I don't check in often, so I was really surprised to find the comments section for an anti-fascist movie full of pro-fascist comments. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that today's wannabe fascists are artistically illiterate but its still a bit of a head scratcher. Comments gotta be reviewed now as a result. Due to how infrequently I check in, please don't be upset if your comment takes weeks (or months) to get approved.
For those of you who have not seen Jin-Roh, I highly recommend it. It's a dark poetic anime that can be slow at times.. but my god it is a masterpiece of anime!
I can image how heavy that armor is. Even the stuff I used in the army when in full urban gear was heavy. That was light composite material. What they are wearing in Jin-Roh is probably steel plate on top of protective clothing.
The bit where the two dinguses at the bottom of the stairs get shot at with sim bullets by their instructor while they're in all that badass armor is never not funny to me. "That's how you learn!"
I can only imagine how heavy that gear is compared to the gear I had in U.S. army. This gear is metal & probably weighs more then he does. Even the newer gear I had was still pretty heavy put all together.
arctictoothpaste Yes. Thank you, couldn't think of what it was called nor did I care to look it up. The latest batch has been shit. Failling quite a lot actually. The military put down the dragon skin armor even though it was better then what we had. Though the general's who claimed interceptor was the best later retired to to work for interceptor. Just goes to show corruption isn't just in politics. Now at least we are using good ole plate armor. Still heavy but this shit works!
The girl talking is reading from the original Little Red Riding Hood, which is what this movie is loosely based off of. With the main character (Fuse) being that of the Wolf.
I wish there was a game like this where player would have this kind of armor. Maybe soldier that went rogue because of revenge or something . With upgradable armor, new skills (like running through walls as seen here) and so on. Hopefully one day ...
@Sir Drake : Jin Roh is adapted from the original manga KERBEROS PANZER written by Mamoru Oshii, and released during the year 1988. Wolfenstein 3D was made in 1992 and was not even including the "red eyes design" (Maybe you talk about the new design from 2014) . Anyway, I love Killzone and Wolfenstein TNO but we must keep in mind that both copied the Kerberos design from 1988, not the contrary. Radio ToraDora and Hung-chan are right.
If we make the assumption that it's all steel rather than ceramic plates (most likely considering the movie seems to be set only shortly after the second world war) and we know it's strong enough to easily have pistol calibers bounce off. Through this we can assume it's essentially like the SN-42 WW2 infantry armor which was about 8Ibs, so going by general size comparison we can assume the shoulders (together) are around 9Ibs, chest, groin, and back around 18-20Ibs, tasset pieces (together) about 7Ibs, arm guards about 7-8Ibs, and leg guards about 9Ibs. All together the armor can be assumed to weigh around 42-45Ibs, electronics wouldn't add to much, maybe 5 pounds at most, packs would be heavy as fuck considering there's just big metal boxes with a fuckton of 8mm Mauser belts, you'd need one strong fucking back to carry that shit.
***** Alright from that description, the protect gear doesn't seem tactically sound at all, in fact those guys would be sweating balls from just moving
Dei Deus 80 lbs evenly distributed thru the body is no cakewalk by any means, even for an individual in peak physical condition. For example, look at Peter Weller's difficulty with the Robocop suit from 1987 and that probably only weighted 65+ lbs. The problem is lies with design of the armor. its big, bulky, doesn't allow for much range of motion and you have to factor all the heat generated by the individual. As i said not tactically sound at all, since they might need to utilize fast reflex movements for engagements with the enemy and the gear would severely hinder that.
Not sure if anyone knows, but is there cgi used in this movie? At times, there seems to be some kind of cell shading effect that makes the characters look really 3D and you can see it a lot more in scenes with the special unit and their armor.
Mr. White not to my knowledge. This movie was produced by Production I.G, key animated, directed, storybaorded, and character designed by Okiura Hiroyuki with many other great key animators. Okiura (and many of the other key animators) have also worked on Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Akira, Kimi No Na Wa, Memories, and many more shows/movies with amazing animation. They pride themselves in hand animating and not using rotoscoping or cg. Just watch the shows/movies listed above. I did see another clip on TH-cam that was 60fps but I believe that to be animated over with digital ink and pen but I did see a great upload elsewhere of the whole movie and it looks amazing but I can tell it's definitely hand animated. I believe some scenes were animated on 1's while most were on 2's at the standard 24fps. I haven't taken the time to actually go frame by frame but I think if I or some else did that's what we'd find.
Isaac Richardson you can't be sure that will any insane people grab an anti material rifle like the Barret Sniper rifle, that thing can punch a hole on an lightly armored vechicle. I doubt that the helmet can block that.
+LuftWaffe ME 109bf Those are actually MkB42s, the 'assault rifles' that is, but are classified as machine carbines...which...is pretty much an assault rifle.
No, this would hinder more than hurt us. I've worn plenty of military gear, and that armor would weigh way too much to move around the way they do. Even large fit people would have trouble.
Well, they would probably still have lost, but it would have been a much tougher fight for the Allies. The armor here bounces pistol calibers like nobody's business, but here we see an intermediate round (a rubber version of the projectile in the 7.92x33 Kurz fired from the StG-44 (MP-44) debilitating those that it hits. In the movie this scene came from, it is described as being very painful, even with the armor in question on.
It's not powered. It's more like heavy ballistic armor plating. I'd wager it's the same armor on a tank only with more composite materials so there's less strain on the wearer, hence why they're nicknamed Panzer Cops. Either way, they'd have to be pretty strong to carry that equipment on assignments. Combine that with the fact that they utilize MG-42 heavy machine guns (Which normally would require a bipod to use properly) as their go-to weapons along with an ammunition pack carrying 7.92 rounds on combat assignments and they should be strong enough to bench press a small car.
The MG42 weighs about 25 pounds, if they carried say 500 of those rounds then it weighs about 15 pounds so that's a total of 40. I don't know how much the armor would weigh but I wouldn't go so far to say that they can bench press a car
If it was a cartoon, you could say that. But the anime, mostly this kind, its based on reality, thats why people are discussing about the armor, guns etc...
Well, the Japanese DIDN'T surrender in WW2, and that led to a nuclear bomb being dropped on them. Twice. So yes, sometimes surrendering IS the best thing to do. Especially when you've already lost.
Comrade Cheeki the helghast were inspired by the same story. I don't know if this movie came out before or after kz1, but they probably took most of the design from the manga.
True, I was thinking that if it was an exoskeleton type armor. Like /watch?v=p2W23ysgWKI Either way I was just kidding but I still think it be cool ^_^
I don't check in often, so I was really surprised to find the comments section for an anti-fascist movie full of pro-fascist comments. You just don't understand kino and the nature of mistransmitted messages my dude. Post-irony is the currency of the new soul.
Hi !
lol at the replies trying to argue with this policy
I love how they managed to tip their lids up and down for the scenes to give "emotional responses" trough the glow of the eyes/goggles.
+RHProductionsII Wow, I did not notice the helmets being used as eyebrows
For those wondering what the girl is saying, she's basically telling the story of "little red riding hood".
For those of you who have not seen Jin-Roh, I highly recommend it. It's a dark poetic anime that can be slow at times.. but my god it is a masterpiece of anime!
Karl Alexander where could i find this?
If this is just their capital police i dont want to know what their army looks like
whydoievenbothertoputthishere I’d imagine they’re a sort of special forces, which may well be better equipped than the regular army.
whydoievenbothertoputthishere Maybe the same with different color scheme. Maybe they no longer need an army because they have conquered the world
Their army prob look bad ass af
I can image how heavy that armor is. Even the stuff I used in the army when in full urban gear was heavy. That was light composite material. What they are wearing in Jin-Roh is probably steel plate on top of protective clothing.
Rade Ue Masq maybe it's lighter than wr thing. And this is anime, where everyone hates Newton
2:42 He pumps another training round in to his leg just for good measure, lol
I was expecting a Nut-Shot honestly
I really hope more movies like this come out. Animations with this style of design. It's beautiful.
no anime movies/series today can match up to the animations back in the 90s.
And 80s
the animation is better than anime nowadays
That's because it's a movie, it's gotta be top-notch quality.
Holden Caulfield dude c'mon it's a movie with a very large budget, it is obviously going to look good
Man, so wolfenstein new order style is based on this? Didn't know.
Yes it is. Jin Roh is adapted from the manga Kerbero Panzer Cop (1988) written by Mamoru Oshii.
The bit where the two dinguses at the bottom of the stairs get shot at with sim bullets by their instructor while they're in all that badass armor is never not funny to me. "That's how you learn!"
Nothing beats getting the shit kicked out of your by your instructor, lol.
I’ve never seen this but it looks good
Now that armor is intimidation factor 101~! Dayum! I'd love to have that armor!
+Alpha's Channel
Kid you'd probably fall over just from wearing the helmet! Hahahaha.....
+greg77389 Yes, yes. Good one.
Alpha's Channel
Haha... No. I'm serious.
I would also like to wear that armor and paint it red or blue
charles Receski
Hell no! That would ruin it...
These guys remind me of killzone
I can only imagine how heavy that gear is compared to the gear I had in U.S. army. This gear is metal & probably weighs more then he does. Even the newer gear I had was still pretty heavy put all together.
Carbon fibre?
arctictoothpaste Yes. Thank you, couldn't think of what it was called nor did I care to look it up. The latest batch has been shit. Failling quite a lot actually. Just goes to show corruption isn't just in politics. Now at least we are using good ole plate armor. Still heavy but this shit works!
Rade Ue Masq that armor might way 120 pounds or more
The girl talking is reading from the original Little Red Riding Hood, which is what this movie is loosely based off of. With the main character (Fuse) being that of the Wolf.
Fun fact those guys inspired the look for the helghast in killzone
The new Wolfenstein looks great
They need to do a remastered version of Jin Roh or a series about what led up to the current era.
I'm curious to what happened before as well. It just looks like the germans took over or something.
MonarchTherapsids Inostran They did. They won ww2.
2:37 ouch, thank you crotch plates
I wish there was a game like this where player would have this kind of armor. Maybe soldier that went rogue because of revenge or something . With upgradable armor, new skills (like running through walls as seen here) and so on. Hopefully one day ...
CharlesFBronson
Killzone
those masks look cool as hell
PS2 KillZone Helghast's in The Vektan Slums Bot mode FTW
Yeah I loved the training scene, this anime and Ghost in the Shell have some of the most realistic military operations in anime.
so this were the Killzone (PS2 game) half-breed Helghast was based
yup
love how he punishes the two who surrendered. Just keeps shooting them.
Oh Just a Training Exercise .... Jeez
I'd half expected Fuse to bust through the wall and plug the mock-enemy. :(
Feels Bad Man: The Movie
they look like death korps of krieg men
+sir Drake Combined with the Helghast style aswell
+Imperial Guardsmen damned killzone got inspiration from this
+Radio ToraDora (feel the music) One of the devs actually said this
in that case they look like wolfenstein soldiers
@Sir Drake : Jin Roh is adapted from the original manga KERBEROS PANZER written by Mamoru Oshii, and released during the year 1988. Wolfenstein 3D was made in 1992 and was not even including the "red eyes design" (Maybe you talk about the new design from 2014) . 0:49 nice music
the training montage in this kinda realistic with the gun sound
Damn! wonder how much all of that gear weighs
If we make the assumption that it's all steel rather than ceramic plates (most likely considering the movie seems to be set only shortly after the second world war) and we know it's strong enough to easily have pistol calibers bounce off. Alright from that description, the protect gear doesn't seem tactically sound at all, in fact those guys would be sweating balls from just moving
jdfields711 It's anime, it can get away with shit like this so long as it looks cool.
Well you have to keep in mind the weight is distributed throughout the body making it a lot easier to carry than if you were lifting an 80 lb. object.
Dei Deus
80 lbs evenly distributed thru the body is no cakewalk by any means, even for an individual in peak physical condition. For example, look at Peter Weller's difficulty with the Robocop suit from 1987 and that probably only weighted 65+ lbs. Funny fact here, that helmet isn't bulletproof
I swear that the music reminds me of Samuel Barber adagio
我々は人間じゃない。人間の皮をかぶった、狼なのさ。
That's what I had always figured, but I saw no frame or support structure. Their room clearing movements were pretty spot on though.
Not sure if anyone knows, but is there cgi used in this movie? At times, there seems to be some kind of cell shading effect that makes the characters look really 3D and you can see it a lot more in scenes with the special unit and their armor.

Everybody talking about how awesome for combat the suit is but isn't it stupid to have glowing red eyes making for super easy headshot.
MrGazlo they can turn it off...I think
Isaac Richardson you can't be sure that will any insane people grab an anti material rifle like the Barret Sniper rifle, that thing can punch a hole on an lightly armored vechicle. I doubt that the helmet can block that.
german style killzone armure with STG 44 assault rifle and mg42 machine gun ! welll hail to kaiser !
+LuftWaffe ME 109bf Those are actually MkB42s, the 'assault rifles' that is, but are classified as machine carbines...which...is pretty much an assault rifle.

人狼かっこいいな!
JIN-ROH is cool !
They looks more badass than masterchief O.o
if this is an anime. what is its name? and where can i watch it?
+Raptor Red Jin Roh The Wolf Brigade, it's free on hulu . Not your typical anime, its rated R and very mature / slow paced.
CoBros I watched it and enjoyed it very much ^w^
reminds me of wolfenstein!
but it is adapted from the Kerberos Saga, which came out in the 1980s.
@kingofburnttoast There was a dub on the dvd
God I want one of those suits!
so that is what the TF2 soldier would be if he was german! notice they have team coloured shoulder pads
Where can I find this full series/show dubbed
No, this would hinder more than hurt us. I've worn plenty of military gear, and that armor would weigh way too much to move around the way they do. Even large fit people would have trouble.

Helghast!!!
no, i just prefer to watch instead of reading
It does have a dub
is there a english dub for this film
they look like helghast from killzone
Kerberos saga is created by Mamoru Oshii in 1986. even the live action movies are older than fallout...
Firebombings were much worst. It was all psychological.
i dont speak japanese but this is awsome
are they wearing powered armor?
+p0331546 Looks like the combat armor...
It's not powered. It's more like heavy ballistic armor plating. wow that is kind of amazing
how is name??
Jin-roh
not really the first fallout came out 1995 and this anime is from 1999
which song is the one playing in the beginning
It sounds like Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber (its playing in "Platoon" too). Very similar.
can't read?
older.
Well, the Japanese DIDN'T surrender in WW2, and that led to a nuclear bomb being dropped on them. Twice.
So yes, sometimes surrendering IS the best thing to do. Especially when you've already lost.
no, MKB42

What the fuck is that guys problem

Comrade Cheeki
the helghast were inspired by the same story. I don't know if this movie came out before or after kz1, but they probably took most of the design from the manga.

Dick move shooting guys who put their hands up.
+andrew stowe Yeah but they are training , the instructor is like " noobs learn to be a team, Try it AGAIN"
+andrew stowe It also shows them that if these rubber bullets goddamn sting, imagine a real bullet. They will make sure to not be shot again.
+andrew stowe I don't think you listened to the conversation they had after this scene.
DaSpineLessFish Oh I did. It was still a dick move, even with its reasons.
andrew stowe Meh, still necessary
helghast forever^^
At lest give them a German appearance
But they’re not krauts. They’re Japanese.
