After growing up in the ghettos of Detroit we went to the other extreme, the boondocks, deep in the mountains where you are near nothing. Talk about poverty. Some people had outhouses and lived in sheds with no electricity. Like living in the mid 1800’s but because of the easy living where no one or government goes and no worries of being attacked or robbed(nothing to rob) but they are at least happy. It’s a weird dynamic, harder living, more poverty than even the ghetto in some places in the hills of Appalachia but more happy. I think inner cities people feel trapped versus nature where still poor but the beauty just gives one something to appreciate.
Imagine... our second time seeing them live and the entire place was pitch black... and Tim's bass boomed out and they started the show with their Fishin in the Dark/Boondocks mashup.... Oh my god, my heart... Needless to say it was a memorable time as all of their concerts are. So glad we had the pleasure of experiencing them doing this live. Great reactions.. Thanks!

Ha! I told you that you'd love Fishin' in the dark/Boondocks song. No Boondocks isn't a gospel song. It's just a song about very country people saying that they were proud of where they came from and the values they were taught growing up.

Towards the end Adam does throat bass sound. Often it is really hard to tell if the low sound is Tim or Adam, and sometimes it’s both of them.

You have become my favorite reactor right now because of your volume of Home Free content, your enthusiasm with their music, and your energy and vibe. That is one of the best mash-up videos as far as video quality and effects, in my opinion! I didn’t have good headphones when this song was current, but I never heard Tim’s low subwoofer sound back then where you were talking about, but I definitely hear it now, so that means Chris must have been singing the bass line while Tim was singing super low. Good catch! It’s amazing the difference a good set of headphones makes. I think I prefer “Meet in the Middle” a little more than “Honkytonk”.

Tim‘s base when you questioned in the boondocks song was indeed not the normal range it was the subharmonic ground notes I believe somewhere around an A0

Yes I’ve seen them live three times each time they blow your mind get a whole new way there’s just nothing like Tim hitting his ground notes and feeling the floor shake underneath you!!!

Oh I love these 2fer reactions! What's great is you picked one video from 5yrs ago and one current video! This shows us that they are just as great now as they were then! They just keep getting more awesome! You know my favorite from your poll would be Meet In The Middle.....that video was awesome! Just for fun watch their live Down to the Honky Tonk. They did it before this video. You get to really hear the song then, no video, just them on stage. Love it!. And also, I think you actually get to hear some deeper bass by Tim and watch the fun they are having interacting with each other. Look it up. Also, the live on stage Boondocks, etc. is super cool to watch them and you get a different vibe. Take care.

One thing ya gotta remember and look at ..... This is studio, which = multi - tracks .... Tim was in Bass, and possibly sub --- but also high tenor as reflected in this reaction vid @ 11:52 !!! And no, Down in the Boondocks is not a "gospel" song (Little Big Town is the group, give 'em a listen!). Fishing in the Dark is Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (hell, give them a listen also while you're at it), they came back on the scene in the 80's (been around since the 60's ...???). Thought this was brilliant, absolutely and utterly brilliant!!!

I really like Down to the Honkytonk when Jake Owens dropped it and to have Home Free cover it a few years later?? Oh yeah! Fishin'/Boondocks is one of my favorites to watch live from the fan videos. The crowds seemed to love that one. I really like how they combined the two songs. Pretty cool! Meet in the Middle is my favorite of the two songs, but I really like them both. LOL Thanks! ^_^

Boondocks is one of my favorites by Home Free, it is just Great !!! Could you explain what sub-woofer means? As far as Meet in the Middle or Down to the Honkytonk, they both make me smile and feel good and I love them both. But Meet in the Middle has that something extra, maybe it is more of Austin? Sorry, I am a Huge Home Free fan and an even greater fan of Austin !!!

If I'm not mistaken, he hits an A0 repeatedly in the background of Sold. I could be wrong though. It could be a different note. It's a great cover regardless.

Tim did helium at a VIP in London a few years ago, it was hilarious!! They used to open their shows with Fishin'/Boondocks and it was sooo much fun! But worry not, I’m keeping my eyes wide open for when they announce their new UK dates (I’ve got a ticket for London and they have previously said that they’ll honour the tickets that got bought not used due to the pandemic)

Down to the Honkytonk is one of my favs, just them being goofballs, I love it! The other one, I never heard them before, and I thought it was a single song almost to the end; another one of my favorites!! Great reaction!

Tim was sub-woofer bass. This is actually on of the songs that he sings his lowest notes. I LOVE Chris's voice too, I miss it. (Although I love Chance's too!) I like how these two songs sort of "matched". Both upbeat type of song, that went well together! "Take Me Home Country Roads" and "Children Go Where I Send Thee" would match, both upbeat and beautiful harmony". So would "Quarantine" and "Countin Flowers on the Wall" which are both silly quarantine songs". Love ya!

There's no need to miss Chris - just go see him on his own channel or with 7thAveBand. A recent video proved that both Rupp brothers can dance - he did a swing dance routine to If the World was Ending, it's beautiful and well worth a watch.
Thanks for another really enjoyable review. So - IMO Meet IN the Middle is a more creative video with superb editing while Honky Tonk has more interesting footage. MITM has more meaningful lyrics and a more simple arrangement while HT has a catchy dance beat. Both have great harmonies but, IMO, MITM edges out HT. As a visual treat HT holds my interest more, despite the clever editing of MITM. MITM is a better song. Can't choose.

Question; is country music a thing in the UK? Here in the US country music is very relatable to most people in the rural areas and rap tends to be an urban staple. . What music is signature in the UK?
UK is more of a folklore medieval type of music traditionally. And no Country is not a thing here at all haha
