutically is annoying because it makes green stools hard as rocks) but we're very careful not to take it with any food or vitamins that we'd actually like to KEEP in our bodies. It will adsorb all of it, all that goodness, and remove it from the body. You might as well be water fasting while taking this.

Activated charcoal is AMAZING. I was detoxing with the sauna and niacin (look up the protocol) and other supplements. I am losing weight and when you drop weight whatever is stored in your fat gets released and floats in your bloodstream. I woke up with an overwhelming thought of suicide. I knew it was not normal. It felt urgent like I had to do it right then. I took some activated charcoal and within an hour, the feeling went away. I just knew it was impurities in my body that had been released that were screwing with my brain at the time. Take the charcoal, even if you do not use the sauna. Remember do not take supplements within 2 hours of taking it, as they will be absorbed by the charcoal.

BALDING: Activated Charcoal (AC) is an extremely important relief for balding 20 something young males.
Anyone starting to lose hair at a very young age is most likely because of overgrowth of mold/fungus/yeast in the body. The mold attacks the hair follicle so hair falls off.
The excess mold can be easily smelled in combs and hair brushes.
Nowadays this problem is even seen to be acute in some young men with a black paste like dye coming off of their scalp which often leads to some brain issues as well.
An awesome way to get rid of the mold in the body so hair can start growing again is by taking AC as prescribed above by Dr. Axe. The affected comb/hairbrush should be kept separated from the rest and disinfected weekly by soaking in hot water.
Thank you Dr. Axe for this.

Your video is excellent! I use an activated charcoal mask. but before i go any further, for a good part of 15 years, i have had a monstrous face. I do not know what happened, but i have these creases under my eyes, and because of them, my life has been hell for 15 years or so. I have tried soo many things to get rid of these creases, but nothing worked. I tried the activated charcoal mask that i bought off ebay. It is by a company called Shills. I wanted to see what happened with my acne blemishes and other stuff. I was not even thinking about the horrendous under eye creases i have. I just wanted to try the mask. Anyway, i applied the mask, and waited 15 to 20 minutes for it to dry. I then pulled off the mask, and i was amazed! The under eye creases dissapated! They did not go away completely, but they lessened quite a bit. I need to set up an appt. to see a dermatologist, to ask him what the under eye creases are caused by, and WHY the activated charcoal mask dissapates them. I am thinking like maybe i have a skin condition that maybe is curable, but i am not sure of anything! I just know that i am tired of looking so ugly, so horrible with these under eye creases. I know the activated charcoal mask improves my face, so i am going to try my best to get to the root cause of these creases, and to maybe get rid of them for good!

Not only can it cause small bubbles to form in your bloodstream but anywhere from 6% - %10 is commonly used for bleaching hair and 90% is used to make foam rubber or rocket fuel... does not sound very safe at all.

Note: It’s important for poisoning to call poison control phone number to make sure activated charcoal isn’t contraindicated. I recently thought my dogs had ingested toxic salt we had for melting ice. (I’ve since learned and bought non toxic ice melt.) the bag was ripped open.
After giving them charcoal, I read that in the case of salt poisoning (in dogs), that charcoal would make it worse. Thankfully I don’t think they actually ingested it - just made a mess on the floor - so all is well.

Great video! I had ecoli or salmonella a couple months back and can’t seem to get my stomach right. I was also working around mold and am wondering if it has something to do with it as well. So I’m gonna try this! Super excited about it after reading the comments.

I love charcoal capsules . from last two years I have been using it as my face mask . simply open one to two capsules , add rose water and mud mask powder , mix and apply . have extremely oily skin . benefited me a lot . once or twice in a month I also take it orally , no side effects . trust me it will give you clean skin and body

    Hi,
Is activated charcoal for face masks the same as activated carbon used in fish tank? Because I've noticed a very extreme price difference between the two and was hoping they're the same so I can use fish tank carbon for my face masks.

I had a quick question Dr axe. as someone who is 13months into a chronic post viral fatigue issue..I've got extensive testing all year. thankfully alot has come back clear. the most significant findings were a fungal mold infection found through a test for Lyme disease as well as high copper and low iron levels through a hair mineral analysis. I'm treating the high copper with the required supplementation as well as mineral therapy to adjust the imbalance my body is in currently. it's been a few months now. I've only just started treatment for the fungal mold as it was initially looked upon as nothing by my doctor at the time. I'm using grape seed extract in water, Apple cider vinegar and activated charcoal every other day to combat this. from these findings does this all sound relevant?? should I be treating my liver in any way also? hope this isn't an overload of info. it's been a frustrating year with very little professional advice that has shown a result unfortunately. thanks, from Adam. I recently rehabbed an apartment which included removing lots of old lead paint. I used a proper respirator while doing this, but the job included scarping which makes dust and also stripping paint with a heat gun. I'm going to get my lead levels checked when I have my physical in about 6 weeks, but I am a little more concerned with having potentially inhaled some toxic vapors. Like I said, I used a good respirator, but sometimes you move the wrong way and get a whiff of the vapors from the heated paint. Would activated charcoal be an appropriate product to use and if so, would you reckoned any particular timeline and dosage. Thanks for your reply.

+Dr. Josh Axe This may interest you. I learned from a seasoned herbalist that making a paste from AC and placing it in your mouth swish around and leave in for about 30 minutes can stop periodontal disease. It will help eliminate all three forms of spirochetes (bacteria) that cause periodontal disease. I went to a holistic DOD and he showed me on his magnified video monitor the severity of bacteria swimming around. He told me the only way to eliminate and maintain a healthy set of gums was to use a water pic after every meal. I told my herbalist and he showed me this AC technique and after using it once a week for about 3 months I went back to see him. He asked me if I took his advice about the water pic and I told him not yet, he got the camera back in my mouth to check on the status and we could not locate any spirochete bacteria. He was baffled. I told him what I had done but he could not wrap his brain around what I had done. I went back to tell my herbalist and he told me he had the same reaction with him.

Hi Dr Axe, I really enjoy your informative articles and videos. Please look up this nugget to update your Argan Oil article if it is true: that a study posted in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health examined men between 23 and 40 years old who added argan oil to their diets for 3 consecutive weeks and showed a 20% increase in their testosterone levels. Sorry to post in wrong topic. I cane across it in another article, but there is no year referenced in that article.

Dr Josh, should I use AC if I still have 'silver' amalgams??? I, of course, am going to have them removed. I'm looking for a dentist in my area that has the correct equipment and procedures in place, so I can have them removed [along with that the expense :-( ]. Was wondering if that would cause undue stress on my body???

I say you should take less than what they say in order to see how your body will react first. No way I'm starting out with a whole table spoon three times in a day. I've used it as toothpaste for three days now and it's very abrasive and dries your throat out and mouth and lips. It soaks up everything.
