He's had 13 operations that have done very little to decrease the severe pain that he feels 24/7! He should've retired and quit weightlifting/ bodybuilding in 2006 when he lost to Jay Cutler in the Mr Olympia. Ronnie has returned to lifting heavy weights after each operation and he is getting around on crutches and a wheel chair these days. Always listen to your body & gut instinct. I've experience all kinds of different pain between ruptured disks, 2 fingers severely cut and hanging by the tendons and severe laceration on my forehead and back pain is definitely the most painful.
This seems pretty common for Mr. Olympia athletes, though. Look at Dorian. The guy literally tore tendons *OFF THE BONE...* Pushing yourself too far is pretty common when your job is build as much muscle as possible with as little fat as possible despite the fact that, biologically, your body really doesn't want hundreds of pounds of skeletal muscle with virtually no fat deposits to fall back on.
Honestly, his injuries aren't going to be what does him in, it'll be his heart. Nobody looks like he does 100% natty, regardless of how much they're busting their ass.

My husband's chiropractor advised him to quit deadlifting when he was 26 because of his lower spine issues. He continued seeing a chiropractor, still does once per week, and eventually at 33 he quit squatting because squats began to stress his lower spine too much. Some individuals are unable to load the spine with heavy weight, in terms relative strength, that is individual strength. He has met others who have retired deadlifts, barbell squats, and other exercises that are bad for THEIR spines health. You have to put your health first.
As he got closer to this back issue,he walked with a limp, bad hips maybe to,he's a hard dude, huge pain threshold.no pain no gain,he payed dearly.. God bless him.🙏🇦🇺

Had he not gone the Mr Olympia route and just trained like an everyday Joe he'd still be the biggest strongest dude that anyone in his circle knew. The weights he's moving are insane
Most people will destroy their body sitting on their ass all day eating sugary foods or doing drugs. Coleman did what he loved and although he destroyed his body he solidified himself as a legend and he was proud of what he achieved through hard work and dedication.

This is why you never lift heavy every single week. Back Squats require carrying a lot of load on your spine just to do squats. Taking a break from lifting every once in a while for a week is a very smart thing to do if you want to avoid injuries.
take a closer at the momment he speaks after he took the first surgery, big ron believed that the reason for the other damaged disks had to do with the surgery cause the cut a big chunk of the disk and then the rest disks fall apart. He is right about that, the rest disks didn't handle as it should the big weight that ronnie continue to lift.
I stopped doing super heavy squats at the age of 32 that's when my back went out. If you look around most guys stop doing really heavy squats in their thirties around that time that's when your back starts to kill you if you keep doing heavy squats.
Ronnie was an awesome champion but his judgment was not so good when facing his limitations. He could have trained smarter and still achieved the mass he had.

Never go under the knife for your spine for injuries like this. Extremely high risk and the spine is not designed to be fused like that.
Homie over here talking about which chiropractors to use then talking about back surgery like he's a doctor SMH
@@biganimetiddies1287 Maybe consider broadening your research parameters, and look into Havard's medical school and Gonstead articles. Dr Rahim, a Gonstead Chiropractor. His work is a good start. Being a Doctor here has no significance, I am actually a student.
Ronnie Coleman quote: man somethin wrong with my back.
In a different timeline ronnie Coleman participated in STRONG-MAN. He would've dominated that field
I herniated my disc. I broke my back real bad
SPINAL :)

I stopped doing super heavy squats at the age of 32 that's when my back went out. If you look around most guys stop doing really heavy squats in their thirties around that time that's when your back starts to kill you if you keep doing heavy squats.
im 29 and i stopped at 27. What you are saying is 100% true
He appears to be such a nice guy too
Ronnie was an awesome champion but his judgment was not so good when facing his limitations. He could have trained smarter and still achieved the mass he had.
Chris Dickerson won Mr. Olympia in 1982, at the MOST he used 40lb Dumb-bells for curls, 3 plates for squats. Ronnie just overdid everything, don't misunderstand me I love the guy but he just was his own worst coach (in terms of self-preservation!!).
@@TheSpritz0 i hope you do realize there is genetics not everyone can attain muscle mass using the same weights the best way to gain and maintain muscle is progressive overload
@TheSpritz0 He was purely working for size, ronnie was working for strength.
The moment I saw him squat 7 plates without safety bars or spotters, i knew it was just a matter of time...
The King insuperável,Big Big THE KING COLEMAN
Dredd August ames
Love this man
He used 30mg oxycodone 4-5 times a day at the time the shot this. I wonder if he ever stopped or if he's a full blown addict now?
In the off season he went cold turky
@@plagueincandglitch776 absolute animal just went cold turkey off opioids
@@plagueincandglitch776 If he truly went cold turkey he must have suffered beyond belief with the withdrawal and the pain from his injuries
@@TylerDurden-td2yg no i said when he worked out
Wow! Sets of 10 - 15 at 315 lbs on a herniated disc... G.O.A.T
Sweetest man alive
Happy for u Ronnie
Nice work
Go,go,go,Coleman .
King
Blew out his disk never ceases to amaze me body builders barely do core work . The fact he was told what he was told that is stubborn ,he could have been a cripple then
Muita força de vontade você espirra muitos atletas
His body told him that it was enough, but he straight up ignored it. I’m not saying he deserves it, but it’s his own fault, he pushed his body beyond the limits and didn’t know when to stop
@Reloaded Past no but he’s clearly bot having a great time, he can barely walk
But he regrets nothing because he’s the best to ever do it.
3:20 when u see the ultimate type of problem in ur life that's the coolness u get
No Pain,No Gain!
'Doctor told me to stop squats' ronnie-okay
Ist thing to do after coming to gym is squat!
Sounds like my grandfather, minus the squatting 800 pounds
What a man I could never push myself that much mad respect
I like how nonchalant he is explaining is back pain 😂
The day we lose him will be a sad one.
LIGHTWEIGHT BABYYYY
Thought I was the only high schooler with a herniated disc
Whole career he has given lessons on do's of body building now he gives lessons on don'ts, its hard to he what he is now but also he carries a great legacy.
1:21 man!!!
Look at Ronnie's hand size. I'm dam sure it will be about 9-10 inches long
Wtf
@@classiq. I know who says that ? 🙄 He got inches on his mind lol
You saw that too😂
