LB was great 4 years ago…. even 2 years ago…. all the hype imo is now Retrobat for easy set up… Batocera was awesome but setting up the drive for windows… not so easy… had to do it like 3 times before I got it right… and then I learned about Retrobat!
Finding Playnite best pick for me. Fullscreen mode allows to controll all with controler from a couch. Plus i have regular windows games on it as well.
another great video Jamie! I use mostly Retrobat on a desktop PC and now working on getting Teknoparrot up and running and I have about 20 games at the moment to start with. I'm hoping to get the BBC Micro setup next but I've noticed in Retrobat there is a roms folder for this platform but no folder in the emulation folder. Any ideas what to set this up?
Batocera the first front-end I used the fact that it is it's own os is a good send. If I have to run a es and windows the same time I need a 4grand system. I think other than the install being a pain in the ass should been higher on the list
You don’t need that expensive of a system to run emulation stations software on windows. Yes Batocera is better due to being its own OS, but ES doesn’t require that much horse power to run. I’m running it in a mini ryzen of that cost $600 no problem.
Launchbox is probably the best of all this top 5. I have tried all of this already and launchbox is pretty much the best organizing of everything. There's only one downside for launchbox, newbie that doesn't understand how to properly use them although there's always googled or youtube to help you with that. I think this top 5 you've mention is probably the best for newbies maybe that's why launchbox is not mention here and especially hyperpin OMG that one is the most complicated of all haha.
@Just Jamie1983-Thank you for all you do for the retro community!! We appreciate your hard work and dedication to keeping the retro community alive. I have been using retrobat for a while but I randomly have a controller issue. When retrobat is launched, before I select a platform or choose a game to play, the controller seems to register multiple inputs. It's difficult to explain, but when I'm going through the menus, the controller will skip 1 or 2 lines. I have tried multiple controllers, including bluetooth, wired, and 2.4ghz as well as uninstalling retrobat and reinstalling. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any idea what the fix is?
I'm confused, Retrobat at the number one, uses Emulation Station and Retroarch inside? Not better than use only Emulation Station with Retroarch? Or Retrobat have some hidden magic? Thanks for all your retro work!!
Yes like the OP said Retrobat support a much larger variety of systems than emulation station. It maybe using their software, but it’s cranked up the way up.
is there really no gaming frontends that looks like armoury crate?, And by that i mean "LOOKS", NOT PERFORMANCE wise. It's like all frontends try to be Launchbox, Or maybe it's the other way around :). Tried yesterday to replace Armoury crate with G-Helper, But something went very wrong (Pretty sure that Asus own uninstaller was the culprit, As it didn't remove the AC overlay completely). Been using Launchbox quite a lot, But i would wish there was a simple frontend without all the flashy stuff.
Yo, for an arcade machine, i3 9350kf + gtx 550 TI, just for mame/neogeo games and somes Windows figthers gaming, wich one i pick? Will I feel any difference in performance? Or the same for both?
Hello bro. Nice vid. You said retrobat heavy on your system. I have the same problem with retroarch on my laptop. So the question, what is the lightest frontend you recommend?
I mean. You could try Libretro Ludo. See what you think but Retroarch really is the lightest. Ludo just goes a step lighter but had limitations. th-cam.com/video/Ar0h6St_Fa8/w-d-xo.html
@@JustJamie1983 what do you think about instal/booting from batocera? Im thinking tryin it since my laptop is pentium 2020m and couldnt lift pcsx2 games maybe i can play it under batocera 🤞😃

@@JustJamie1983 the fact that Batocera is a linux distro (which uses Emulation Station as frontend) so it is not a frontend itself. @VilerVicious I see. Thanks for clearing it up for us. I would also go and tell everybody else on the Internet about this too. We don't want to look silly.

Retrobat simply because it supports a substantial amount of more systems that ES-DE and in many ways much simpler to use.

What happened to Launchbox/Bigbox ? by far the easiest to setup
It didn't used to be especially where Retroarch is concerned. Launchbox was very different who this video released.
@@JustJamie1983 This video is only 7 months old. LB is still the easiest
@meecob as of now. One of them, yes. Also remember. Not everybody is you.

What about Launchbox/Big Box + Retroarch??
Because I don't consider retroarch to be easy for newcomers and Launchbox is premium which I have praised before.
Retroarch and retropie are anything but easy to use
Fairly simple after a few trys.
