A shame that the full film appears to be no longer available.

Shown again on Talking Pictures TV tonight. Tried to spot my dad on the pavement watching the last tram but no luck!

One of my earliest memories is being taken, at 2 and a half yrs old, on to a tram by my Granny Macdonald on Cathedral Street next to Hopetoun Place where we lived in 1962. I’ll never forget that wee tinkly bell that rang as you got on! My Gran took me upstairs and they seemed huge! Like climbing up mountain steps.
The Glasgow trams were great. Getting rid of them ranked in stupidity right up there with knocking down all of the tenements in the city centre and shipping everyone to the outskirts of the city, into horrible high rise blocks.
If they’d spent the money from those high rise blocks on modernising the tenements instead, we’d still have those beautiful sandstone buildings today!

I think using an instrumental song as a background while the tram passed through the action of 1960's Glasgow was pure genius on the part of the creators

This film is 15 minutes long. Why wasn’t the whole film uploaded? It’s a great document of Glasgow in the early 60’s.
