Effie is really the mom that Katniss didn't know she needed, contrary to her real mother. She actually genuinely grew to care about her. She gave her glimpses of joy in the small and seemingly unimportant things around her.

It’ really is so heart warming to see how much Effie grew to care about Katniss and Peeta, and I think her bubbly personality and positive outlook is something to admire 💜
I think, in some ways, Effie inspires vitality in Katniss. Katniss's life is absurdly hard and made up of tragedy after tragedy. It'd wear anybody, no matter how strong they are, down. Eventually, after all the loss and misfortune, they wouldn't see a reason to go on. But Effie radiates life. She's extremely animated in every scene that she is. Initially, it comes from a place of ignorance. Her luxurious life in the capitol skews her judgement of what is worth being concerned over. But after Catching Fire and during Mockingjay, that judgement and perspective shifts. But Effie's personality; the way she speaks, what she talks about, it remains unchanged. She cares about small things, and she cares a lot. I think Katniss observing this inspires her to not give up.

Hopefully she was able to be that for Peeta as well, poor boy deserves it after the mother he got
Effie lived an entire life of privilege and could easily dismiss the districts, but she stands with them. Despite the system being in her favour, she sacrifices all of that for the greater good outside her sheltered walls. That’s what makes her so great!
She's great in the movies. In the books unfortunately she doesn't actively take a stand with the districts, though she's not supporting the capitol and does join Katniss again when Snow is arrested.
@@snakeslife-uroborodjinn790yeah effie is definitely a character who is far more likeable in the movies and her development is far more understandable. I usually dont like the movie renditions for characters since more often than not, it fails to truly represent the character (i.e Katniss PTSD and Peeta's disability) but Effie is one of those characters whose deviation from the original source to the movies was a good call

@@joewhitehead3 definitely! I'm happy they managed to do some improvements to the story instead of just simplifying/dumbifying the original source, like it often happens with movies.

one of my favourite little details in effie is how when she is living in district 13 she styles the military outfits to slightly resemble her extravagant outfits showing how resourceful she can be

@IvanRingle-ku4vn She was, but only at the end of the story. Unlike in the films, Effie never made it to District 13 because she was arrested soon after Katniss destroyed the arena in Catching Fire. It wasn’t until after the war ended and Snow was sentenced to death that Effie was released from prison and reunited with the main cast.
